We all know the old Aesop fable about the hungry wolf who could not get enough to eat due to the watchfulness of the Shepherds. But when he finds a sheep skin that was abandoned, the Wolf uses the skin as a disguise to hide from the Shepherds amongst the sheep. Soon a little lamb becomes the Wolf's dinner. And before long, many were easily caught and devoured. But what the Wolf did not count on was that the Shepherd took a fancy for mutton broth that very evening, and, picking up a knife, went to the fold. There the first he laid hands on and killed was the Wolf. The Shepherd hung him up to a tree, still in the Wolf's assumed disguise. Some other Shepherds passing that way, thought it was a Sheep hanging, and cried to their friend, “what, brother! is that the way you serve Sheep in this part of the country?” “No, friends,” cried he, giving at the same time the carcass a swing round, so that they might see what it was; “but it is the way to serve Wolves, even though they be dressed in Sheep’s clothing.” And as with all fables, there is a moral at the end: "The evil doer often comes to harm through his own deceit." This painting is unique to my wildlife collection, as it is not portraying animals in the Wild, but rather, a scene from a fable. It is a 16X20 (horizontal) oil on canvas. It is part of my summer 2022 collection.
Medieval Boots “Dark Wolf” Knee-high leather medieval boots Nothing feels better than a great pair of boots. Good boots will take you all kinds of amazing places: onto the battlefield, into the courts of kings, through lush forests and rolling plains… really, the adventure opportunities are limitless if your boots are willing to take you there. Our “Dark Wolf” boots are meant to inspire confidence and make you feel like an absolute boss, which is why they don’t only look fantastic but have been constructed from great materials as well. These boots are designed with medieval and renaissance fashion in mind but will fit into any fantasy costume because they’re generic enough in design to suit a variety of different wardrobes. They carry the signature ArmStreet design characteristic of looking medieval but being adapted for modern comfort, which is why they appear medieval on the outside but have been made on a modern shoe last with a modern sole, bringing you comfort that never existed in medieval times. There are many layers used, including a leather insole, leather fiberboard, and orthopedia base, and a rubber outer sole to give you a bit of extra grip (opposed to slippery leather). Our “Dark Wolf” boots are constructed from high-quality genuine leather, which is supple and soft to the touch while still having enough rigidity to make great tall boots. They lace up at the back, from the base of the ankle all the way up to your knee, where they flare out slightly at the front to give you a cool, thigh-high aesthetic. The toe of the boot comes to a nice gentle point, and the whole design manages to appear masculine but refined, for the truly stylish gentleman. If you treat these boots well, they’re going to take you great places! Please remember that even though they feel comfy, they’re still flat medieval-style shoes and should be treated with the same care as fancy modern shoes. We recommend using boot shapers to store them to help them keep their shape, and that you brush off any dirt or water before putting them away after an event. Important note about measurements: Please take your measurements attentively - your carefulness will help us make your shoes perfect. Also you should remember that natural leather is soft material and it will stretch so when you are getting your shoes it is normal that they fit very slim. It will get your feet shape after one or two days of usage. For people with broad ankle or non-standard leg proportion we recommend to order more loose shoes, because this model assume slim fitting. To check how to measure yourself please click here (see video at the bottom of the page). Please note that instep measurement "e" is really important for this model. Please contact us if you have any additional questions. Important note: Brown, Natural and Cream leather shades may vary, as unfortunately we can't control color of leather which comes from our suppliers. Sometimes it may be darker or lighter, so if tone of the leather is important factor for you, please contact us before purchase to ascertain which color exactly we have in stock at the moment. Thank you for understanding.
