Ignatius Paternò Castello, the fifth prince of Biscari, realized his dream of preserving his imperial baroque residence founded on the fifteenth century city walls of the city of Catania. Palazzo Biscari is kept as the most beautiful and well kept palace in Catania, just as Prince Ignatius dreamed, a treasure to be enjoyed by all. Preliminary construction of the palace itself began in 1702 after the catastrophic earthquake of 1693 that destroyed half of Sicily. Before the dreadful earthquake, there was only one little palazzotto. Vincenzo, Ignatio’s father bought property and constructed the palace with its surrounding grounds. The riotously decorated Palazzo Parisio in Naxxar with it's Fin de Siecle glamour. Still an awe inspriing place and hidden behind such a plain and traditional street frontage you 'd never guess its presence behind.

La voûte a été peinte par Raphaël et son atelier en 1518 avec des scènes de la fable d'Amour et Psyché, tirée du récit l'Âne d'Apulée. Les festons décorés de fleurs et de fruits ont été peints par Giovanni da Udine, un artiste de l'atelier de Raphaël spécialisé dans la représentation de la nature. La Farnesina est une des plus belles villas romaines de la Renaissance. La fusion entre l'architecture et la décoration picturale y est particulièrement réussie.
