This is really easy and very messy to make so don't have a go if you've just had your nails done! It's a great size to add as a spooky embellishment on the front of a card YOU WILL NEED: 1) one paper clip 2) one length if kitchen towel - (torn to about 20mm (0.75 inch) wide) 3) one length of brown paper (35mm wide x 170mm long (1.4inches wide x 6.5inches long) 4) PVA Glue 5) distressing inks 'forest moss' & 'brushed corduroy' 6) short length of sewing cotton 7) paint brush 8) crystal glitter to highlight (optional) 9) Ranger 'Glue N seal' to finish (optional) INSTRUCTIONS: 1) Start with your paper clip and straighten it out. 2a) Cut it to around 70mm (2.75inches) long 2b) Give it a 'witchy bend' or two 3) Dab your inks onto a waterproof surface - I've used a glass coaster here. 4a) Squeeze some PVA glue onto the ink and mix the colours into it. You don't need as much glue as this - my nozzle popped off!!! 4b) Drag the kitchen towel through to load it with the mix. 5) Bind the paper clip to the end and back again. Don't worry if it hangs off either end you can trim when it's dry 6) Clean the glue off your surface and apply more ink. Roll the 'broom handle to and fro to pick up more colour. This is best done before the 'handle' dries. note: You can also pick up the ink on a paintbrush to cover any stubborn recesses (clean your brush straight after). 7) Ink up your length of brown paper - using the same colours as before. 8) Allow to dry, or blast dry with a heat gun, then cut fine strips across the full length. 8a) Be sure to leave about 15mm (0.6 of an inch) uncut along the top. 9a) Cut fine slits across the other (top) side leaving about 6mm (0.25 inches) uncut 9b) You don't have to do this all the way along about three quarters of the length then trim off from there 10) Run some glue down the uncut area and, starting with the trimmed end (shown in 9b), roll the paper length tightly onto the 'broom handle' 11) This is how it should look 12) Run your length of cotton through some ink to colour it. Apply glue to the uncut area of your 'broom' and wind the cotton tightly round. 13) When the glue has dried snip into the broom you're aiming to make the 'bristles' irregular in length 14) Scrunch the 'bristles' to make tem untidy - think 'bed head' hair style (scruffier the better)! Fan out the short bristles - (along the top, nearest the handle). You can highlight with crystal glitter or just varnish with something like Rangers 'Glue N Seal' It has a matte finish but gives a nice gentle glow. Hope you give it a go and thanks for popping by! X
Hey there, happy 2014 crafty friends! Did everyone have a great Christmas and New Year's? I was sick with the flu! I'm getting better every day, but alas, the cough lingers. Ugh! I have some exciting news to share with you though...I was invited to be on the Stamping Bella Design Team! Whoop! With that said, here is my first project as a Bella Babe... I blew the dust off the 'ol brayer to use for the background. As you can see from the dark line at the top, I could use a little practice. *snort* I'm really not sure what happened, but I'm going to say dusk is turning to night and well, it is what it is! Ha! Anyway, after the sky was inked, I decided to use Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch #200 for the layout. It's a loose interpretation of the sketch, but if you look closely, all of the elements are there...I did scoot the banner to the right hand side to make room for the Uptown Girl. The image, Opal the Optimist was stamped with Tuxedo Black, colored with Copic markers, fussy cut then popped up on foam. My Favorite Things die cut elements complete the card. I'm also entering this into Little Red Wagon's #218 New Beginnings challenge. I'm celebrating a new beginning on the Stamping Bella DT and also used a new Uptown Girl stamp. Love her! COPIC COLORING: SKIN: E11, E01, E00, E000, E0000, R30, BV20 HAIR: E43, E42, E41 DRESS: B23, B21, RV02, RV000 SHOES: RV02, RV000 WINE BOTTLE: B26, B24, B23, C2, C0, 0 WINE: RV02, RV000 WINE GLASS: BG72, BG70, 0 Bellarific Fridays returns next week, January 10, with the first official challenge of the year! It's all about inspiration next week...use any element or the overall "feeling" you get from the photo to create your project then email it to Em for your chance to win! Here's your inspiration...I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with! Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Mother's Day to all the Mums, hope you had a great day with lots of love and hugs from your family. I have had several ladies with me today doing the One-sheet Wonder Class, we had a lot of laughs and really enjoyed the day. During the class we talked about some basic card sketches which are quick and easy to do and how they could be used in their card making. The ladies went home with 12 cards from one piece of designer series paper. I am sharing the cutting template (at the bottom of this post) and card instructions with you. The cutting template is not to scale, however the measurements are detailed. The designer series paper sheet used to make the cards is from the Birthday Bouquet Designer Series paper pack. Punch out using the matching punches Fun Flower, Pansy and Petite Petals. Layer up with dimensionals and add an Iced Rhinestone for the flower centre. Create the leaves using Whisper White and the Botanical Builder Framelit Dies. Ink the edges of the leaves with Pool Party. Add Silver Metallic Thread to the back of the flower and adhere to the flower mat. Add some Rhinestones to finish panel. Sentiment Panel – Pool Party 10cm x 4.4cm, Designer Series Paper (DSP) 10cm x 3.9cm. Stamp the sentiment from the Wetlands Stamp Set using Basic Black Archival ink. I figured there’s probably nobody reading this that wouldn’t want to yell out, “Exactly!” at this sentiment. Being a plastic, polymer gets this attitude more than our comparable crafts such as metal…
