For the past couple of years, I have used Carol Gray’s materials extensively during my work with adults with developmental disabilities. Creating comic strip conversations has been extremely helpful in facilitating conversation, resolving social issues between peers, taking turns in conversation and providing different social scenarios within various contexts.
A new way to play an old game…great for all ages! After printing, cut away the white strip so the board can be taped together. It could also be mounted onto a file folder. Use checker pieces to play. For each move, the student will make up sentences using picture pairs that coordinate with the square his/her piece is moving to. There are pictures on the all of the squares so that other versions of checkers can be played. Options: Before the student can move, he/she must name one of the two coordinate pictures, put the two words into a phrase, sentence, etc. Clip art from www.clker.com, mycutegraphics.com, fonts from graphicsfromthepondblogspot.com This material and title “Speecheckers” is the property of Tracy W. There are SOOO many Halloween ideas floating around Pinterest and blogs that I could spend all day downloading stuff without ever having to make anything. BUT, I bought some cute graphics a few weeks ago so I had to use them, right?! Add my love of making materials and, bam! Halloween Language Activities! The first activity is for grammar. There are three pumpkin buckets for parts of speech...nouns, verbs, and adjectives. Then, there's the candy! There are 20 pieces for each part of speech. You can have students sort the candy pieces to the correct bucket or have them choose one piece from each bucket to make a silly sentence.Next are Lollipop Antonyms! You can use these for go fish, memory, and matching. There are 20 pairs in all.I also did Candy Corn Synonyms...with a twist! Instead of matching pairs, I did sets of three! You can cut the candy corn along the color lines and have students match the correct synonyms. If doing three is too many, you could just cut off the top or bottom one and have students match to the two words left.

Today is another Craft Junkie Too Design Team day. I can't even begin to tell you how much I love being on Tracy's Design Team!! Her awesome assignments are just a small part of it. The challenge for this week is to make a project to help kick off the holiday season. To read the complete story of "The Elf on the Shelf" hop by the website, but the general idea is that when your "assigned" elf arrives, you must name him or her and set her on a shelf in your home. Your new elf acts like Santa's little spy, watching to see if your child/ren have been behaving and will earn Santa's gifts. Each night your Elf will return to Santa and report any naughty or nice news. Every night when the elf returns, he or she may choose a new spot to sit. You may not touch the elf after that first day, you don't want to rub off any of the Christmas Magic, do you?? But don't forget, your little elf must be under the tree or by the stockings on Christmas Eve night so s/he can hitch a ride home with Santa. As much as I love the story of "The Elf on the Shelf" I just knew I could re-create the wonderful story at a fraction of the price. My version includes a printable letter from Santa. He tells a little about the elf, that you must name your elf etc. I've also included the elf passport, this is where you assign your elf it's name. Here are the parts of my printable kit. For this sample, I used the 1st letter download. This letter includes margins in case you'd like to print of holiday paper you may already have in your stash. I love that Santa "signed" the letter too! The second letter file is a full page and doesn't leave any margins. You could print it on any paper or full page patterned paper too. Here is the elf's passport. It's complete with date of issue (please note; we put our Elf on the Shelf out December 1st), date of birth etc. The back includes all the passport stamps your Elf has collected from all over the world. Here is the little Elf we are using this year. It's a cute little shelf sitter I picked up at a Craft Bazaar. http://www.4shared.com/photo/Xf18fHdd/Elf_on_the_Shelf_letter_1.html This letter is the one that has 1" margins all around. http://www.4shared.com/photo/nbbaeu0Y/Elf_on_the_Shelf_letter_2.html This is the letter with no margins (for use on full patterned paper or blank paper). http://www.4shared.com/photo/FZ-txtPN/Elf_on_the_Shelf_passport_-_si.html This is a single passport. It will print to a full size of 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", fold it in half and seal to complete your passport. I will be laminating ours to keep it from year to year. http://www.4shared.com/photo/pbzG7zSq/Elf_on_the_Shelf_passport_-_do.html And in case you have multiple families or grandkids etc you'd like to gift this story to, this is a double passport. It has two per page and each has a different passport number too. That's it, please head over to Tracy's blog and see what her other Crafty Designers have come up with to share today. This is played in a similar manner to the Guess Who game. You will need: 2 copies of the board containing St. Patrick’s Day items., 2 copies of the page with the Irish flags cut out (or bingo chips)., 1 file folder. Give each student a board. Put a barrier (such as a file folder) between them so they can’t see each other’s boards. One student chooses a picture on his/her board. The other student asks yes/no questions until they determine the chosen picture. Barrier games are an excellent way to teach descriptive expressive language skills as well as question formulation skills. Pragmatics are also targeted with this activity. Erin Go Bragh! Tracy W. I recently had the opportunity to provide tele-speech-language services to a toddler with autism spectrum disorder. I knew it would be difficult to have him sit in front of a computer for long periods, so I decided that I would employ a “parent coaching” approach, empowering his parents to more effectively help their son.
Since the SLP world has had to switch to telepractice this past month, I’ve been getting tons of questions about how to get started. That’s why I wanted to get you the answers you need from a seasoned teletherapist. This past week, I had the honor of interviewing Tracy Sippl from S & L Teletherapy...

This resource contains 2 Spanish booklets, one with text and images, and a text only template so students can sketch and create their own versions of the booklets. Each booklet contains 8 pages. Also included are suggestions for using the booklets and an assembly instruction page. Students first read and cut out the booklet containing text and images of spring. Sample words are flowers, rain, grass, birds, and bees. They then sketch and create their own version of the booklet using the text only template. Students will have fun sharing their drawings with family and friends which will help reinforce their language learning! The illustration version can be projected in class to present, review and practice pronunciation of the vocabulary. The text only version can be projected onto the Smart Board and students can draw pictures on the Smart Board that correspond to the text. Both versions can be used for interactive notebook activities. Created by Sue Summers Please click here to see more of my Spanish emergent reader booklets.
