HOLA!!! Jajajaja!!!

I tried my hand at fabric weaving, and came out with this mini quilt!
Check out these photos from yesterday's awesome class. Beautiful batiks. We were surprised at how these two fabrics blended so the coloured fabric in some places "was lost" The red really makes these baby blocks stand out. This photo doesn't do these blocks any justice. Three distinct sides to these baby blocks. Checker board grid. Bottom left - notice the light coloured strip sloping upwards? I call this the smiley effect. It is natural to push your strips upwards to be butted against the strip above. Always make sure they are straight to prevent crooked lines. There is meant to be a slight gap between strips. This block is beautiful and elegant. Unfortunately my photo doesn't do this block justice. These blocks arrived to class in a "dream" box of batiks. The hardest decision was which ones to use. Everyone had the correct tools which made this class a "dream" to teach. Continuing from an earlier post - Clover Soft Touch Thread Pic. Finally got to use my new gadget. I have pulled a rouge thread through to the front of my quilt ready to be plucked with my tweezers. I bought this gadget in 1998. Its used for closing safety pins when basting your quilts. I haven't seen these for sale for quite a while however on of my "newbies" had great success using a number 5 crotchet hook (10 ply) Its freezing here at the moment. I have had a request to make a draft stopper for our office. Chat soon.
What a quick and fun triaxial weave project for this week's ornament. The contrast and visual impact of the woven hexie is real. I notice them right away when looking at my tree! I made mine in Shimmer On Fabrics by Jennifer Sampou for Robert Kaufman, and some silver Manchester Metallic fr

When Janelle of Emmaline Bags asked me to guest-post on her blog with a round-up of woven bags from around the interwebs, I did what I always do when asked to do something: I said yes without thinking! Turns out, this was a really fun assignment. I'd say this was basically a "This is Your Life&

The wait is over and here is my Pantone quilt challenge project - minis category. It is also part of my Q1 FAL list which you can check here. It all started with few strips. I seen a bag with flap made out by meshwork technique. I just couldn't resist and I had to try it out. I love tumbling blocks for some reason. My trial looked good so I had to figure out what to do with it next. How about a bigger tumbling block?! So I made a cardboard template and stitched the cube together using EPP technique. The top part is much thicker than the sides but it adds texture and a bit of 3D effect. At first I wanted to do sashiko tumbling block background but once I pulled the white dots out I quickly changed my mind. It adds even more interest at least for my eyes :-) So I turned the whole thing into mini for my sewing corner as I just want to keep looking at that thing. The size is based on my board which is already there. Those two stripes on the binding are pieced in different direction on purpose. Little details are what I like. I didn't want the quilting to be visible on front. There are straight lines within the white dots and you can see it better on back side. The fabric I used for back is print. When I talk with my friends about the things I like they told me couple of time "it's Vasarely". I couldn't even remember the name at first but I looked that up and yes you should really check his work out! So the undertone of my piece is Vasarely :-) It measures 14x16". Also linking up with:
