This is my first camera ever -- the Fisher-Price Picture Story Camera. It's made of paper-covered wood and plastic. Inside is a little disc with eight scenes. When you press the shutter button, the scene changes and the flash cube turns. The flash cube has a picture of the sun on one side, then a brown leaf, a snowflake, and a flower, representing the four seasons. There's also a transparent wheel at the back (seen behind the shutter) with colors in it. You look through the second viewfinder and turn the wheel, and you can see the world through the changing colors. The lens turns but has no actual function. It also has a nifty red & yellow wrist strap, though it's not visible in this photo. This wonderful toy was made in 1967. I will try to re-shoot this camera, as this is a pretty poor photo of it.
Althought it's hard to blame it, my camera ate all of my Camembert de Normandie (pictures), which I discovered when I went to download them. I was miffed (to say the least…), but in the end, decided that it was tough to blame my mischievous machine because I understand how hard it is to be around a perfectly ripe Camembert de Normandie and not want
These fascinating photos of London in 1973 are shown courtesy of Antydiluvian on Flickr – he described his trip to me: “My camera was a Minolta SRT101, and London was the first stop on a month-long tour of Europe my wife and I took on our own.” He wasn’t impressed with the food: Much of … Continue reading "‘An Utterly Different City’ – London in 1973"

Happiness sometimes seems very elusive. The more you chase it, the harder it seems to catch it. It’s a by-product of living meaningfully and listening to what your body and mind need. However, you don’t necessarily have to win a Nobel prize fto live with purpose. Spending time with the people you care about, slowing down and being present in the moment, allowing yourself to take in the beauty of the world around you—that’s how we befriend happiness.

The architect promises that within a few days some walls will be smoothed, primed, base coat of paint applied, and thus ready for me to start painting. I sure hope so! We’ve already been here 6 days and the countdown moves so fast — I only have 2 1/2 weeks here this trip. I can come back whenever enough vacation accrues and … Continue reading "India pied-à-terre Alcove Paint Plan"
