I had completely forgotten that I had completed a magazine commission last November for Lili of the Valley and it was being published this month so what a nice surprise I had when I saw it on the shop shelf today with one of my cards making the front page! Yep, that's my girlie card on the front - I am sure Christine will be very proud of me using so much pink! Here's a peek at the cards I made... I used papers from the Country Meadow and Snow Princess pads and you can find all of the girl stamps in this section here. I used my new Polychromos pencils and lots of My Favorite Things dies. I'm off now to do all of my post holiday ironing and later going for a family dinner to celebrate Chinese New Year. Enjoy the rest of your weekend and I'll be back on Tuesday with my SugarPea Designs DT post. Ta ta!
Happy Monday, everyone! I'm starting this week off with the "twin" to last week's LOTV card. Both are watercolored roses, both done in pretty much the same colors, but with just a slight twist to make them individual in nature. Today's card uses the single rose from Set 66, Grunge Elements (along with just the top of the leafy branch in the same set) and pairs it with one of the quotes from Inspirational Sentiments ... I used patterned papers from several different LOTV paper pads...the black dot is from Father Knows Best, the green solid from Pressed in Time, and the pretty pink is from Heartfelt. Here are a few detail shots around the front... The small sentiment stamped and embossed onto a strip of vellum over the crocheted lace is from LOTV's Set 25, Handwritten Phrases ... Supplies: Patterned papers: LOTV Father Knows Best, Pressed in Time, and Heartfelt Stamps: LOTV Set 66/Grunge Elements, Set 25/Handwritten Phrases, and Inspirational Sentiments Flowers: Wild Orchid Crafts Pink stamens: ChocolateLetters on Etsy Die: Sizzix Flowers Branches & Leaves Pearls: Recollections Crocheted Lace: local craft store Miscellaneous: Sakura Koi watercolors, twine, clear embossing powder, vellum Thanks so much for visiting today...I hope your week is starting with a smile!

TGIF...happy Friday, everyone! Today's card is filled with the spirit of Valentine love, but made up in a colorway that's just short of ordinary. Lili of the Valley has a beautiful new paper pad out called Mr. & Mrs. and as beautiful as these papers are for wedding and anniversary cards, I thought they'd be just as special on a Valentine, using a monochromatic white/grey/black combo with just a touch of pink...so that's just what I used it for... The floral cluster is one large dusty pink rose made using Spellbinders' Rose Creation dies, surrounded with smaller mulberry paper roses, grey pearl stick pins, and a small pearl flourish... To the right, a piece of white lace colored with Distress Inks to complement the paper colors, and highlighted with a couple Valentine stamps from Set 22, Love Sentiments, shabbily stamped in Watering Can grey ink just above the lace trim... And the main sentiment, also from Love Sentiments, sitting atop a little cluster in the lower right corner... Inside, I used a die cut and a sweet little sentiment from the A5 Verses set... Supplies: LOTV Patterned Papers: Mr. & Mrs. LOTV Stamps: Set 22, Love Sentiments; Set 10, A5 Verses Dies: Spellbinders Lace Hearts, and Rose Creations; My Favorite Things Royal Leaves; La-La Land Crafts Honeycomb and Heart Doily Border Lace: TheFunkieJunkie.com Small roses: Wild Orchid Crafts Pearl flourishes: Prima Pearl stick pins: Maya Road Miscellaneous: Pumice Stone and Spun Sugar Distress Inks; twine; white craft paint Thanks so much for visiting today...have a wonderful weekend!
Hello again!! :) I’m back with my second and third Christmas cards and my first with my new Lili of the Valley Xmas stamps :D :D I think I may have alluded to the fact that I bought rather more of these little cuties than I had intended to...but I just couldn’t resist!!! And I love them all so much!!! :) The biggest problem I had was knowing where to start playing!! One of the reasons- aside from their utter gorgeousness that is!!- that I love these bears so much is because of a decoupage card kit I got from C&C a couple of years ago; before that I’d never bought a decoupage kit as I’ve always loved stamping too much but I loved the little bears so much that I had to have it!! I made all my Christmas cards from it that year, loving every minute of working with the gorgeous bears, and, when I went back to the remains of the kit last year to make up a card as a request from a friend, I found myself smiling from ear to ear all over again :) And so when I saw the LOTV James and Jenny bears, which are the same adorable characters, I was so happy that I went all mushy again and lost all restraint- well, not quite true I didn’t buy all of them...yet... ;) I loved the look of my last monochrome card and the paper I used so much, and the paper was perfect for the LOTV Challenge, so I used it again for these cards :) I cut half the front off the base cards (I’m still trying to make two cards the same or similar whenever possible to build up my stocks- a particularly good idea with any Xmas cards I manage to make, I think) and then cut a square of dotty paper slightly smaller than the base cards and cut it half diagonally, too, to line both cards. This image wasn’t the first I stamped or even coloured, but as soon as I had the stamps, I wanted to enter the LOTV challenge and the idea for this card just popped into my head so I inked her up :) The bears from the C&C kit were in black and white with just a little colour in their hats etc. and that was the look I was trying to recreate for myself. I had to wait for the Cool Greys Promarker pack I’d ordered in readiness to arrive, but then I got going :) Jenny is coloured using Cool Greys 1, 2, 3 & 4 and for her hat, scarf and shopping bags I used Slate (one of my new colours which I love :) ), Lavender and Rose Pink, all of which were blended out with the Blender Pen :) I was so worried I wouldn’t be able to get this look right as I wanted to so much but, although I know my colouring’s still far from perfect, I’m really pleased with how it came out- and better still, it came out right first time!! :) I used circle and scalloped Nesties to cut her out and then added plenty of Crystal Stickles to her hat, the ground and all around the edge for some Xmas sparkle!! :) The sentiments and snowflake rounds are more of the ones I’ve been designing whilst playing around with the new graphics program I downloaded- I still can’t quite believe a technophobe like me could do that but I think the key to any improvement I may have made with computers is the development of a ‘dog with a bone’ mentality of just not giving up ‘til I get the (d**m!) thing to do what I want it to!! lol – printed out and cut with Nesties (I sized them to fit first) and matted on Nestie Blossoms cut from glittery black card :) The snowflake is from a free font I found online :) I also used more of the fab hat pins from Crafty Emma's :) And this pic is just to show the circles in the paper and pearls- I promise I’ll stop taking pics of pearls soon, I just love the way they look- and it is relevant to the challenge as they're circles!! ;) A pic of both cards together :) I love these so much that I think I’ll save one of them to be my sister’s Xmas Card and change the sentiment to include the word ‘Sister’- one of the great things about being able to make them myself!! :) But I may change my mind if I make something I think she’ll like even more so I’ll leave doing that till nearer the time!! :D So, firstly, I’d like to enter this in the Lili of the Valley Challenge – Go Dotty for Circles :) My first of many entries I hope!! :) And I’d also like to enter it in the following: Winter Wonderland – All I Want For Christmas :) ; Wild Orchid Crafts – Make It Sparkle :) ; Paper Sundaes – Christmas in August :) ; Crafty Cardmakers Spotlight – Glitter and Sparkle :) ; Creative Inspirations – Christmas in August :) ; CES – Anything Goes :) ; and Passion For ProMarkers - Teddy Bears' Picnic :) Wow- now I just have to go and link all those up...!! ;) Thank you to all the people who’ve left such lovely comments on my last cards- it really does make such a difference to me as I’m not usually able to be with people when they open my cards and it’s great to hear what people think of them :) :) Hope you’re all having a good week!! :) I’m off for a much needed rest then back to work later on my next big project- my Aunty’s 60th card- a learning curve for sure!! :) hugs,
Hi Everyone! Hope everyone had a great weekend! We went huckleberrying on Saturday. We didn't find a lot of berries (enough for huckleberry pancakes Sunday morning with more left over), but it was really nice getting away for a picnic and drive. Today is my dad's birthday so I thought I would share the card I created for him. He has a large garden and really enjoys spending time in it. So, I thought this image from Lili of the Valley was perfect for his card. The image is called Vegetable Patch. I colored the image with copic markers (listed below) and used some patterned papers from Echo Park. The sentiment is one you can customize in the middle with whomever the card is for and is from the For Him Sentiments set. Thanks so much for stopping by! An extra thanks to those of you who take the time to leave comments. I love hearing from my blog readers! It makes me feel like I'm not just talking to myself! lol :) Niki happy birthday dad card supplies: Stamps: Vegetable Patch, For Him Sentiments (Lili of the Valley) Cardstock: X-Press It (Copic), brown Patterned Paper: (Echo Park) Ink: Tuxedo Black Memento (Tsukineko) Embellishments: yellow twine, wooden buttons Copic Markers pots: E13, E15, E17, E19, E18 skin: E000, E00, E11, E13 pants: BG70, custom marker (3/4 BG70 & 1/4 BG72) BG72, BG75 shirt: W1, W3, Y15, Y35, Y38, W4 hat: E33, E35, E37 boots: W4, W6, W8, W10 rake: E31, E33, E35, C1, C3, C5, YG61, YG63, YG67 grass: YG61, YG63, YG67 dirt: E31. Good Wednesday morning, everyone! Before I share today's card, there are a couple sale offers going on over at Lili of the Valley on the new stamps...and there's still time for you to take advantage of them! One lasts until tomorrow midnight (UK time)... And one ends Friday, August 8, midnight (UK time)... The card I'm sharing today uses one of the sentiments in the new Set 75, Christmas Wishes (the same one pictured in the graphic above), only I've used some of the beautiful new papers from the new Enchantment paper pad and an accent dark purple paper from the new Snow Princess Solids paper pad to make a card geared toward autumn and the season of Thanksgiving... The clock peeking out behind the floral cluster is a stamp from Set 66, Grunge Elements, watercolored with Distress Inks... The florals include a larger rust-colored fabric flower from Petaloo, topped with mulberry roses and asters in brown, cream, and purple, accented with golden pearls... The little frame was created with air-dry clay, then rubbed with brown ink, and finally topped with Frayed Burlap Distress Stickles, for just a bit of vintage sparkle... Next, the sentiment from the new Christmas Wishes set, stamped onto a banner and inked around the edges for a vintage feel.. The little tag tucked in at the top of the card pulls out to display a second sentiment from Set 58, Pretty Grungy/Good Times...the tag is topped with a spray of raffia with purple twine accents... Supplies: Patterned papers: LOTV Enchantment, and Snow Princess Solids Stamps: LOTV Set 75, Christmas Wishes; Set 66, Grunge Elements; Set 58, Pretty Grungy/Good Times Dies: Sizzix Flowers Branches & Leaves; Tim Holtz Tattered Banners Edge punch: Martha Stewart Swirling Lace Frame: Martha Stewart mold & air dry clay Mulberry flowers: Wild Orchid Crafts Fabric flower: Petaloo Pearls: Recollections Purple twine: The Twinery Miscellaneous: hemp twine, Distress Stickles, Distress Inks, raffia Thanks for visiting today!

Hello everyone! Hope you're enjoying your weekend! Today I have a beautifully sweet image from LOTV to show you. This is for my wonderful sister for Christmas and is called Feathered Friends... I coloured with Distress Markers. The papers I layered up are by Fancy Pants. I die cut some birch trees and cardinals using an Impression Obsession dies which I thought was rather apt- just pretend the cardinals are robins! I added Stickles to the birch trees. Finally just added a pre-done sentiment. Thought the silver looked lovely against the papers and the trees. Here's your close up! Sigh, I wish LOTV would release more of these type of images!! I miss them! Crafty stash used: Stamps (LOTV); Distress Markers; Papers (Fancy Pants); Dies (Impression Obsession); Cardstock (PTI); Stickles; Sentiment (Craftwork Cards)
If you didn't already know, next month, Lili of the Valley celebrates its 10th birthday, and in celebration, there's a birthday card challenge going on right now...and I hope you'll join in, too! Each of us on the design team have made a special card just for the day. Today it's my turn to share my card in honor of a wonderful company that I'm so happy to be working with. I love the beautiful rose papers in the Always & Forever paper pad, so it was my first choice for this card...there are so many surfaces to cover that I didn't have to choose only one or two...I had lots of options... I first saw this card design last April on Marianne's blog ... and after a good bit of oohing-and-aahing, spent a bigger bit of time trying to find a tutorial so I could make one like it. It seems to be a cross between a gate-fold card and a napkin-fold card, but I had no luck finding an existing tutorial. So, as you can imagine, I used quite a few (at least 5) pieces of cardstock trying to find the magic combination of folds, creases, punches, etc. to get the look. Then, when I finally did, I set the folded and punched card aside for another day when I had time to "gussy" it up just the right way, and write up some sort of tutorial. And there it sat, and I had almost forgotten I had it there in my "template" basket, until it was time to make up the LOTV birthday card. It was the perfect occasion to tackle this card again. As luck would have it, in the meantime, an online friend of mine got the same idea, and wrote the perfect tutorial...and that's when I said to myself, "self, why didn't you just wait until Rebecca got her hands on it and save yourself a lot of time and cardstock?!" So if you decide you'd like to try a card like this for yourself, head on over here to Rebecca's blog, where her tutorial makes it look so much more stress-free than I remember feeling as I was experimenting with it...LOL. The fun part is that there are so very many places on this card to add embellishments and decorations...and the removable large tag is what holds it all together. The large sentiment on the tag is from LOTV's Set 61, Quotables/Celebrate ...the stamped roses are from Set 66, Grunge Elements (I stamped them verrrrrrry lightly to add to the "grunge" background look)...and of course, the lace and pearls I can always find a spot for on my cards... The mini tag at the top of the large tag is stamped with a sentiment from Set 29, Vintage Sentiments/Just to Say ... Once you remove the tag, the card stands open like this... There are two different papers from the Always & Forever pad used on the front. On the pink-striped corners, I stamped a decorative corner from Set 68, Corners, and heat-embossed them with white embossing powder. With the pretty rose papers I used, I couldn't resist decorating the front corners with pink and red mulberry roses, accented with a small leaf stem and shabbied up a bit with a snippet of cheesecloth... On the inside of the card, a couple more patterns from the Always & Forever paper pad were used, and a sentiment block added to the center. The sentiment verse is from the A5 Verses set, and the cursive sentiment is from Set 25, Handwritten Phrases ... A little more lace and pearl trim was the final touch... Supplies: Patterned papers: LOTV Always & Forever paper pad Stamps: LOTV Set 61, Quotables/Celebrate; Set 66, Grunge Elements; Set 29, Vintage Sentiments/Just to Say; Set 68, Corners; Set 10, A5 Verses; Set 25, Handwritten Phrases Edge Punch: Martha Stewart Swirling Lace PATP Scalloped Lace: TheFunkieJunkie.com Pearl spray: local craft store Pearl flourishes & mini pearls: Recollections Flowers: Wild Orchid Crafts Hug Snug seam binding Miscellaneous: cheesecloth, white embossing powder, white craft paint To recap, I used (4) different pieces of patterned paper from the 8"x 8" Always & Forever paper pad to decorate this card (one of the papers used on the inside of the card was also used on the large tag), (1) 12" x 12" piece of white cardstock for the card base, and (1) 12" x 12" piece of red cardstock as "mats" for the patterns, the large tag base, and front corners between the pieces of white cardstock. If you like using images on your cards, the large tag is a perfect place for one (as Marianne did on her original card), and you could have some fun adding them to the side pieces on the inside of the card, too. But since my focus on the LOTV team is the use of sentiment stamps and patterned papers, I decided it was the perfect opportunity for me to use several sentiment stamps on their birthday card! I hope you'll join in on the Monthly Challenge going on right now on the Ideas to Inspire Challenge blog and enter your birthday card for LOTV...we'd love to see what you can create! Thanks so much for stopping by today!
Happy Friday, everyone! I'm ending this week with a shabby chic all-occasion card showcasing some of Lili of the Valley's beautiful new paper lines...and it just so happens that this month's challenge on the LOTV Ideas to Inspire blog is "Pretty Papers." Right up my alley! :) It's a "simply shabby chic" style card, using papers from several of the new lines. All the LOTV paper pads have several colorways of beautifully coordinated papers, but every now and then I like to challenge myself to see if I can blend several different lines of papers, and end up with a project that looks like it was made to go together. One of the things I like most about LOTV's papers is that I end up with a successful challenge every time I try it! Today's card blends a pink striped pattern and a small pink-on-pink patterned paper from the new On a High Note pad, with a brown dotted pattern from the Enchantment pad, and finally, a tan and pink floral from the Country Meadow line... Here are a few closeups of the floral cluster, starting with a top-down view of the closed rosebud stem... I love these pretty painted buttons...perfect for a colorful touch atop a couple loopy twine bows... And finally, a closeup of the sentiment from Set 29, Vintage Sentiments/Just to Say stamped onto a small tag that's been shabbied around the edges and topped with another loopy twine bow... Supplies: Patterned papers: LOTV On a High Note, Enchantment, and Country Meadow Stamp: LOTV Set 29, Vintage Sentiments/Just to Say Dies: My Favorite Things Royal Leaves; La-La Land Crafts Honeycomb Flowers: Wild Orchid Crafts Painted button: TheFunkieJunkie.com Pearls: Recollections Miscellaneous: white hemp twine, cheesecloth As a reminder...there's blog candy given away **daily** over on the LOTV Ideas To Inspire blog...there's a link button to it over there on the right sidebar --> --> --> --> --> . All you need to do to get your name in the draw for the daily blog candy is leave a comment on the I2I blog post...how easy is that! And for some more fun news, LOTV is now a Platinum Partner at Splitcoast Stampers. If you're not already a member of this forum, check it out...it's free to join, and it's a wealth of information and inspiration. Thanks so much for stopping by today...have a wonderful weekend!
Hi there I have my next Collective card to share today. I posted a little sneak last week. I have to admit this little fellow was stamped a few weeks back and I tried several different ways to colour him, none of which I was happy with so I pulled out (and dusted off) my watercolour pencils and quickly realised they were perfect for this image. I hand drew the clouds into the background and added highlights with a white gel pen. He then sat for another few days as I couldn't decide how to put him on a card as I wanted the image to be the focal point. I finally decided to keep the design pretty simple. I don't know about you but I really like the end result. And just because I feel you need to get up close to this one...... Hello, everyone! It's time for another Lili of the Valley design team blog hop today, with inspiration for using the latest products that will be available to purchase on the website from midday (UK time) Monday, February 24th. This release is featuring 6 *beautiful* new paper pads, 5 new art pads, and another new set of the popular sentiment tags representing all your family members... I think you'll find lots of beautiful ideas along the hop - just travel from one blog to another, following the links below, and leave a comment on each blog post. As always, there are some hidden prizes on the hop...but we on the team don't know whose blogs are the "lucky" ones! The winners will be drawn at random from all the comments left on the "lucky" blogs. This time, there's a full set of the 6 new paper pads to give away - 2 lucky winners will each receive 3 of the new paper pads. A third prize of a set of the new family sentiment tag stamps is also on the prize list for a third lucky winner. So be sure to visit and leave a comment on each blog hop post to get your name in the drawing for one of three great prizes! Here's the link list of all the blogs participating in this hop... Ideas to Inspire Anne Becky Dawny Debbie Dena Elise Fleur Gretha Jen Kathy (you're here!) Mary J Mindy Today's card features the new "Pressed in Time" collection. I stamped two of the corner images from Set 21, Grunge Corners and embossed them with peridot green embossing powder. After stamping the sentiment from Set 62, Quotables/Friendship, I highlighted the edges of the key words using a white Uni Ball Signo pen to make it stand out a bit more... The little butterflies are punched from coral pink vellum, with just a touch of Diamond Stickles on the wings... I didn't have any dark coral roses in my stash, so out came some acrylic paint and the small paint brush, and after some dry-brushing with the dark coral paint, you'd never know these roses didn't start out this color... One of my favorite newer tools is the Martha Stewart Beaded Ruffle Edge punch. Here, I cut just the scalloped edging off the punched paper, inked it for accent, and after "scrunching" it just a little to shabby it up, glued the ends of the ruffles under the torn paper edges... If you get lost at any time along the way, you can refer to the list above, or head back to Ideas to Inspire to pick up the links there. Finally, don't forget to stop by the Ideas to Inspire blog on Monday morning to find out who the lucky winners are before the new products are available on the LOTV site. Thanks so much for visiting today...enjoy the blog hop, and good luck to you all!
Hi, everyone! Sorry for the irregular blog posting schedule these days...crafting is still happening, though, and soon I'll get caught up! Today is a fun blog hop with my Lili of the Valley teammates, to give you a peek at some of the wonderful new stamps that will be available in the shop on January 31. There are new rubber stamps, and clear stamps, 2 sets of cute mini images, and some fairy sentiments (one of which I've used on my card). As always, there's a prize up for grabs...one lucky commenter will be picked at random to receive a set of all the new stamps in this release. But we on the team don't know whose blog the lucky commenter will be chosen from, so to increase your chances of winning, be sure to leave a comment on all the participating blogs! The winning name will be pulled on Friday, so check back here then to see who the lucky one is. In the meantime, here's a full linked-up list of the participating blogs...hop them all and have some fun! Andrea Anne Becky Dawny Fleur Gretha Jen Kathy (you're here! :)) Lou Mary Mindy So here's my card for today. You might remember that my focus on the team are the sentiment stamps and papers, so for this card, I chose one of the larger sentiments from the new Little Fairies clear stamp sheet as the main focal point, and backed it with one of the pretty spring-colored papers from the Butterfly Kisses paper pad. In fact, it was the name of the paper pad that gave me the idea for the theme of this card, and inspired me to use the butterfly die border... I die cut the border on both the front and back of the card, and on the front only, diecut more pieces of the butterflies and flowers in pink as an accent...that way I could turn up the butterfly wings slightly on the front piece for a bit of fun dimension and use the diecut edge on the back as a "shadow cut" when the card is closed... There's a bit more double-die-cutting around the pretty sentiment with the frame die. The frame die is cut in both green and white, then alternated, with the white "negative space" portion used for the sentiment, and the white frame portion used beneath the green, offset just a bit to add a white shadow... The sentiment frame is bordered beneath with bows, flowers, and pearls... And don't forget about these, coming soon, if you're a needlecrafter!... Thank you for stopping by for a visit...and have fun hopping!

Good morning, all! As I slowly but surely work my way back to a "regular" posting schedule, today I have another Lili of the Valley card that shows off one of the sentiments from Set 62 Quotables/Friendship. While so many of my friends and family are dealing with the effects of an extremely cold and snowy winter, we're having unseasonably warm and dry weather around here...we're about to set a record for the number of days without winter rain. So I let the weather put me in a springtime mood when I was choosing colors and embellishments for this card. I've combined papers from LOTV's Always and Forever paper pad (pinks) and Antebellum paper pad (green with pink floral). And if you look closely when you enlarge the photo, you'll see that I did, indeed, stamp the sentiment twice...once with black ink, and a second time with pink. I always hold my breath a little when I decide to try this. Even though clear stamps make this so much easier than rubber, when your eyes aren't perfect (as mine aren't), and your hand is just a tad too unsteady (yep...apparently I had a little too much coffee the other day), double stamping to get the effect you really want can be a roll of the dice. Lucky for me, this time the roll went my way! :) Pink, pink, and more pink roses are accented with just a few white sweetheart blossoms in the floral cluster that wraps around the upper corner of the card... Once again, the largest rose in the center of the cluster is made with Spellbinders Rose Creations dies. I did have to add pale pink craft paint to the rose after it was made so it would blend more closely with the colors of the card...it's so nice to have that flexibility! Rather than run one long piece of lace across the front, I ran one across the pink layer, and a second across the sentiment block layer above it and placed the pieces to they matched horizontally... Supplies: Patterned papers: Lili of the Valley Always and Forever collection, Antebellum collection Sentiment stamp: Lili of the Valley Set 62 Quotables-Friendship Dies: Spellbinders Timeless Rectangles, and Rose Creations; My Favorite Things Royal Leaves; Sizzix Flowers Branches & Leaves Lace: TheFunkieJunkie.com Small Flowers: Wild Orchid Crafts Pearls: Recollections Miscellaneous: hemp cording Thanks so much for stopping by for a visit today!
Happy 2014, everyone, and thanks for stopping by! There's a whole new set of 10 adorable Lili of the Valley stamps in the first launch of 2...
Morning everyone, I'm here today with a sneak peek from the next release from Lili Of The Valley I have used the super cute Annabel Roller Skating, it was a hard choice to what to make into a card first, I love every image in this collection. I have coloured her in with my distress markers, I have used both shabby white and aged wine frantage around her. The papers are from Maja Designs 6x6 paper pad Vintage Spring Basics, loving my purple fix with this one. The lace is from Live and Love Crafts, I was going to add some flowers, but when I looked at the card, I thought leaving them off worked with Annabel not being the most girlie looking of girls, even if she has got a lilac top on under her dungaree's. Hugs, Becky xx
♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥ Hello friends, how are you all? Sun is shining here today and it should be up to 20 degrees, if I can believe in Siri! ... and I do this about 90%, mostly she tells me the correct weather ;) Today I would like to present you Milly Me and My Dog, a sweet image by Lili of the Valley I´ve colored it in for the Stempeleinmaleins because our break is over and we start again today with three new design team members on board, these are the lovely ladies Nadine, Schnipselchen (Andrea & Clarissa) and Nela. We are starting with a great sketch by our dear Yvonne, with the option *Autumn*. Here are some details about my card ... Of course, I colored again with my prismacolor pencils and because I get asked so often how long I color on a image, here is the answer for all who are interested. I always need a very long time to finish a image, because I only can stop if I`m to 99% ... well, let´s say 100 % satisfied and THAT can take quite some time ;) I would say it takes 4-5 hours at all, but usually it takes longer, especially when there are filigree images. To finish a complete card takes muuuuch longer, because it´s very important for me that everything is perfectly in accordance with the details, until I´m satisfied. I think my family goes crazy .. lol ... But now back to my card ... How could it be otherwise, I used some great papers from Maja Design and the first time my new Leafes Die from Tim Holtz, which I was able to get on the stamp fair Stempelmekka. In addition, I´ve also chosen a small Tag, I somehow can´t get rid of it *gg*. Over at the Stempelsonnen Challenge there is the theme *Autumn* and at the Totally Papercrafts Friday Challenge we should show our cards with *stitching* on it.. Hope you all have a lovely weekend ... ♥ Hugs ♥ Nixe-Moni ♥♥♥♥♥ Stamps: Milly Me and My Dog / Lili of the Valley Papers: Maja Design Tools: Tag Die, Doo Hicke Cloud/Magnolia, On the Edge & Leafes/Sizzix, Spellbinders, Sewing Machine Prismacolor Pencils I used: Cream, Sienna Brown, Dark Brown, Light Peach, Peach, Henna, Beige, Goldenrod, Mineral Orange, Orange, Light Umber, Kelly Green, Marine Green, Cool Grey 50%, Warm Grey 10%, French Grey 10%, Putty Beige, French Grey 50%, Slate Grey, Black
Good morning fellow crafters. WARNING - a photo heavy post! Today is a sad day because it's the final post from the ladies at LOTV ( Lili of the Valley) Their final challenge was last month and I was honoured to be chosen in their top 5. That made it 3 in 3 months!! Whoop whoop. I shall miss the inspiration and the chance to take part in their monthly challenges. I hope they will be back with a bang in the new year with their new web page. As a tribute I thought I would share some of my favourite cards using their gorgeous stamps. This was one of my first cards that I blogged about using LOTV 'Wedding Couple' Sorry about the quality of the photo but this card has long since been sent, so no opportunity for another! Here are a few more wedding cards and finally one using just a sentiment verse. Their range covers all genres and are fabulous to colour. These are a few of my LOTV Christmas cards. There are also ones for us girls, and we mustn't forget the men in our life! Well that was my tribute to the last day of the LOTV blog, :( They aren't closing down the business, just refocusing, so I will wait to see what the new year brings! Thanks for scrolling down to the end and apologies for some of the photography, I think I have got a little better! If you want to find more examples just scroll down to the bottom and click on the labels or search the blog for LOTV.
Can you believe Christmas is less than a month away?! I can’t believe how quickly the year is speeding by. Since my kiddos started school, it seems like I blink and another month is gone! I’m hoping to get a few more Christmas cards made before I need to get them mailed out. Today, I thought I would share a card that I made with one of the Lili of the Valley Christmas images called Moonlight Wishes. This was one of my favorite images from the Christmas releases this past summer. There is just something so sweet about this image! I stamped the image on copic x-press it cardstock with tuxedo black memento ink. Then, I colored it with these copic markers: YG93, YG95, YG97, R24, R27, R46, R89, W1, W3, Y15, Y17, E35, YG17, YG67, E000, E00, E11, E13, R00, R02, colorless blender. I created a mask with eclipse masking tape. Then, I used a BG72 copic marker and my air compressor to spray the sky. I added some glitter to the moon and stars and some white fun flock the the ball on her cap. I used some patterned papers from October Afternoon’s new Holiday Style paper pad. I added some crocheted lace from May Arts and some baker’s twine from my etsy shop. The sentiment is from Lili of the Valley’s Grunge Christmas Postmarks stamp set. Have a great day! Niki
Over at the Christmas Card Club Sylvie challenged us to .....USE A XMAS TREE ! So .... I thought I'd use up another of my LOTV images.I bought so many of them !!Oh and yes ladies its those snowflakes
Happy 10th Birthday, Lili of the Valley! Today's the day of the big celebration at the Leeds shop, with new products being available for purchase, demos by design team members from around the globe, and an online party for those unable to attend in person. It's a fun day! I hope you'll have some time to participate in some of the fun. If you'd like to join in on the online festivities, head on over to LOTV's Facebook page, click on the "Events" button, then "Join" at the virtual party tab. The card I'm sharing today is a card of encouragement and congratulations, with a sentiment that's perfect for not only the celebration going on at LOTV, but also appropriate for a high school/college/university graduation card. I've featured patterned papers from LOTV's Antebellum (pink sentiment block), Country Lady (white floral), and Beach Bliss (green background) paper pads for the backgrounds... with a large floral cluster of pink and white roses, sweetheart blossoms, pearls, and lace, all atop a swirly, leafy flourish... and a large sentiment from Set 63, Quotables/Go For It at the center of it all... Happy Monday, all! Today's card started out to be a masculine card, with the papers in tones of dusty aqua, dark tan, and black. But once I laid out the pieces and took a step back to see where I wanted the design to go, it didn't just look masculine, it looked too dark. So I tried playing with a piece of red washi tape and that's when the card took a turn. Bright red and gold flowers and red gems were added, and now the card was bright and cheerful, but no longer a masculine one! With the sentiments from LOTV's Set 10, A5 Verses and Set 25, Handwritten Phrases, this card could be used for so many different occasions, or for no special reason at all. :) The muted shades of papers come from three different LOTV paper pads - Baskets and Bunnies, with snippets of pieces from Pressed in Time, and Father Knows Best - and blend together perfectly for a soft and muted background to the bright floral accents... I used a bit of foam tape on the vertical paper pieces to add a bit of dimension. The wooden clock face on top of bright white cheesecloth centers the floral clusters, and a few drops of Glossy Accents in strategic places keeps the silver chain wrapped around the clock face and draped at the bottom of the card... I found the small silver bar in my stash, so I used it as a rod to drape the top edge of the sentiment piece over. Once again, Glossy Accents beneath the square cubes at either end keep the rod in place, and foam tape beneath the sentiment piece keeps it level... Supplies: Patterned papers: LOTV Baskets and Bunnies (stripe), Pressed in Time (green & tan), and Father Knows Best (black stripe) Stamps: LOTV Set 10 / A5 Verses and Set 25 / Handwritten Phrases Punch: Martha Stewart Cornice Edge Dies: Sizzix Flowers Branches & Leaves Clock face & red gems: Recollections Silver bar: 7Gypsies Flowers: Wild Orchid Crafts Miscellaneous: washi tape, silver chain, twine, pewter gem, cheesecloth Thank you for visiting today...I hope your week starts with a smile!
paper crafting with stamps and die cuts
Good morning folks, hope you are all ok. I haven't had much time this week for blogging or creating, spent most of the week after work shopping. We have our Grandsons Christening & two weddings coming up so me and Hubby have been busy getting our outfits. I did get fully togged out early in the week with dress, shoes, bag, cardy, the lot, then when I tried it all on I wasn't keen. So off we went again, took it all back and started again. I'm all sorted now, just got to get Wayne a shirt and tie to go with his new suit. I must say, it has put me off shopping for a while. I have a card to show you that I made using a very cute LOTV stamp. I used : Bunnies in love from LOTV Spectrum Noir Pencils LOTV paper pad ( sadly no longer available ) Spellbinders & Memory Box dies Pearls from stash ( just noticed the wonky one lol!) Thank you so much for visiting my blog, hope you all have a lovely day.
Happy Fourth of July! image courtesy us-days.com Today's card is a summery-soft and shabby card with an inspirational sentiment as its focus (and I thought it was a fun fit for the history of today). I used a dark orchid background paper from LOTV's Promises Solids paper pad, topped it with three softer-toned papers from the Timeless Victorian pad, and added a sentiment from Set 63, Quotables/Go For It as the focal point... Here are a few close-ups, starting with the cheesecloth peeking out of the lower corner... The rose at the center of the floral cluster was made using Spellbinders' Rose Creations dies and white cardstock, sprayed with a mist made of Weathered Wood Distress Ink refill and distilled water... The jeweled butterfly used to be a brad, until it met with my wire cutters... :) Supplies: Patterned papers: LOTV Promises Solids (background purple); Timeless Victorian (all others) Stamps: LOTV Set 63, Quotables/Go For It Dies: Spellbinders Labels Two, and Rose Creations; Poppy Stamps Massa Leaf Background Punch: Martha Stewart Medium Branch Flowers: Wild Orchid Crafts Pearls: Recollections Jeweled butterfly: Creative Imaginations Clay corner: Martha Stewart mold and air-dry clay Miscellaneous: cheesecloth, white twine Thanks for stopping by for a visit...have a wonderful weekend!
Happy Monday, all! This week will be watercolor and mixed media week here on the blog, so be prepared for a few more cards that stray from my usual style a bit. Of course, when we come to the mixed media portion of the show, my usual "everything but the kitchen sink" style of embellishments will be clearly visible to you. :) Today's card is a masculine card, combining a couple Lili of the Valley stamps and watercoloring with Distress Inks. Because the piece turned out so detailed, I went with a CAS (clean and simple) style for the card. I used LOTV's Set 53, Vintage Backgrounds (I used the same stamp as shown in Elise's sample on the product page), only I did some "selective inking" to mask off the dragonfly and the cherub. Then I stamped a couple of the clocks from Set 66, Grunge Elements, and added the key and French text from that same set to fill in some of the blank space between the clocks. I used liquid frisket to mask off the clocks and the scrollwork at the top of the piece, and after wetting the whole piece of watercolor paper, started laying in colors using Distress Inks. I let the colors drift where they would, and when it was done, I looked at it across the table and realized it came out looking a bit like a vintage map, with the blue waters and brown and green land masses. You never know what you'll get when you just let things happen on their own! After the watercolor paper (I used 140 lb cold pressed) had dried, I sprinkled it with Vintage White Frantage embossing powder... I pulled out a metal cog, and before tying it with the twine, coated it with more of the Frantage embossing powders (I mixed Vintage White and Vintage Gold on it), added a tag printed on my computer, and it was done!... Supplies: Stamps: LOTV Set 53/Vintage Backgrounds, and Set 66/Grunge Elements Die: Impression Obsession Mini Rectangle Tags 2 Metal cog: Hobby Lobby/The Paper Studio Stampendous Frantage Embossing Powders Ranger Distress Inks (Peacock Feathers, Crushed Olive, Rusty Hinge, Vintage Photo) Miscellaneous: twines Thanks for stopping by for a visit...I hope your week starts with a smile!
Eeek I nearly forgot to do this post, here’s some of my favourite cards from 2012, I’ll start off with the first half of the year January February March April (I have 2) May (2 again sorry) June (I really couldn'tt choose this month’s favourite, so 3 it is )
Gee, first I "disappear" for weeks, and now you see me twice in two days! :) Thanks for stopping by today, and for my U.S. friends, Happy Thanksgiving! It's late in the evening now in the U.S. (except for my friends in Alaska and Hawaii), and you're either relaxed on the sofa, playing family games, or, if you're really brave, out shopping in the stores that opened this evening for a head-start on Black Friday deals. Me? I'm relaxed at home, on the web with all of you, because it's another fun Lili of the Valley blog hop day! We're celebrating the launch of 10 adorable new Baby Stamps, that will be available to purchase at the LOTV Christmas event at the Leeds shop on Saturday, November 30, and available on the LOTV website at midday Monday, December 2 (GBT). To participate and be eligible for the prizes (isn't it fun that the LOTV hops have prizes?!), just "hop" from one blog to the next, and be sure to leave a comment on each blog. Why a comment on each blog? Because the prizes are "hidden"...even we don't know whose blog(s) is/are the "magic" prize blog(s). You see, this time, 2 full sets of the new Baby stamps will be given away...2 lucky commenters will each get all 10 new designs! Annnnnnd....there will be a third winner of a clear set of the new Baby companion stamps! The lucky winners will be randomly drawn from all the commenters on the lucky blog(s), and announced on Saturday morning...so hop and comment away! Here's a list of all the blogs taking part in today's hop. For the best chance of winning a prize, remember to leave a comment at each stop along the way... Ideas to Inspire Anne Becky Dawny Debbie Dena Elise Fleur Gretha Jen Kathy (you're here!) Kim Lou Mary J Moni Enough chatter...bring on the pics, right? OK...here they are! As you may know, my main focus with LOTV is to highlight the use of the wonderful sentiment stamps and papers...but this time I couldn't resist using the baby shoes companion set to include a set of tiny tennies on this little-boy-colored card. And these papers from the Winter Wishes paper pad are the perfect complement to this theme! The chipboard heart is painted, inked, and coated with coarse clear glitter, and surrounded with blue and tan flowers and a flourish die cut... After fussy-cutting the stamped and colored tennies, I punched a tiny hole in each heel to "string them up" so they'd dangle from the floral cluster. They fall right over the center of the twine bow... Here's a detail shot of a corner of the sentiment block - the sentiment stamp is in LOTV's Set 61, Quotables/Celebrate set. It's stamped onto cold press watercolor paper, die cut, the edges watercolored with Faded Jeans Distress Ink refill ink, and has just a sprinkling of Vintage Blue Frantage embossing powder around the edges... Good luck on the hop, have a wonderful weekend...and a big thanks for stopping by!

Hello!! :) Well, as my post title suggests, I’ve been thinking about Christmas cards this week...unfortunately, though, this is the only one I’ve finished so far so much more speedy metaphorical skating will be needed in the next month or so- anybody know how exactly it came to be November already, by the way ‘cause I think I must’ve missed at least six months of this year somehow!?! :S It's completely dark here already and decidedly chilly again- but sitting here with the lights on, anticipating a lovely warm cuppa in a minute and with the delicious smell of our Christmas cake baking in the oven waffting up the stairs is making me feel really quite cosy and cheerful- if rather hungry!!lol - despite the too quick marching of time!! :) Anyway, I’ve chalked one more card off the list, at least, and it’s another gorgeous Lili of the Valley image taking centre stage: I followed the fab sketch by Bev over at the LOTV challenge this week and I also used another colour of the Snowflake Digi Paper I made in my graphics program a while back along with a Digi Ticket sentiment that I made in the same program last week to fit with Crafty Cardmakers’ Digital Plus challenge :) I’ve used Skating Along, which I stamped in Memento London Fog and coloured with Promarkers...but it was such a long time ago that I’m afraid I have no clue which colours I used except the Cool Greys and Duck Egg as I’d just got that one and was playing around to see what I could do with it!! I do seem to remember that it took me a long time of going back over with different colours to be even close to happy with the blue/green tones but you live and learn!! ;) Then I added some Crystal Stickles to the fur on her hat and coat and some Sakura Clear Stardust and Clear Glaze :) The matting layer beneath the image is paper coloured with Duck Egg PM and that and the image piece are punched with a decorative corner punch and very lightly edged with Broken China DI for a little more definition :) I punched the snowflake strip with my MS Deep Edge Trim Snowflake punch from white card I’d coloured with Duck Egg PM and then edged that and my snowflake paper with a little more Broken China (I used my TH Paper Distresser very lightly on the paper edge, too). I made the paper by simply arranging some snowflakes from a free dingbats font I downloaded (called Faux Snow) on a page and then changing the colours to tones of blue that would go with my PMs. I made the papers a while ago in several colourways and patterns to go with the different colour groups of PMs I’m enjoying working with at the mo’ as I was struggling to find papers I liked online :) (Apologies if I'm boring anybody who’s already read about the papers in the post for the card I previously used them for but, as it’s part of one of the challenges, I thought I should explain again!! :) ) I made the sentiment ticket last week after finally discovering- totally by accident!! :D - how to get the inverted corners on a rectangle :) The snowflakes are from the same font as in the papers and I printed out quite a few tickets coloured to match the various papers I’ve made :) The edge is lightly distressed again with the TH tool and DI :) The ribbon is white organza coloured with Duck Egg PM :D The snowflakes are cut from white card with the Marianne D Swedish Ice Star die and coloured with -guess what!?!- yup, Duck Egg PM!! :D If I’d thought ahead, I would’ve just written at the beginning that I’d coloured all my embellishments myself with the same pen as the image...ah, well!! ;D The smaller snowflake has some Broken China, too, and then both have a coating of Stickles- Crystal on the small ones and Frosted Lace on the larger ones- I’ve not tried this Stickles before and, to be honest, it was slightly underwhelming in the pot (enforced mail-order shopping has many of those kind of disappointing moments) but I actually love it now I’ve tried it (enforced mail-order shopping has a few of those happily surprising moments!! :) ) and think it’s perfect for snowflakes :) :) I put the smaller one on top of the larger while the Stickles was still wet and then left them to dry overnight but when I came back to it earlier to attach them to the card, I think I maybe should have left them separate and used foam pads to attach them together for a bit more depth?! I’d like to enter this card in the following challenges: LOTV – Sketch by Bev which I loved using :) ; Crafty Cardmakers – Digital Plus :) ; Lexi’s Creations – Anything Goes :) ; The ABC Challenge - G is for Glitter :) ; Die Cut Dreams – Use a Christmas Digi (if the digi papers and sentiment count even though I stamped the image?!) :) ; Bah! Humbug! - Presents (she’s obviously been shopping for them!!) :) ; ABC Christmas Challenge – W is for Winter Wonderland with the optional extra of white ( I know it’s not quite how it’s meant but, as well as my finished card having quite a lot of white, I’ve just realised that literally everything I used started off white- paper, cardstock, even ribbon- ‘til I went mad with the Duck Egg and DI!!! ;)) ) :) Right, I shall pop off and link those up then have a browse around some of your fab blogs to see what I fancy trying next!! :) I really do need to get cracking in earnest on those Christmas cards- and gifts ‘cos I’m meant to be making most of those this year, too...nothing like making life easy for yourself, eh!?! ;) I did go a bit mad last week actually and ordered quite a few new stamps- some more LOTVs and my first ever Sugar Nellies as I found a fab stamp which will be perfect for my lil sis’ 16th birthday card at the end of the month...but of course I couldn’t just buy one stamp now could I!?!lol- so whatever I do will probably include some of those!! Can’t wait to get playing!! :) Hope you’re all well at the mo’ and having a good week so far!! :) Edited to add: The cake's done!!! :D :D Thought I'd just add in a pic as it's now out of the oven- still warm and smelling even more tempting...the yoghurt and fruit I just ate (as I'm trying to be good at the mo' :[ ) really hasn't helped with the craving for cake!! We always put almonds on the top as my mum doesn't like icing- or having to ice the cake!!- so this is the decoration...I actually can't stand almonds but I've learnt there's no point in mentioning that so I just enjoy the delicious cake and leave them on the plate for her!! :D hugs,
