As a teacher, I’m always looking for inspiration, particularly when it comes to the memoir classes I teach (both online with Teachable and in person with the Carrboro Arts Center near where I live). Using Theme to Focus a Memoir like Stanley Tucci’s Taste, is my latest inspiration. How it Started A few months ago, […]
This pyrography was done for Halloween. A creepy ghost, coming out of a misty forest. I used a wooden bench and a cross near the place where I live and added a ghost of a young peasant woman from imagination and also added thick fog to create a mysterious atmosphere. I used only Razertip pyrography device with no aditional help of a pencil. Plywood is about one centimeter thick. The pyrography is also equipped with a hook, so it is easy to hang it on a wall. This item is not sealed, because most of the sealings make wood darker and some details might get lost. However Light and heat can cause changes in wood which might lead to a loss of details as well. That's why it is strongly recommended to keep the pyrography away from direct sunlight and heating sourses of any kind. Also please note, that shipping to USA might take more time than expected, but it is guaranteed that the item won't get lost. Please send me your feedback as soon as you get your item. I would be very happy to see that everything went well and that my work became a nice home decoration! Title: Secrets of Spring Series: Seasons of Jefferson Trilogy #3 Authors: Julie Solano & Tracy Justice JT Authors Genre: Young Adult Release Date: March 26, 2018 Blurb Secrets! They’re all I’ve ever known. Since the night I witnessed the unthinkable, I’ve been forced to live with a hidden identity. For our safety, we were tucked away in a rural mountain community in Northern California. For me, the tradeoff was bitter. Friendships were torn apart. One young playmate would never be seen again and the other would become a forbidden acquaintance. As the years passed, our new lives were rebuilt from the ashes of destruction we’d left behind. For most of my adolescence, my only safe outlets were school and sports. I became a scholar student and an all-around athlete who surrounded myself only with a tiny circle of my most trusted friends. Friends that would make living in Jefferson County adventurous, exciting, and unforgettable. As time passed, my attention shifted beyond my small circle. My guard dropped, and the All-American star baseball player, Ty Connelly, became my new focus. He caught my eye and made me forget who I used to be. I became careless, defying the rules set in place for my family’s safety. To me, he was worth the risk. He was the one person who had the power to turn my nightmares into dreams. Dreams of a future where living was possible again and secrets could be forgotten. Or could they? Find out in the exciting conclusion of the Seasons of Jefferson trilogy, Secrets of Spring. She graduated from CSU, Chico, where she majored in Psychology and minored in Child Development. She later went on to Simpson University where she obtained her multiple subject teaching credential. Julie enjoys life in the “State of Jefferson,” where she lives with her husband and two children. As a family, they spend their time tromping around the Marble Mountains and Russian Wilderness. They also take pleasure in rafting, skiing, snowmobiling, off-roading, campfires, and living it up in the great outdoors. When she’s not with her family, Julie spends her days teaching next door to her co-author, fellow prankster, and partner in crime, Tracy. The most recent of their crazy adventures was to take on the challenge of writing this series of novels about what life is like in their neck of the woods. ***** Born and raised in Northern California, Tracy Justice is a wife, mother, and full-time teacher. She graduated from CSU, Chico, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Liberal Arts. One of her fondest memories growing up was herding cattle in the Marble Mountains with her family. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, riding horses, running, hiking, swimming, and of course reading. After some encouragement from Julie, she decided to add “Co-author” to her ever-growing bucket list. She never knew how much fun it would be to write a book with her best friend. She hopes you enjoy reading their third book in the “Seasons of Jefferson Series” as much as she enjoyed writing it with Julie. Author Links FACEBOOK PROFILE FACEBOOK PAGE TWITTER INSTAGRAM
I’ve been intrigued with alternative building methods ever since seeing the first container home featured in Dwell magazine. Combine that with seven years of living near the Port of Los Angeles, where I used to drive over the bridge and watch containers stack up like blocks in the harbor, and you
Bessie Smith, Empress of the Blues, was the most popular female blues singers of the 1920's and 1930's. She was one of the highest paid entertainers of the day and her singing style influenced many jazz singers who came after her. She was born in 1894 in what was at the time the poorest part of Chattanooga, very near to where I live today. I made this photograph of Bessie looking out onto Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, which used to be 9th Street in Chattanooga. During her lifetime, it was known as "Big Nine" and was the center of African American life, business, and culture. This photograph is handmade by me and is available in three variations: 7"x10" mounted in an 11"x14" white matte 5"x7" mounted in an 8"x10" matted 4"x6" postcard unmounted Hello! My name is Kevin Lane, and I live in Chattanooga, Tennessee. My store is called Chattalog Photography. In this age of digital everything, I get much joy and satisfaction from shooting vintage film cameras, developing the film myself, and making silver gelatin prints in a darkroom. I love photographing my hometown of Chattanooga, and many of my photographs were taken here or nearby. However, I always have a camera with me when I travel, and the photographs I take become souvenirs of my travels. When you purchase one of my photographs, you will receive something that I myself made with my own hands. I hope that you receive as much joy from viewing and displaying it as I did making it. Thank you very much!

Scratchboard illustration of bulldozers on Hastings beach (southeast coast of the UK) near where I live. The local fishermen use them to drag their boats up the shore as most of their winches no longer work.
