Just as important as that object itself, negative space helps to define the boundaries of positive space and brings balance to a composition.” Negative space can be characterized as the ‘empty’ space in a design that creates a unique, distinguishable shape. Successful designs of this nature strike a balance between negative space and intrigue; they make the viewer feel like they need to take a second look 👀. Many of these images encourage viewers to search for hidden images within the negative space of the design. Big brands utilize negative space in their logos – the FedEx logo is perhaps one of the most famous examples, with its unforgettable white arrow → between the E and the X. The NBC logo is another great example – its negative space forms the body and head of a peacock. A lone wolf 🐺 makes up the negative space in our image...what will your negative space resemble?
