Tomorrow is the Melbourne Cup in Australia (it's a big horse race incase you have no idea what I am talking about). This is a HUGE day here {we don't get the public holiday- we had ours last week for our own local Cup}- we have dress up's at school, class sweeps & we all watch the race together at 3pm. The kids love it and it is a school tradition. But 240 kids + teachers in one room cheering and it makes for a mighty LOUD 15 minutes. Every year on the first Tuesday in November in Australia we have a horse race that stops a nation - or so they say! At about 3:00pm you will see empty shops, no cars on the road - because everyone is attached to a TV or radio to listen to the winner for this year. Melbourne Cup Day provides colour, excitement and almost every attraction known to man and that is not even to mention the horses. I have nothing but a fabulous time during Spring Racing Carnival and to be honest have partied so hard, I can only do this once a year. For all the PR agents and 'Social Butterfly's' of Melbourne, I don't know how you do it! Sheer Stamina. There are media calls to everywhere for parties, launches and breakfasts. At some point I had to bow out in order for the show to go on and that it did. Racing Fashion TV promised the next season to be the most fun and brightest ever. Here are some of my favourite moments and I am gearing up for the next Racing Carnival being Magic Millions. Remember every carnival is distinctly different and what is fabulous at one meeting may be a flop at the next. Keep your eye on the prize which is happiness. Tomorrow is the Melbourne Cup in Australia (it's a big horse race incase you have no idea what I am talking about). This is a HUGE day here {we don't get the public holiday- we had ours last week for our own local Cup}- we have dress up's at school, class sweeps & we all watch the race together at 3pm. The kids love it and it is a school tradition. But 240 kids + teachers in one room cheering and it makes for a mighty LOUD 15 minutes.
