St Lawrence's church at Weston sub Edge dates back at least to the 13th century, but of the medieval building only the 15th century tower remains, following the restoration (or rather rebuilding) of the church in 1853-4 by Frederick Preedy. Inside there are further reminders of the old church, but the most dominant feature of the otherwise Victorian interior is the rich stained glass, also by Preedy, that fills nearly every window. For more history see below:- www.cotswoldedgenorthbenefice.org/historyArticle.asp?c=30 The church is normally kept locked but keyholder details are given (it took me two visits to get inside though, first time one of the keyholders couldn't help as they were awaiting a replacement key, whilst the other clearly didn't want to open the door to me! Happily the church was open on my second visit, though I suspect this may have been pure luck).

Throughout history vaulted ceilings were used to ornament cathedrals and basilicas and make a space look larger than it is. In architecture, the main function of vaults was to give resistance to walls and ceilings. There’s a wide variety of vaults such as the Barrel Vault, Groin Vault, Rib Vault and Fan vault. This variety took ceilings to another dimension and more than art covering four walls with a roof. Therefore, Mozaico thought of taking you on a journey of renowned to less known monuments , spreading through three continents and two thousand years of history. We start with the contemporary art of magical stained glass ceilings made by Daniel Buren to conclude with the fairy land of India, the Taj Mahal.

This sign is handmade on pine wood and uses nails and string, and is hand painted using acrylic paints. The wood is sanded and stained. All of my pieces are handmade so they will all be slightly different from each other. I try my hardest in keeping all pieces looking as similar as possible, but due to them being hand-painted they will all have their own uniqueness - which is what makes handmade so fun!
