Pond Inlet, or Mittimatalik as it is known by local residents, is a place of beauty and charm where the old traditions of Inuit Culture meet and blend with that of the latest technology. It was named in 1818 by explorer John Ross for John Pond an English astronomer. As a tourist destination, Pond Inlet is considered one of Canada's "jewels of the North".
