A wonderful, rare and unusual exercise machine in the form of a mechanical horse. The cast iron frame houses a three speed electric motor that moves the "body" that is fitted with a special leather saddle. The machine retains the majority of its original black paint and gilt line border together with the original brass plaque on the handle bar. Manufactured by Spencer, Heath & George of England. These machines were used in the gymnasium on board the fated liner RMS Titanic along with other ocean liners of the period. The machine is extremely rare only one other similar example is known in the Forbes Museum that once belonged to US President Calvin Coolidge. In good working condition retaining most of the oringal paint. however, the saddle is in need of repair and restoration.
