Welcome to the Bookstagram+Review Tour for Shadowed Loyalty by Roseanna M. White, hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours! ABOUT THE BOOK Title: Shadowed Loyalty Author: Roseanna M. White Publisher: Chrism Press Release Date: May 2, 2022 Genre: Historical Christian Romance Sabina Mancari never questioned her life as the daughter of Chicago's leading mob boss until bullets tear apart her world and the man she thought she loved turns out to be an undercover Prohibition agent. Ambushes, bribes, murder, prostitution—all her life, her father sheltered her from his crimes, but now she can no longer turn away from the truth. Maybe Lorenzo, the fiancé who barely paid her any attention in the last two years, has the right idea by planning to escape their world. But can she truly turn her back on her family? All his life, Lorenzo’s family assumed he would become a priest, but he has different ideas—marrying Sabina and pursuing a career in the law. Despite his morals, he knows at the core he isn’t so unlike his mafiosi father and brothers. Has he, in trying to protect Sabina, forced her into the arms of the Prohibition agent bent on tearing her family apart? How can they rebuild what has so long been neglected and do it in the shadow of the dark empire of the Mafia? Shadowed Loyalty, set amid the glitz and scandal of the Roaring Twenties, examines what love really means and how we draw lines between family and our own convictions, especially when following one could mean losing the other. PURCHASE LINKS: Goodreads | Amazon | Barnes & Noble | BookBub MY REVIEW The Roaring 20’s has always been a fascination of mine. There were so many things going on during that time, both good and bad, that has always captured my imagination like no other era, and the birth of the mafia is one of those aspects that leaves me spellbound. Shadowed Loyalty begins with a bang…literally. Within a few pages you are seeing action, and utter betrayal, as you witness Sabina Mancari’s life being turned upside down, and the drama continues to mount from there. This novel is shrouded in a dark, heavy cloak, the ambiance a feeling of foreboding that you can’t help but sense. Though there is a happy ending that doesn’t mean this novel didn’t have its twilight. There is deception and defrauding, abuse and affairs, though nothing goes into great detail. Everything is more alluded to, but there is still no question that these sins are occurring. Though bleak at times, there is also this thread of faith throughout that can’t be ignored, and was greatly appreciated, showing there is light in the darkness. “But even so, there was always that moment when you first saw a beam of light and realized you stood in shadow. And then, after you finally fought your way into that light, came the moment when you looked back and saw clearly for the first time how dark those shadows really were.” This was my favorite quote, though there are many quotable words in this mesmerizing novel. I could see this being a wonderful book club pick, not only because it’s such a great story, but there are discussion questions at the end that could be really helpful as well. If you want to get lost in one of the most unique era’s of the twentieth century, then you must read Shadowed Loyalty. The spot-on language of the flapper generation, along with the big issues of the time, as well as the effects on family and relationships, will have you inspired and in awe. Sinopse: MESMO O QUEBRADO, ATRAVÉS DO AMOR, PODE ENCONTRAR A GRAÇA ... Segredos nunca ficam escondidos. Eu julguei a Phebe. AK é o melhor homem do Hades.
Kidnappings. Cults. Cupcakes. One out of three ain’t bad. When I was a kid, I could play in the shadow world. The older I grew, the weirder and darker it became, so I hid my power away. Now I own a bakery where the strangest thing I see is a request for sexy cupcakes. It’s all good
Happy Monday Bookworms! How was your weekend? The crud is still lingering with all members of my household, so this weekend was lowkey and kind of perfect. We were able to get a little cleaning done, get the tree put up (though not decorated just yet), and ate so many Thanksgiving leftovers. It was pretty great. I hope you too had a great start to the holiday season yourself and I hope you enjoy my review to kick off the week! This novel is by one of my favorite authors and is yet another novel that I have fell in love with. Enjoy! Welcome to the Blog Tour for The Color of Sky and Stone by Sara Davison, hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours! About the Book Title: The Color of Sky and Stone Series: In the Shadows #1 Author: Sara Davison Publisher: Independently Published (through The Mosaic Collection) Release Date: November 22, 2023 Genre: Romantic Suspense (Christian) She is the only one who truly sees him. Which makes her his greatest threat. Black ops undercover agent Tane Temauri—code name Vapor—has made it his life’s mission to stay out of sight. Given the dangers inherent in his job, the last thing he can afford is to step into the open and become a target. Again. Then a letter from a mysterious stranger changes everything. Although the letter was not meant for him, somehow, on a greater, cosmic scale, it feels as though it is. But answering it will make Tane vulnerable. Can he emerge from the shadows and risk everything for a woman he has never met? If he does, more than his heart could be on the line. So could his life. And hers. PURCHASE LINKS: Goodreads | Amazon | BookBub My Review Sara Davison has been one of my favorite authors for awhile thanks to her amazing storytelling and characters that tug at your heartstrings. The Color of Sky and Stone is the first novel in her new In the Shadows series, and she knocked it out of the park with this one. It’s clear that she poured her heart and soul into this one. There can be such power in words, and this doesn’t ring truer than in the story of Tane and Lia, two lonely souls who find solace in one another through missives alone. At first, I felt like this story was going to be like all of the other romantic suspense novels I’ve read recently, but then there was a shift and I lost myself to the narrative. On the surface these two characters don’t seem like they would go together, yet they are more perfect for one another than meets the eye. Both have to hide behind a facade and not show who they truly are, both playing the parts that were given to them, and it takes these roles to meet someone who sees past the act and straight to the heart. There is some suspense and moments that are electrifying beyond words. The connection between Tane and Lia is so powerful and palpable that you can feel it reverberating off the pages. Beautiful imagery helps paint a vivid picture as we see two souls traverse their lonely existence apart yet together, and the touch of grace and forgiveness is whispered and woven throughout. Though there is a satisfying ending there are a few loose ends that need to be addressed, and I cannot wait to read the next book in the series to find out what happens. The Color of Sky and Stone is a very powerful story of two lonely hearts that find one another in the most unlikely way and discover what can happen when you truly let go and trust. My Rating: ★★★★★ About the Author Sara Davison has a passion for writing stories that keep readers on the edge of their seats—and maybe swooning a little. Beyond that, she longs for readers to discover, as her characters do, that whatever they are going through they are never alone. God is always with them. A finalist for more than a dozen national writing awards, Davison is a Cascade, Word, and two-time Carol Award winner for romantic suspense. Like every good Canadian, she loves coffee, hockey, poutine, and apologizing for no particular reason.
