The Wangari Maathai All-About Research Project Graphic Organizer is the perfect tool to help students write their first research paper or biography for Black History Month or Women's History Month. This printable research booklet is a great way to help children organize their facts about Wangari Maathai, the first African woman to win a Nobel Peace Prize. The booklet includes a cover page, 5 pages of graphic organizers, and extra writing paper choices. Students will answer the following questions about this person: What are some things you would like to learn about this person? When was this person born? When did this person pass? What was their childhood like? How and when did they grow up? Who were the important people in their life? Where were they born? (students can color or circle the location on the map) What challenges did they face? What were some of their accomplishments? What was one of their quotes? What were some major events in their life? Why were they an important figure in history? What are some fun facts you learned about this person? What lesson(s) can you learn from this person? In case you were wondering, it was fantabulous. 😏 In any event, Here I am with this week's freebie and it is AMAZING! I am so excited to share my Manifestation workbook with you! When people hear the word "manifestation," they tend to think of woo-woo, ju-ju, and all that jazz. Mopping the floor is probably one of my least favourite household chores. In fact, I can honestly say, I would rather clean a bathroom than mop a floor. I’m not sure why, but I think it is because a sparkling clean bathroom provides a lot of gratification. A clean floor seems to just get dirty […]

My little sweeties are always forgetting to raise their hands for permission to speak out and it's been about to drive.me.plumb.CRAZY! Enter the handy, dandy ..... ("Did you say I can win a prize?") Blurt Chart! I saw this Blurt Chart awhile back and decided to whip one up. Mine is not as cute but it serves its purpose. Thank the good heavens! Here's how it works in my room. Each number represents a child. Beside each number I have one blank post-it note. The original chart I saw used 3 but I needed less to offer that more instant gratification feel for my little ones. Whenever someone blurts out they have to go remove the post-it beside their name. Whichever student is the last one with a post it left beside their name is the winner and gets a special treat! Do you ever have a problem with your students blurting?

We all have our favorite sewing notions that help make our lives easier. I thought I would share a few of my must haves. I would love it if you would share your favorites in the comment section too. It's great to learn about new things, especially when they are tried and true!! These are a few of my favorite things... Bees Wax I've always used bees wax when I'm hand sewing. I've always had the bigger size disc, but I just found this package of 5 little minis!! They are perfect to keep with different hand sewing projects. Bees wax coats the thread so it doesn't knot up, twist or fray. I absolutely love it for sewing my hexagon projects. Look how tiny each one. I have a bobbin in the center to compare the size. I found them in the quilting section at Joann fabrics for $3.99. Thread Cutter Pendant I also use a thread cutter when I'm hand sewing and this one from Clover is my favorite!! It's a bronze metal pendant. and has a hole to add your own chain to hang it around your neck like a necklace. When you have it as a necklace, you will never lose your scissors. This is especially great when hand sewing in the car or on a plane. This was in the embroidery section at Joann's...$7.99, but use a 50% coupon. It looks like jewelry!! Just pass the thread over any of the openings and it cuts it beautifully. The sharp blade is totally encased in the metal, so you will never cut yourself. Seam Fix...seam ripper and fixer Another favorite is this rubber pen seam ripper. We've all been there when we have to rip out a seam. I'm there more often than I like. Lol This is a great seam ripper, but to remove all those loose threads... The cap of the seam ripper is a rubber cleaner. Just run this rubber pen over the seam and it will pull out all the little threads that you have left behind from the seam ripper. It's like magic!! Handy Storage Box... Ok, this is chocolate, but that's not my favorite...the box is!! Don't get me wrong, I love chocolate, but if I had a choice between chocolate and a bag of chips...it's salty all the way. I am a savory eater more than a sweet eater. I digress... Back to the box. These little chocolates come in a cute metal box. I know some mints do too. These boxes are perfect for a little sewing kit or a project holder. Here's a little bobbin to show you the size of the box. I keep my mini hexie projects in this box. It fits in my purse to sew anytime I have a few extra minutes in a doctors office, waiting for my daughter to get out of work or during my lunch time at work. The box isn't a sewing "notion", but still a must have. It keeps things clean, organize and handy. Hope you liked some of the items that I showed today. These are my own items and I wasn't paid by anyone to write this post...just wanted to share. What are your sewing favorites or must haves? Thanks for stopping by and sharing, ~Karen~
Promising review: "These seem to work very well. Other brands had comments about them not sticking well so I went with this brand and am very happy with them. I am using them on my desk at work as well as on the back of my night table at home to keep my charger cords from slipping behind the furniture. Sure works better than Scotch taping the cords to my desk." —bigmagGet them from Amazon for $9.97.Check out some other organization products that we're loving right now.
We have been busy, as I told you last week. Our kids bathroom is nearly done -- just have a few finishing touches -- and then I can show you! But, we got new flooring put in! Flooring is fun, but will turn your house upside down! Here is the kitchen before. It's nice, it looks generally decent. This picture makes the floor look pretty good. But don't let it fool you! This was taken three years ago and it wasn't as bad then. Remember I showed you what it looked like before? A mess! And here is the new linoleum floor! I love it! I really feel like I made the right choice when I was choosing it. {It was the top option in the picture in this POST}. It looks like slate, it has a slight rough texture to it. No grout...it looks like rectangular porcelain tile a little bit! Here is the floor up extra close to show the texture. The dog loves it because he isn't slipping and sliding all over the floor now! Why did I get linoleum? Here are a few reasons: 1. It goes down easy and quickly 2. No grout, all one finish 3. Less expensive 4. Easy to clean 5. Easier to put the same flooring in kids' and powder bathrooms and also down part of our basement stairs. 6. One smooth surface It's definitely going to be easy to care for! We also got a couple other new things! Our old fridge of 16+ years has been good to us, but we have simply outgrown it. I'm thrilled with our new one -- and we got a GREAT deal on this. Basically we got it for over 50% off the regular price. My advice: shop around and take your timing buying an appliance if it's at all possible. You may notice this oven is taking the place of our old 1940s vintage Wedgewood. It was time for us to get this one. I loved that vintage oven, but in all honesty it was just very energy inefficient for us. We live where it's very warm most of the year and it has five pilot lights that run 24 hours a day. It makes the kitchen hot almost all the time. It's fabulous in the winter to keep us warm. I loved how it did so much, though. It's for sale, so email me if you live in the area and are interested {we're in Southern California}! HERE is where you can find the brand and style of flooring we used. So, here is one last look at our floor before and now after! Darker? Yes. Cleaner? Definitely. What kind of floors do you have? Are yours easy to clean? Like what you see here? Consider becoming a follower or subscribe via email! Are you an Organized Reader? I'd love to see your organized space. Email me HERE and show me your space to possibly be featured as one of my Organized Readers.

It’s that time of year again! The snow is melting (albeit more slowly than I’d like), the birds are starting to sing again, and the days are getting longer. All of these signs also mean that it’s time for spring cleaning! Time to clean up and organize the clutter that’s accumulated during the long winter months. Robbie L - Holy cow-moly! What a FABULOUS idea! It took some creative forks in the road, and each time, it was easy to guide students back to the idea of organizing using patterns for every item. Once they had it started, it was a race to the end. The questions handout is perfect for this too! I am not a creative person, and it takes me so long to make handouts with shapes so I seldom turn to sorting activities like this. I am so thankful for this activity! It's a great way to make them think it through. Sarah S - This was quite literally the greatest thing I have found on TPT! My freshman integrated science students LOVED it and got a TON out of it. The only edits I made were that I made game piece outlines in word so that I could copy them on colored paper instead of using all my colored ink for the quarter, and I modified the lesson plan so that all groups had to come up with the pattern instead of calling everyone over when the first group got it. Still, hands down AMAZING lesson plan. Thanks! Melissa G - My students absolutely LOVED this activity! My students were extremely engaged in the activity and the loved that I wouldn't give teams clues other than "hotter" or "colder". I loved to see their "lightbulb" moments. I cannot wait to use this activity again next year. Thank you for such a fun, engaging activity! The Marvelous Middle - As a fellow TPT seller, I always love coming across a resource that blows me away. This resource was such a creative way to get students thinking about the arrangement of the periodic table. I loved watching my students work together to wrap their heads around this "puzzle"! The kids especially loved hearing that the process they used (looking at the properties of the cards) was basically the same process Mendeleev would have taken to put arrange the periodic table (looking at properties of the elements). It was such an AHA moment for them! Kudos CrazyScienceLady!! Susan C - This was the best thing I have purchased in a long time! It was easy to prepare the directions were clear and there were two options, one for a colored printer and one to print on colored paper. My students were engaged from beginning to end. The student conversation was spot on and very valuable. The students were able to synthesize what the missing tile/card would be. Students completed the included reflections sheet using thoughtful responses because of their experiences. I loved this and I will use this again in the future! The Lab - This activity was a huge hit during online learning. I grouped students into breakout rooms and had them work on one Google Slide. I could pop in and it was great to hear the discussions taking place. Looking forward to using it in class next year. Lilie F H - Absolutely Wonderful! My students loved it! My district's science consultant visited my class unannounced, saw my students total engagement with this activity and went into alts over it! Thank you for a truly engaging and learning activity. Stoked about Science - Thank you Crazy Science Lady! You literally landed me a job in one of the top 25 school districts in my state!! I used this lesson as part of my interview process, and they said that the thing which set me apart from the other candidates was the creativity and utter perfectness of this activity to introduce the periodic table to students. Thank you so much - I basically owe my entire future to you :) In regards to the activity - it works perfectly. Takes a little bit of prep time on the part of the teacher (printing out pictures, and then I laminated before cutting out), but it is totally worth it, and they can be used year after year. It really drove home the idea of how seemingly random things can be categorized, and it allows students to work together. AWESOME!! CrazyScienceLady
