We attended one of their popular Ploughman's & Cider Tasting evenings alongside over 20 other participants. Greeted by Karen, their Cidery Manager, we joined a table of 6 and started our evening’s tasting with their number 3, served flat, the traditional way. Now, as someone who hales from the West country, I am a cider p
The gorgeous sandstone of St. Lawrence's soaking up the February evening sun, in Napton-on-the-Hill, Warwickshire. The village is three and a half miles east of Southam just off the main Leamington to Daventry road. It is unusual in that there are few hill settlements in Warwickshire. The village circles Hackwell Hill, but only the church and a windmill are built on the top. See where this picture was taken. [?]

Napton Junction Horse Brass. Napton Junction is a major waterways place at the junction of the Oxford Canal (Southern Section - Main Line) with the Grand Union Canal (Warwick and Napton Canal) and the Grand Union Canal (Oxford Canal Section). The origin of the Horse Brass goes back many centuries, when man first used the horse extensively on the land. The superstitions prevalent at this time required a symbol to protect the horse from accident or injury and Horse Brasses were believed to have the supernatural powers to ward off evil spirits and prevent catastrophe. A horse brass is a brass plaque which was used for the decoration of horse harness gear, especially for shire and parade horses. Horse Brasses became very popular in England between the mid-19th century until their decline alongside the use of the draft horse, but they have now become a collectors item and they make lovely wall hanging and often can be found decorating pub and Inn walls.
