A pair of very fine early 20th century miniatures depicting a Mr & Mrs Bedwell. The couple are finely dressed in early 19th century clothing. Mr Bedwell wears a fashionable blue coat, while his wife is adorned with lace and ribbon. Both portraits are delicately composed and finely executed. Inscriptions on the reverse of both frames state that they were “Painted by Alfred Ward from a photograph of an old drawing, 1918". Both miniatures are wonderfully presented in fluted frames with gilt detail. On panel. Image Size: 11 x 8cm (4.3" x 3.1") Framed Size: 20 x 17cm (7.9" x 6.7") Artist Biography: Alfred Ward lived and worked in London. H was known to have exhibited at the Royal Academy, as well as Grosvenor Gallery between 1873 and 1915. He was also a member of the Society of British Artists, Suffolk Street and showed paintings there until 1927.
