This project takes students through the inquiry process while focusing on World Mysteries. It has two levels of study, one teacher guided and one student guided. Students are introduced to the inquiry process by examining as a class the Mystery of the Mayan calendar. After this, they are asked to choose their own world mystery and go through the inquiry process to answer two questions that they have come up with about their mystery. They must then present their findings to the class and reflect on the process. Download includes unit plan and all handouts. This unit also uses four print resources: Mysteries in History (3) published by Teacher Created Resources History Grades 4-6 Ancient Maya by Lisa Marty. This unit was created August 2009 by Danielle Stinson and correlates with the Saskatchewan Grade 7 English Language Arts curriculum.
