Welcome to a new sketch from the MFT Challenge & Inspiration Blog. We're so glad you've decided to pay us a visit, and we hope that you'll be inspired! Below you'll find Sketch 296. Create cards, scrapbook layouts, home decor, treat containers, mixed media, etc. using this week's sketch and be sure to link your project below for a chance at the weekly My Favorite Things Gift Voucher worth up to $20. Join me in welcoming Amy Kolling back one last time as our Guest Designer this month! You can follow Amy's blog Stamp-N-Paradise for more of her pretty creations. Let's see how Amy interpreted her final sketch with us: This simple sketch affords you many creative options! Instead of stars, Amy pumps up her take on the sketch with colorful flowers from the Flashy Florals stamp set. The striped edges really add a POP to her design. The My Favorite Things Creative Team has been busy getting creative! Let's see what they have up their sleeves for Sketch 296! Barbara has striped edges, too, but she uses the white space in the middle of the sketch to add texture with the Grid stencil. The blue sentiment is a showstopper amidst her otherwise neutral design. Jodi took inspiration from the stars in the sketch adding some sparkle to her sentiment. The edges on her card sparkle, too! But the star of the show is her fantastic ombre effect created with the Geometric Grid stencil. For Joy's design, she kept most of the card very simple with the neutral panel and edges. The pastel rainbow and encouraging sentiment make this take on Sketch 296 quite lovely. Her sequin placement hearkens to the stars of the sketch. Instead of stars, Keisha features colorful balloons in her design. You can see that she also shrank the main panel so that more of the edges would show the crisp black and white background created with the Herringbone Bricks stencil. Congratulations, Lois Ichimura! You are the randomly selected winner of last week’s sketch challenge. You can view all the entries for last week’s challenge HERE. Hi! Today we are sharing cards created from the May Card Kit from My Favorite Things in combination with other fabulous MFT products. The kit will be available in the shop tomorrow night at 10pm EST. The kit this month is called Flashy Florals and has lots of wonderful cardmaking goodies. I wanted to go more graphic than usual and came up with this design - it is not what I'd usually make but think it came out all right. I started by stamping the large flower and leaves with black hybrid ink. I don't own a MISTI (yet) but think it would have been perfect for this card. All new products will be available for purchase tonight at 10pm EST. Complete product details, videos and links to all designers playing along with today's featured products can be found at the MFT Blog. I'll be back tonight at 10pm EST for the New Product Launch with My Favorite Things! There's nothing more frustrating than stamping an image and not getting full ink coverage. We're here to unlock some expert advice on How To Get a Solid Stamped Image with Clear Stamps! Today's video will give you tips on prepping your clear stamps for the best ink coverage. Stephanie shares great ideas to do just that! You'll never get a blotchy image again (well, we can't guarantee that, but this video sure will help)! Watch the video below or click here (MFT Tips & Tricks | How To Get a Solid Stamped Image with Clear Stamps) to watch it on YouTube. Don't forget to subscribe to our YouTube channel so that you don't miss a single tutorial! I'm not going to lie, I really needed to watch that. Now you and I can be expert stampers, too! This is just one of several videos in our Tips & Tricks Playlist. Check out the other videos HERE for more great ideas! Let's take a look at a few examples of some projects that feature crisply stamped solid images. Julie achieves amazingly crisp images with vibrant ink colors using the Flashy Florals Card Kit. While the kit sold out in a flash, these stamps and Die-namics will be available in a future release, so stay tuned! Stephanie creates a party in card form with the Party Patterns stamp set. Look how awesome those solid circles look. What a pro! Our layering stamps often come with solid and detail stamps, so it's important that the solid image stamps perfectly. Kay rocks the Mini Modern Blooms stamp set and achieves solid stamping gold medal status! You will LOVE trying these techniques for prepping your stamps and be thrilled with the results. Be sure to tag #mftstamps when you post your projects online. We can't wait to see what you've made! Supplies used in today's video: InLinkz.com
For some reason, this past week has been weirdly busy. It seems every time I try to sit down in my craft room, something comes up. Nothing big. And we're okay health-wise, but all those little things that have to be done right this minute keep cropping up, and then it's on to another 'thing.' Those 'things' are beginning to get on my last nerve, however. I just want to craft, visit your blogs, and make cards! *sigh* Life. It really isn't all about me, is it? So I apologize for my absence. I got up extra early this morning, so I could get a few 'things' done and then put everything else on the back burner so I could play a little. At first when I saw Anita's card over at Muse, I was sure that nothing would come to mind. I don't have a single cone flower stamp, and I wasn't sure if I had anything even close. So I shut the tab and moved on. But my brain was cooking, and unbeknownst to me, it planned a card all out by its own darn self. My brain waited until I was working on another card idea, then went, "PING." We argued. I didn't think this idea was anywhere close to Anita's card. Brain said that her card was meant to be a muse, as in inspiration, and if I didn't post this one, that would be the last idea it would share for the rest of the week. *sigh* I gave in. Obviously brain went with flowers and colors. And don't tell brain I said this, but in real life, it's kinda pretty.... My brain's card: The tag was a RAK from Amy T. The flowers are a sort of NBUS from MFT, and the sentiment is from AE. There's a bit of gold heat embossing, and a few sequins (which really do match the orange flower centers...), and that's about it. Popped up two flowers just for funsies. And I've got to get back to doing a few more things. DH needs to get out of the house, so I dreamed up a few errands for us. You all have a great day, and as always...

The new MFT kit for May is here and its so cute! These florals are gorgeous and so easy to stamp. I picked some random colors and stamped them out. The dies are open, of course, and cut the flowers out perfectly centered. I added the flowers to a scored card base. Last, I die cut the hello out with adhesive paper and covered it in glitter. CAS and so easy! Head on over to the MFT blog to see more about the kit. I will be back tomorrow with another peek! Thanks for stopping in!

I stamped the background with the fabulous Scattered Surface Background, this new stamp gives you a wonderful, subtle print. The sentiment is from the Thanks & Hello Die-namics that is also included in the Flashy Florals Card Kit. The Flashy Florals Card Kit will be available on Tuesday, May 17th at 10:00pm EST. Hi everyone! Happy Tuesday! I am back today to share another card that I created using the INCREDIBLE new Flashy Florals Card Kit! I just cannot get enough of this kit…it is SO inspiring! It will be released tonight at 10PM right HERE in the MFT Boutique! I am seriously obsessed with the Flashy Florals Card Kit. OBSESSED. For my card today, I went a little “out of the box” and added a sentiment from the Label Maker Sentiments set, which I thought worked perfectly with the “thanks” die-cut! I started by stamping the flowers and leaves, cut from Smooth White Card Stock in the kit, using the Flashy Florals Die-namics, and then stamped them with Flashy Florals using the inks included in the kit. LOVE. I cut out “thanks” from the included Steel Grey Prestige Card Stock and then coated it with a Glaze Pen to give it a shiny look. I arranged the flowers onto a panel of Smooth White Card Stock cut with the Stitched Rectangle STAX Die-namics, popping them up with Jody Boosters. I used the Label Tape Die-namics to cut the Smooth White Card Stock panel and stamped it with “FRIEND” from Label Maker Sentiments using Black Licorice Premium Dye Ink. I popped it up with Jody Boosters and then added the “thanks” on top. I added a trio of rhinestones to the focal panel as well. I used Blueprints 13 Die-namics to cut a panel of the included Ripe Raspberry Prestige Card Stock and stamped it with the included, and totally fabulous, Scattered Surface Background, using the included Pure Plum Premium Dye Ink. There's still time to participate in Color Challenge 60! Remember, you don't have to have the EXACT colors to play. Just use colors inspired by the ones you see below. Add in touches of neutrals like white, black, or kraft, but challenge yourself to incorporate all four of the colors. This challenge features soft colors to inspire you — Peach Bellini, Summer Splash, Tropical Teal, and Grout Gray. Once you've created your card, you can add it to the InLinkz located HERE. You could win a gift card to the My Favorite Things online store worth up to $20. So I'm just gonna leave THAT right there! A shout out to our challenge participants! We already have quite a few entries for this color challenge, but there is always room for more. Let's check out a couple of fun projects submitted so far: Oh my GOODNESS, I just love what Ashwini did with her background. She's stamped bits and pieces from the Flashy Florals stamp set in gray all over her card base, and then softened it with the clean white banners she created with the Stitched Jumbo Fishtail Banner STAX Die-namics. This design allows the colorful flowers in the colors of challenge 60 to shine. Donna Gourley created a cute under the sea scene with our Soak up the Fun stamp set. The colors of this challenge work really well with an aquatic theme. OK, so what are you waiting for? If you've never participated in one of our color challenges, this is me officially throwing down a challenge! Let's see what you've got!

I'm back with two more cards that feature the new Flashy Florals Card Kit. This amazing kit will be available on Tuesday, May 17 at 10:00pm EST. For my first card I stamped the flowers in Ripe Raspberry and Pure Plum Premium Dye Ink, the leaves were done in Fuse Green and Jellybean Green ink. I used the fabulous Scattered Surface Background in a few random spots on the the Horizontal Stitched Strips. The sentiment is from the Rainbow Greetings stamp set. My next card has a completely different look. I stamped the flower and leaves in Red Hot, Fuse Green, and Jellybean Green Premium Dye Ink. I added a little extra pattern to the background with the Distressed Patterns stamp set. The sentiment is from the Friends like Us stamp set. Hi Friends! My Favorite Things is releasing their May Card kit tomorrow night at 9:00 PM EST! This month's kit is all about flowers and it's beautiful! The Flashy Florals Card Kit features bold blooms and lush leaves that allow you to fashion dramatic bouquets and accents. My card is "out of the box" which means I used some colors and items that are not included in the kit. I think the only thing that I used that is not included is the Cement Gray color ink and Stone Gray card stock. I stamped the Scattered Surface background with Cement Gray ink onto Stone Gray card stock. I then cut it down to fit across my card and glued that down. The flowers and leaves are stamped, cut out with the dies, and adhered with foam tape. The sentiment, I cut out three, glued those together and adhered that to my card. I also added a few clear PPP sequins to finish it off. These are also not included in the kit. This amazing kit will be released on Tuesday May 17th at 10:00 PM EST at My Favorite Things! You can stop by the MFT blog to see some more previews of what all is included in this amazing new kit, and check out what all the other participating design team members have done! Welcome! Today I have a floral card to share using the lovely My Favorite Things Stamps May Flashy Florals Kit. We actually had snow flurries here on Saturday, so these big flowers are just about all I have of Spring right now! (Not enough snow to stick, thankfully--just in case you wondered.) The May Flashy Florals kit will be available on Tuesday evening, May 17, at 10pm EST. Here is the inside of my card. I haven't used a sentiment inside yet, because I'm not sure what I want to use my card for; but I knew that I wanted to carry the same flower theme and colors to the inside my card. My card uses only ink, stamps, and cardstock available in the May Flashy Florals Kit. I added only one non-kit die to cut the oval window on my card front. I also used my Copic Airbrush System...

It's time! You may now purchase My Favorite Things May Card Kit--Flashy Florals-- in the MFT Store! Before you go (and you'd better run!) I'd like to share one more project using other MFT products in addition to the kit's contents. I prepared a white top folding card in landscape format and adhered the khaki striped paper that was cut with the rectangle element from Blueprints 24. The flowers and leaves were inked and spritzed with water before being stamped on watercolor card stock. After they were dried, I cut them out with their coordinating dies and assembled them on the card. For a bit of dimension, I gently pulled up some of the leaves. The sentiment was cut from brown card stock and adhered to the card, and a few gold sequins finished off the card. I have to admit that I'm not a "flower person" and I have a terrible track record when it comes to taking care of plants. But the Flashy Florals Kit makes me feel like I have two green thumbs! I had a blast creating with this kit and I hope you do, too! Thanks so much for stopping by during the countdown and release. Don't forget to comment on all the participating designers' blogs by Thursday, May 19th for a chance to win a $50 MFT gift voucher! InLinkz.com

Hi, everyone, are you ready??!! MFT’s Flashy Florals Card Kit is now available for purchase in the MFT Boutique! You’ve seen some amazing samples over the last couple of days from the design team and that’s just the tip of the creative iceberg—so many things you can do with this kit. Be sure to check by the MFT Blog for more info and more samples, then go snag yours! I have a card for you to show you some more “out of the box” ideas for using your kit. This card started with a Kraft card stock base, then I stamped the triple leaf image randomly with Versmark and went back and stamped the veins with Jellybean Green ink. It was a little hard to see the Versamark part but I love how the veins look just a little off center so it’s all good :) Next I stamped up three copies of the same leaves, stamping the solid image with Jellybean Green and the veins with Steel Gray dye ink, tied them together with hemp cord, and popped them up on foam mounting tape on the card base. I cut “thanks” from Steel Gray card stock three times, adhered them together and to the card front, then stamped the rest of the sentiment, from Kind Thanks, on Smooth White card stock with Jellybean Green ink and popped it up on foam, as well. To finish off I added some enamel dots. And there you have it—Flashy Florals Card Kit is in the store just for you! Happy shopping and have fun! Thanks for stopping by—see you soon! Just take a peek at this oh-so-pretty sketch that Leigh has designed for CTS #193! Lots of beautiful inspiration from the DT too, so be sure to take a look, get creative, and join in the fun! I was a little bit obsessed with trying out this persimmon/gray color combo that I'd seen somewhere in Pinterestland. So..... a bit of SSS for the bg, MFT flowers (I won't even guess at how many floral sets I have - never too many!) and a PTI sentiment die keep things clean and simple. We hope that you'll be inspired to play along at CAS(E) this Sketch #193 (where you also find a project from our amazing GD, Agnieszka!).

Please Note: The May MFT Stamps Flashy Florals kit is now SOLD OUT. The Flashy Florals stamp set will be available in a future release, however. Thanks! Welcome! Just popping in to share one more Flashy Florals card and to let you know that the MFT Stamps Flashy Florals Kit is now available! I chose non-kit colors for this card, all linked at the bottom of my post. I love layering flowers. Can you tell? :-) Here is the inside of my card, same color scheme as the front of my card and with the same Copic B32 Airbrushed background. I used Die-namics 27 on this card front--love that scalloped, stitched border! I wanted my flowers to show through the sentiment, so I used some vellum to heat emboss my sentiment on, and then attached it underneath the flowers on the left. For more inspiration, be sure to check the...
I'm putting this up on the blog to participate in Darnell's 2nd Annual April Fool's Boo-boo Hop and NBUS Challenge #11. Our entry can be sharing our boo-boo's and/or NBUS! No prizes, but just fun times seeing that we all have those moments! So here is the front of the card in all its glory! These are stamps and dies from My Favorite Things. You may be wondering, what's the problem? Well, the "problem" is that I had the entire card front adhered to my card base before beginning the sentiment inside! There must've been an earthquake when I stamped this sentiment! I guess I was in shock because I then promptly dropped the ink pad onto the card!! Argghhh!! What to do?!! Also notice the little smudge along the right side!! So I wracked my brain and Ta-da! It clicked into gear and saw the extra pieces and parts leftover from the front! Re-stamped the sentiment & die cut it with a Spellbinders die to cover the original boo-boo. The extra leaves and flower covered the ink smudges!! YAY! LOL! So the moral of this story, for me, is to consider completing the inside before finishing the front. We'll see if that happens.....haha! Thanks so much for taking a look!

Sneaking in at the last hour with an entry for the current My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge: supplies: white and black cardstock, MFT Flashy Florals stamps and dies, MFT fabulous die, Simon's Stitched Rectangles die, Hero Arts Wallpaper Background woodblock from 1999, various sequins, adhesive foam squares I was so enthralled with Karolyn's velveteen stamping here, that I went the same route, using a very old Hero Arts ditzy floral stamp for my pattern. This is a technique invented by Shari Carroll when she was a Hero Arts artist; basically you stamp a pattern in white pigment ink on white cardstock, and when it's dry, overstamp your designs.....the white pattern will float upwards and be subtly visible through the overstamped colors. Here's the sketch:
Hello, everyone! We have a gorgeous kit for you this month! These bold flowers are going to be a huge hit and we can't wait to see what you create with them! This is Flashy Florals Card Kit Reveal Day 1. The kit will be available for purchase tomorrow night, May 17th, at 10pm EDT. Be sure to check by the MFT Blog for all the details and more samples from the talented MFT Design Team. These flowers are flashy indeed! Really nice size so you need very little else but a sentiment for a full and balanced card. Today’s card is “in the box” meaning, other than for some foam mounting tape and Steel Gray dye ink, I used only products found in the kit. And it’s packed with color, is this kit. I started with a Smooth White card stock base and stamped the background that comes in the kit (YES this kit has a red rubber background stamp!), called Scattered Surface Background, with Steel Gray dye ink. Then, on foam tape, I popped up another panel of Smooth White card stock on which to work. I stamped the flowers on Smooth White card stock with, top to bottom, Ripe Raspberry and Pure Plum ink, then Orange Zest and Red Hot inks, and finally, Periwinkle and Eggplant inks. All of the centers were stamped with Steel Gray dye ink and the leaves were stamped with Fuse Green and Jellybean Green inks. After I adhered the flowers to my card front I cut the “thanks” from the included Thanks & Hello Die-namics three times, adhered them together for dimension, and added it to the card front. I love this classic but bold look—this is going to be a great kit to have in your stamping arsenal. Thanks so much for stopping by! See you back tomorrow for Reveal Day 2! Hi! Today the May Card Kit from My Favorite Things. is available in the shop - it is called Flashy Florals and has lots of wonderful cardmaking goodies. I started out by making a cardbase from white cardstock. I then stamped and embossed the beautiful bg that comes with the kit to get some subtle teture on my panel. Instead of stamping the flowers I simply diecut them from white cardsdtock and inked them and then layered them onto a mini scallop stitched oval to create a rose. This kit is so versatile it will keep you busy creating new designs for many months! And useful for so many different occasions too. All new products will be available for purchase tonight at 10pm EST. Complete product details, videos and links to all designers playing along with today's featured products can be found at the MFT Blog.
