Myrtle's Dream is located in Seagrove, Florida. The beach cottage belongs to a friend of mine and has a very interesting story. Pam's love of all things vintage and her decorating skills took a repossessed Katrina cottage and moved it to the beach making it into a delightful cottage. Enjoy your stroll through her charming get away. The vintage shutter in this picture holds menus from local restaurants and brochures from attractions to see around the surrounding beach areas. Isn't it delightful? If you are interested in renting you may contact Vacation Rental by Owner ( VRB410200- Myrtle's Dream). Pam's cottage was featured in the Winter issue of Flea Market Style magazine. She has made changes since I photographed her house. Lagerstroemia Pure White is a deciduous white flowering crape myrtle with fluffy white blooms and striking black foliage. It’s a beautiful and unusual ornamental shrub or tree for hot, sheltered gardens.Crape Myrtle is native to South East Asia, the Indian Subcontinent, and northern Australia. Its name is pronounced lay-ger-stro-mia and it was named after plant hunter Magnus von Lagerstrom who collected new and exotic plants for the botanist Carl Linnaeus during the 1700s. This cultivar’s full botanical name is Lagerstroemia BLACK DIAMOND Pure White and it’s one of a new range of crape myrtles bred in Texas, USA for their striking black foliage that emerges in spring and turns purple in autumn. Its lacy-edged pure white flowers bloom in masses from July to September contrasting wonderfully with its black foliage to create a real talking point.Crape Myrtle Pure White is an ideal specimen tree for modern sunny courtyards and country cottage-style sheltered borders.Botanical Name - Synonymous with Lagerstroemia BLACK SOLITARE Pure White. Height and Spread of Lagerstroemia Pure WhiteIt’ll reach a height of two metres and spread over 1.5 metres. How Hardy Is Lagerstroemia Pure WhiteCrape Myrtle is frost tender and while it can cope with mild frosts in a sunny, sheltered position with well-drained roots. it’s best suited to mild, coastal areas. How To Use Lagerstroemia Pure WhiteCrape Myrtle Pure White is a striking black-and-white decorative small tree for sunny wall-side borders and heat-filled urban courtyards. Because it loves heat it suits a tropical-style Mediterranean space. Crape myrtle will grow in a large well-watered plant container on a hot sheltered balcony or patio too.Although its lacy crepe-paper style flowers suit cottage gardens and coastal areas, Lagerstroemia Pure White’s chess board style foliage and flowers are modern enough for townhouses, especially when it’s paired with others in the Black Solitaire range such as Crape Myrtle Crimson Red.How To Care For Lagerstroemia Pure WhiteCrape Myrtle Pure White needs a sunny spot. Crape Myrtles need all the sun you can give them due to their tropical native environment. Alongside full sun they need shelter from cold drying winds and you must avoid frost pockets. If you can give crape myrtle these conditions it will thrive. It will grow in the majority of well-drained soils including chalk and sand and pruning isn’t required. It used to be thought that crape myrtle only flowered on new growth, but this isn’t the case and such excessive pruning can shock the plant.Trim back its tips if necessary and boost it with a thick layer of organic mulch in spring for a healthy flower display.
