Winter’s coming, and it can’t be helped that some of us are feeling a tad blue. We want nothing more than to wrap ourselves in a warm blanket with a steaming mug of hot cocoa, our beloved pets by our side, and a cozy movie marathon on the TV. Alas! We’ve got grown-up responsibilities like work, studying, and worrying about the future to do. It’s enough to make anyone feel demotivated!

Mice are happy, playful and active creatures and are great fun to watch. Some fancy mice are extremely pretty and there are lots of different coat colours and patterns. Mice get to know their owners and when well socialised will come to take treats from you, climb onto your hand and up to your shoulder.

To celebrate World Rat Day, we've decided to show you that pet rats can be the cutest animals ever. Just look at that baby rat snuggling the tiny teddy bear!
The trio of tiny mice were photographed by Alex Meek, 31, near his home in Scarborough, North Yorkshire. At one point, the creatures looked like they were about to topple off the barley stalks.
