Her work is in numerous private and corporate collections in the US and abroad. She has received grants from the Joan Mitchell Foundation, the Pollack Krasner Foundation, the Louisiana Division of the Arts, and the Gottlieb Foundation. In 2008, Deckbar published a book of her work with a grant from Louisiana Cultural Economy Foundation, entitled, Continuum: Moving Through A Still Frame. Deckbar is currently working on a new series of paintings titled Movie Stills. These new paintings depict women who are aware that they are objectified, yet mysterious, weary and yet defiant. Her incredible mastery of photo realism, combined with an awareness of the times we live in, and all the emotional weight that carries, finds her in a unique place in the art world.

Museums and art galleries can become an overwhelming experience for the casual visitor. Luckily, some people untangle centuries-old ideas and dumb-down them into language us mortals can understand, too. We, as people, sometimes are too difficult to understand. Our thoughts, our feelings, and our sense of humor are better received with some visual aid. That is how memes were born, and some of the funniest ones are created by using classical art as a reference to modern-day issues.
Cottagecore Aesthetic Painting -"Pomegranate" fruits and trees were popular symbols in ancient Asian and Mediterranean art. It is customary to have it on New Year's Eve or Thanksgiving tables, with the belief that it will bring abundance to the home. As a symbol in ancient art it is generally used to denote fertility and abundance, a meaning which holds true in traditions throughout the Orient. The connection that the pomegranate bears to fertility and abundance is derived from the fact that it has many sweet and beautiful seeds that are contained within the fruit itself. Aside from being a source of healthy sweet juice, the pomegranate was useful by textile & felt artists for color purposes. The dye makers would produce a red color dye from the pomegranate’s flowers and the tannin within its rind was used for tanning leather hides. Tannin is also a useful compound that is frequently used in natural medicine with a variety of applications. Needle felted merino wool, with nuno-felted silk inclusions, hand-dyed silk tops, sari silk waste, mohair tops, viscose tops, Harris tweed threads, curly locks, spun silk threads, and hand-dyed silk carrier rods. For all of these reasons, the pomegranate design and fruit itself is always highly prized. Predominantly for its aesthetic look, medicinal properties and practical uses (Schneider). When used as a symbol in art from these regions it can thus be interpreted as representing fertility, healthy and plentiful bounty. Café Society was a New York City nightclub open from 1938 to 1948 at Sheridan Square in Greenwich Village, and managed by Barney Josephson. Josephson created the club to showcase African American talent and to be an American version of the political cabarets he had seen in Europe earlier. As well as running the first racially integrated night club in the United States, Josephson also intended the club to defy the pretensions of the rich; he chose the name to mock Clare Boothe Luce and what she referred to as "café society", the habitués of more upscale nightclubs, and that wry satirical note was carried through in murals. Josephson not only trademarked the name, which had not been trademarked by the gossip columnist for the New York Journal American M, who wrote as the first "Cholly Knickerbocker", but advertised the club as "The Wrong Place for the Right People". Josephson opened a second branch on 58th Street, between Lexington and Park Avenue, in 1940. After that, the original club was known as Café Society Downtown and the new club—designed for a different audience—as Café Society Uptown. Legendary music producer John Hammond was the club's "unofficial music director". Courtesy Private Collection. These places possess such incredible and unusual colors it’s hard to believe they exist.
Remember the stereotype that all grandmas are tiny and sweet, spending days baking cakes, playing Bingo and knitting? Well we're here to prove that stereotype wrong.
There's something about classical art that just turns me off. Endless portraits of pale and plump aristocrats looking all fancy in the classical paintings, bucolic rural scenes, religious iconography... I can certainly appreciate the skill and relevance back in the pre-photography age, but these days we need a message!
There’s something so eerie and breathtaking about the places that haven’t seen a human for longer than they can remember. Sadly, in our increasingly urbanized world, there are not many corners left like this.
More than 4 billion people live in urban areas globally. It’s now projected that by 2050, more than two-thirds of the world population will live in urban areas. So no wonder we pay more importance to the buildings and structures around us.

The original works are usually too long, or too short, to neatly fill a store-bought frame. Most shops arbitrarily crop the artwork to match, leading to claustrophobic prints with missing or partial elements. These modifications — sometimes trivial, sometimes ludicrous — are not always shown in the product photos. We believe that the purpose of art is not to fill a frame; it is the purpose of a frame to showcase the art. Our prints have inset borders that make up any differences in proportion between the artwork and a standard frame, so that you can experience the art as the artist intended. They look sharp in beveled mats, may be float mounted, or inserted directly into standard frames; the borders providing a mat-like accent around the image. There are many styles from which to choose. Framing is a fun, creative process that enhances the artwork and livens your space for years to come. Should you like any advice, feel free to reach out. CUSTOMIZATION AND IMAGE REQUESTS ----------------------------- We are happy to customize our prints to fit your frame. Borderless prints may require the artwork to be cropped to fit a new aspect ratio. In such cases, we will provide a mockup to ensure that the final product meets with your approval. How do you feel about classical art? Whether you take an annual trip to the Louvre or your idea of classical art is the paintings on the walls at your grandmother’s house, there’s no question that artists from hundreds of years ago were impressive. It is amazing how so many of their pieces stand the test of time and are still admired in museums around the globe by millions of visitors per year.
