***Photo Heavy Post*** Good Morning or afternoon....evening wherever you may be. I have a super crafty post to share today that was inspired by the talented Suse Fish. I follow her You Tube channel and also on Instagram and I adore the way she scraps...anything. She incorporates recycled packaging, bags, scrap papers of all kinds...literally pretty much anything goes. I love to save packaging and have for several years to I thought it would be fun to stop hoarding it and start putting it to good use. I also am adapting another crafter's style into this project and that's Adele Toomey (aka Inkie Quill) from Australia. I also follow her on You Tube and I'm one of her patreons on Patreon. I love her easy style of "sticking and plunking" things down so you don't overthink the process. It appeals to me because I'm totally guilty of doing that and it tends to creatively shut me down. So no more overthinking for me I'm just going for it and frankly I love the results. Thanks Suse and Adele! xoxo Here are my daily projects so far which I'm keeping in this planner binder that I found at a thrift shop. It was a real bargain and it's perfect. ;) I made an introduction tag for my binder and I journaled on the back what my intentions are for this challenge. Basically Suse inspired us to create something using her principles of Scrap Therapy for the current #the100dayproject and also hashtag her #100daysofscraptherapy so she could enjoy our makes. It is really using my scrap stash up which makes room for new crafty products so it's a win-win. Yay! {Day 1} I doubled a glassine page a friend gifted me and created an inside pocket. On the front I decorated it with puffy stickers and ephemera from recent Citrus Twist kits. Later I'll include bits and bobs she's shared with me over the years and seal it up as a keepsake, things I don't want to use because I want them in my forever stash. After my recent craftroom makeover I am much more selective as to what stays and what goes. If I don't plan to use it then it must go - donate, actually use on a project or preserve it like I plan to do with my cherished treasures for Katrin. {Day 2} I altered Pink Paislee packaging from an older collection, Vintage Vogue. The split screen photo shows the front on the left and back on the right. That day I was off to our monthly Ladies Devotion and Lunch at my church. We have such fun and my dear friend, Lucy, gave a wonderful and touching devotion that day. If you don't have any gal pals then I encourage you to go get some. They make life go round! {Day 3} A mixed media background using modeling paste and stencils gives a quick backdrop for this photo. My daughter was around 6 or 7 when this was taken and she wore that pink hat everywhere. She also carried lipstick and a New Testament Bible with her everywhere. Sweet memories! {Day 4} More upcycled packing and this time it's a Jenni Bowlin package that held vintage buttons. Sorry for the glare but I'm not editing these photos because they'll be in groups and simply need to save time. The paper on the front of the library card kraft bag is from my dear friend in Germany. She wrote a note on the back and I saved it, in fact you'll eventually see more of that paper. I love the Paige Evans - Turn the Page paper clip that says "Let Your Light Shine" so I had to use it. This is the front side and below is the back. I attached a glassine bag and popped in a photo of my favorite church in downtown Corinth, MS. It was in a brochure that was in my hair salon and I cut out the zip code from the brochure as well. The mixed media heart was a free download from Minerva Levinston several years ago. The doily sticker is an oldie from Amy Tangerine and love that I'm using up my sticker and chipboard stash with this project. ;) {Day 5} I used Maggie Holmes packaging for the base of this mini layout, layered lots of papers and tissue and spelled out Laguna Beach and Disneyland with Citrus Twist puffy alphas. I love the size of their alphas! Washi tape at the top, a yellow doily and ephemera complete this one. You can see the other projects peeking out from behind and I just love the way this binder is shaping up. It is so much fun to flip through the pages, remember the good times and know that it's mine. :) {Day 6} **I know this one says 8 but it's 6, just got ahead of myself lol** This one is simply a 6x6 piece of paper that I started building on. I used scraps and more Citrus Twist ephemera from recent kits to embellish. The black foam hearts were on a nearly used Thickers sheet and I cut out the ampersand from a Paige Evans 6x6 paper and I can't remember what collection it is, so sorry. The doily peeking out is a Cambridge doily that I got for free, actually a bartender was kind enough to leave several for me once he learned I like to use them in craft projects. We were enjoying afternoon tea which was a great experience that I'd like to repeat again soon. Loved those little sammies! :) It records some great places we've been and would love to visit again. {Day 7} Suse Fish not only started Scrap Therapy which I adore she also does Faith Scrapping on You Tube. I love watching her videos and seeing her process while she shares her personal thoughts on Scriptures and passages in the Bible. One of her Instagram posts inspired me to create a rectangle vellum pocket to hold a prayer to God. Basically it's just me talking to God in written form and thanking Him for all of my blessings, thanking Him for loving me and carving out a moment in time for me to learn, know and accept His Son, Jesus Christ, into my heart as my Savior. {Day 8} It's so hard to believe it's been nearly a year since our baby graduated from college. Honestly, where did the time go? This paper {not sure where it is from?} was in a kit and I loved it immediately. However I needed to tone it down for this mini layout so I diluted white gesso with water so it would give a translucent look. I used Amy Tangerine stickers to build layers. It's not the best photo quality because we were in a week of rainy, gloomy days everyday and I needed to move on. Note: In real life it's beautiful. :) {Day 9} Last year for my daughter's college graduation we took her on a 3 week vacation to California. To say we had a blast is an understatement. Love this kid and we're so proud of her! More product packaging and the alpha's are puffy stickers from the April Citrus Twist kit. The label on the left side says "messy hair, we don't care" and we didn't lol. {Day 10} Yes, coffee is my life....no proper day starts without it. {Day 11} I mentioned my friend from Germany, Katrin, writes notes to include in our happy mail swaps and she always finds the prettiest papers. I love them all but this one in particular because I love pansies. Pretty is spelled out in fabric thickers by American Crafts and the PAPER alphas are from Paige Evans newest collection - Turn the Paige by Pink Paislee. BTW the set also includes a dark blue set of alphas as well and the packaging will definitely be used. ;) {Day 12} Pink Paislee packaging is so pretty and I love the text on this one so had to use it. The photo was taken in Sonoma, California while we were visiting wine country last May. I loved our time there and the people and weather couldn't have been better. I pray they are getting back on their feet after the wildfires last summer. More thicker alpha's by Paige Evans on this one. Can you tell I like them? {Day 13} I have a flamingo loving friend and somehow...someway....he has made me love flamingos. His wife has allowed him to decorate their home with them and I have to say he's done a fabulous job. They put a smile on my face because they will forever remind me of them. For my tag I did some mixed media and played with paint, ink, stencils and stamps. I added a pop of black with the polka dot tissue and the embroidered flamingo was a gift from a crafty friend and I love it! xx {Day 14} This was yesterday's share on Instagram so this is where I'm stopping as I have other things calling my name. I adore these ladies and last month we had lunch at a fabulous new restaurant in downtown Booneville, Mississippi called Market 105. It was sweet serendipity that they also had a boutique as well and I bought costume pearl earrings and a bracelet for all of us. Just a sweet reminder of our fun day and a thank you to them for the love they show me every day through their prayers and thoughtfulness. Friends are a true blessing in life and when they become family....well it just doesn't get better than that! All of the puffy stickers are Citrus Twist. I'm a monthly subscriber to their kits {they offer several} and I highly recommend them. Two thumbs up!! You can keep up with my daily #100daysofscraptherapy posts on Instagram at @lisalea64. I also joined #the100dayproject since I was already creating anyway. ;) It's not too late to join in and just start where you are and use what you already have in your crafty stash or what is lying around that just looks pretty. Literally.....ANYthing goes so cut loose and have fun! Take care, Lisa xx

Front Cover Compendium of Curiosities 3 Challenge #23 This may be the fastest blog post I've ever written because I'm linking my project up with only 40 minutes to spare before the challenge ends. Ugh! The past few weeks...well months...actually have been rather stressful for my family. Somehow I managed every time to meet the deadline but I thought this was going to be the challenge I'd have to sit out. Well I'm happy to say that I pulled a rabbit out of the hat! While my collection folio is covered, altered and assembled it is not filled with my photos and mementos...simply ran out of time...but I did add some of Tim's relatives. ;) We are working from Tim's third book in his Compendium of Curiosities series and if you'd like an autographed copy click here. This is what my folio looked like before I started adding pages and pockets. Actually this is the small collection folio and as you can see you have ample space to create a keepsake book. . A close up of the spine. I used papers from Tim's Wallflower 12x12 paper collection. I love these papers!!! All of the elements added are by Tim and I particularly like the industrial stickers. Inside left panel, there's a pocket with a mini journal that's filled with pockets for storing photo's, letters, mementos etc. The top outer flap. The arrow points to a hidden pocket. This is the inside of the top flap. This is the outer lower flap (what you see when you open the folio). The lower flap folds down to reveal a pocket and another hidden pocket at the top. I'm kinda fond of those. :) What the finished folio looks like opened up. You can see some of Tim's found relatives peeking out. :) Hopefully I'll be able to add a few more detail photos on Monday (I'm currently out of town) so you can see what my pages, tags and pockets look like. I used several Idea-ology products in making my folio and every edge was inked with bundled sage, frayed burlap or gathered twigs distress ink. The only non Tim Holtz item used was Martha Stewart's Lace Doily border punch. This challenge is sponsored by The Inspiration Emporium and they are generously offering the lucky CC3C winner a prize of That's all for me tonight, I'm off to visit the Curiosity Crew and leave some love. Have a great weekend everyone! Lisa xx

Adventures into paper crafting.
Compendium of Curiosities 3 Challenge #9 - Stamps and Framelits Hi everyone! I'm back to share a super fun project using Tim's Collections Folio and Compass Blueprint stamps and framelits. I received the stamp and framelits set as my prize for being a winner (in June) of Tim's 12 Tags of 2014 which makes it extra special to me. All participants of CC3C are working from Tim's Compendium of Curiosities 3 book and are asked not to share the techniques out of respect for Tim. I can share my process with you so here goes. Purchase your own autographed copy of CC3 here! I love the By The Sea collection by Graphic 45 and used it exclusively to decorate my folio. You can see the stamp and framelits set on my front cover. I die cut the layers and popped them up with foam tape. I stamped the compass image on ivory cardstock and colored it with Distress Markers. Then I went over the entire image with walnut stain distress ink to age it. This is the "spine" of the folio and it has three tabs but I wanted more so I folded it to get six instead. I secured it with double stick tape and covered the edges with paper. This is how it looks when you open it, there are two flaps that fold out and both are decorated with paper and I added a strip of paper across so I could slide in journaling tabs from the same collection. On the left page I fussy cut a mermaid and sailboat and I used borders to create a pocket. The tag is a #8 manila tag by Ranger and I covered both sides with paper and added two Idea-ology tickets held in place by a mini clip. The papers in this collection are SO pretty! I'm rushed for time so I don't have close ups of the tags/pages I created for the center page but hopefully I can edit this and add some over the weekend. Another fun border was added to the flap. Inspiration Emporium One lucky winner will receive this fantastic prize! I'm off to get this linked up before I miss the challenge altogether. It's been a crazy week but those of us in the US are about to get a nice break with a three day weekend. I certainly hope everyone enjoys their holiday and stays safe. Also, I want to thank the Curiosity Crew for choosing my Faded Layers card as the winner of challenge #8. What a thrill! Thanks for looking today! Lisa xx
Compendium of Curiosities 3 Challenge #24 Remnant Rub Resist features one of my favorite Idea-ology products by Tim Holtz. Inspiration for my tag came from the early signs of spring here in my corner of the world. Hope you like it! The Funkie Junkie is generously offering a $25.00 gift certificate to one lucky CC3C'er. We're following along with the technique challenges in Tim's Compendium of Curiosities III book and you can obtain an autographed copy here. Here are a few close ups of my tag... I used Botanical Remnant Resist rub ons to decorate my tag and two stamps from Tim's Urban Tapestry set. The speckled dot stamp was inked with Archival Forget-Me-Not ink and randomly stamped. The bird on a branch was inked with Walnut Stain distress ink and a black fine point Sharpie adds some definition to his/her eye. The background was created with distress stains and distress inks. That's all for me today, thanks for the visit! Lisa xx
Happy Thanksgiving!!! Today we are celebrating Thanksgiving in the US and I have much to be thankful for. One of my many blessings is all of you-my craft buddies. You guys are the best! As you can see I'm running a bit late with my DT card for TOP TIP TUESDAY. A new challenge posted last Tuesday, Buttons or Bows, and Elaine is our hostess. Zlatoena's Designs is our sponsor and several of the DT members created cards featuring her adorable digital images so you'll want to check out their inspiration. For my card I actually went sans stamps and used cut outs from Graphic 45's Place In Time. This card was based off of G45's November 2013 challenge and I can't share the link because the site isn't currently cooperating. You can download the instructions on their blog by clicking on the Contests tab and searching for it. Tip-Sometimes it comes in handy to keep a file with downloadable projects like this one (G45 Nov 2013). They are great for times when the mojo isn't there or you're super busy. This time it's the later case for me. ;) SPONSOR Prize is 2 digital images of winners choice. Happy Thanksgiving to all celebrating today! Thanks for the visit! Lisa xx
Hello and Welcome! I hope mothers everywhere celebrated a wonderful Mother's Day yesterday. We made it a weekend event in my family and had the best time visiting the Tennessee Renaissance Festival and touring the magnificent Castle Gwynn in Arrington, Tennessee on Saturday. I was treated to lunch out on Sunday and afterwards the day was filled with gifts, flowers and good times. It was really a special day but the best part was being with all of my family. When my son was in the Army it was hard to get together due to where he and his wife were stationed but now that they're civilians and living full time in Nashville (close to where his sister lives thankfully) it was cause for celebration. Okay, let's start... The first step in making a mini album is to decide what size album you want. I wanted my mini album to be 8 x 8 so I cut a front and back cover with my Fiskars Deluxe Bypass Trimmer out of black chipboard. If you don't have chipboard use box material from old cereal boxes or any food product that fits the size you need. The spine piece is obviously the height of the album, 8 inches, but the width is determined by the binding system you use. I used the Hidden Hinge Binding tutorial (link at end of post) which I really like. Once it's assembled you measure the width and then you have the measurement for your chipboard spine. I'll note here that in creating the binding you are free to change the 3rd score line in the series (see below) to accommodate for a wider gusset which is helpful if you are making interactive pages. They tend to be chunky and if you use a 1/4" gusset you'll have trouble with the pages lying flat and you don't want that. That's why I like a half inch gusset. The video will make sense of this. For the binding you need some sturdy cardstock, scoreboard with bone folder, double stick tape and a pair of scissors. You'll want to miter the ends of the hinges (what your page will attach to) and the side flaps. I like to cut my side flaps 1.75" but that's optional. This photo shows the back of your hidden hinge, you'll measure the width of the hinges (not side flaps) to determine the width you need to cut your chipboard spine. Remember the height will be the same as your front and back covers. Flip your binding system over and add double stick tape. Several folks recommend reinforcing your binding with Tyvek envelopes. When it came time to make mine I didn't have any on hand so I used a postal priority mail envelope (uses the same type material) which I cut open. Peel the protective strips off the double stick tape and adhere to the envelope then cut around the outside edges. It works in a pinch and since I live two weeks from anywhere it was a life saver. Plus it really does reinforce your binding so you have no issues in the future. :) BTW, you can find Tyvek envelopes at office supply stores or on Amazon. Grab your chipboard spine (which should be cut by now because you have your width measurement) and attach the hinges. You need to add double stick tape to the outer edges of your front and back inside covers. You'll notice at the top I bring the tape so far then put a separate piece. It makes it easy to peel the protective cover off and attach the side flap. I do this at the top and bottom on both covers. Be sure to line up your spine piece with the covers and then attach your side flaps to the front and back cover. Note: I place the protective cover back over the tape until I'm ready to decorate the inside. Hinge is lined up and attached now to add the side flaps. Flaps are attached and now it's time to decorate the inside covers. I added a comic dp which my daughter loves, black cardstock and another Disney dp for pockets for tucking stuff inside. The hands are attached at the side only so she can tuck something behind them if she wants. I love the hands and they are a SVG file that I found on Etsy. You may notice they look a lot like the Disney Cricut cartridge images but since I have a Silhouette Cameo and I don't want/need another cutting machine I started researching how/where I could get these. I'm happy to say that I found a great file which included these hands plus more images at SVGFILEDESIGNS for $2.50. Gotta love Etsy! :-) You can see the double stick tape which I added to both sides of my hinges. I'm not going over a step by step of how to put the binding together bc you'll see the construction process when you watch the binding tutorial links included. You really need to work your binding after it's assembled, folding the score lines (one way then the other) several times. This aids in helping your pages lie flat in your album. You won't peel the tape off your hinges until all of your pages are finished and they're ready to add to your mini album. The mitered edges help the pages slip on easily and the end of the hinges don't show giving it a professional look. I know several people add paper to the front covers, then crease between the spine and covers and wrap the outer covers. Well, what can happen is that if you do not use a quality weight paper then your corners can tear and that's no fun. I find this method works best for me and leaves me with a very flexible spine. Here's what I do to the front outer covers. I cut a strip of black cardstock (same as I created my binding system with) to cover the spine and add side flaps to the front and back covers. I flipped it over and placed my bone folder in the crease between my spine and cover then gently pulled up each side while running my bone folder along the crease line. I did this to both sides and like I said I end up with a spine that has the necessary give without tearing the cardstock. No, you don't see any lines lol. My front cover (right), spine and back cover (left). I wanted to round the edges of my covers so I used a We R Memory Keepers 1/2 " corner rounder. I added white and red cardstock to the black chipboard and a Disney dp which you also saw on the inside cover pockets. I picked up this Mickey postcard on my last visit to Walt Disney World and thought he'd look great on the cover. To the spine I added white cs and used a pack of Disney adhesive stickers. You can see the back cover and again I layered white and red cs then a Disney autograph dp. Here is a view showing her mini closed with all of the pages attached to the hinges. You can see that it's full but still closes nicely without the aid of a closure. Most likely I'll add one just for decorative purposes but I'm still on the fence about that. ;) Here are links to binding tutorials on You Tube. Hidden Hinge Binding Tutorial by SuperHappyScrapper (one I used) Laura Denison's Stack the Deck Binding Tutorial How to Make Hinges, Spines and Binding for Mini Albums and Journals by Anne (xannero 1) of Anne's Paper Creations If you like the idea of wrapping your covers then you might find this tutorial by Ginger Ropp of My Sister's Scrapper helpful. You'll also learn how to create easy waterfall pages as well. :-) Graphic 45 Waterfall Folio Tutorial I'll be back tomorrow with the first two pages of my mini album plus I'm sharing tips and tricks as well as a free template (from me to you) to use for creating your own pages. Compendium of Curiosities 3 Challenge - Altered Surfaces I know it's a wee bit early possibly for a Halloween project. Perhaps it was a subliminal thing, it has been "hotter than blue blazes" and maybe I was wishing of cooler temps or perhaps I was thinking of Tim. He loves Halloween and consequently he designed a lot of fun stuff for us to play with. Who knows??? Sometimes you just gotta go with it. I've been out of the CC3C loop for the past 5 challenges. Now sure how that happened (yes I do, real life stuff) but I'm back to play along with the final two. This one is all about altered surfaces and the technique can be found on pg. 45 of Tim's Compendium of Curiosities III book. I chose to alter two numbers from Tim's Idea-ology Alpha Parts, Numeric Words and Numbers, using the technique in the book. Micro beads were added because I like them. :) See that bat? Well he started all of this, I found him on my craft room floor (don't ask) and before I knew it, I had bats everywhere lol. You can see Tim's Shattered stencil on display in this photo. I blended Archival Jet Black ink through the Shattered stencil over my canvas to build the the base layer. After it dried I came back with Distress Inks-Black Soot, Seedless Preserves, Spiced Marmalade, Mustard Seed, Squeezed Lemonade-and blended the colors randomly over the stenciled area. I'm totally into texture these days and the more the better. With that in mind I die cut my branch tree with black corrugated paper and gave each one several coats of gesso and distress paints. Bent branches add more dimension and hide various spooky creatures. Like the owl hiding behind the branches. He's from Tim's Mini Halloween stamp set and because we have an owl living on the lot next to ours I wanted to include him. It's a bit spooky at night to take the dog out and hear him hooting. She's snack size for him and I don't want to wrestle an owl over my dog, but I will! The moon and stars were die cut from Tim's Crescent Moon and Stars die with iridescent paper. Distress inks were rubbed over the surface so the texture of the paper would pop out. I did add some shading with a black Faber-Castell Pitt Pen. The trick or treaters (aren't they fun!) are also from Tim's Mini Halloween set and were stamped in Archival Jet Black Ink because it's permanent ink. I outlined each one with a Uniball Signo white gel pen for some definition. The Skull and Cross Bones metal elements were altered with gesso and Black Soot Distress Ink. They're from Tim's Idea-ology line as well as the Wishbone in the lower left corner. The white marbles are from my stash and I added micro beads to the top of each. If you enlarge the photo you'll be able to see the micro beads I added to the base of my trees. I'm kinda hung up on these things right now. ;) Tim's Clipboard Clip will serve as the hanger for my canvas and it was altered with Brushed Pewter and Black Soot Distress Paints. I used strong adhesive glue and two long fasteners to anchor it in place. A Halloween token was altered with the same paint and glued in place with Glossy Accents. To finish I blended Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink over a 2015 Small Talk Stickers word strip by Tim, placed it on the clip and added a purple ribbon from my stash. I love the lettering of Tim's Ransom alpha's and to highlight the letters I added a touch of Brushed Pewter Distress paint. Seasonal Chit Chat stickers, trick or treat, were altered with Seedless Preserves Distress Ink and a black Uniball gel pen. You can see the spiders I stamped, also from the Mini Halloween set, and the black glass bats from my stash. After they were glued with 3D Matte Gel I added a touch of the Brushed Pewter DP to the end of each one to highlight. This was such a fun project to create and even though I truly had no intention of making a Halloween canvas, I'm glad I did. My daughter loves it and has already claimed it for her holiday decorating this fall. The Inspiration Emporium sponsored this challenge. Thanks I. E.! I hope to be back later today with my second project from my class with Finnabair (still editing photos). It may have to wait until Monday because my hubby wants to travel to visit our friend who was in an auto accident earlier this week. He was airlifted to Memphis on Monday morning and was cleared for visitors this morning. It'll be a short and sweet visit I'm sure but I think he wants to see for himself that his friend is going to be okay. A big thank you to all of you who've said a prayer for him and his family! One thing is for certain, you never know what each day will bring in this life so let's make them count. Have a great weekend everyone, wherever you are. :) Lisa xx
*click on any image to enlarge* Happy Friday everyone!!! I'm so happy the weekend is here so I can work in my yard and help my hubby with our ongoing deck project. He is doing 99.9% of the work with me assisting every now and then. Once everything is finished I'll be doing the power washing (if he lets me) and staining all of the wood. After all of the hard work is over we can decorate it and enjoy. We're both looking forward to the last part! :-) Today I'm sharing my April pocket letters for my pals at Pocket Letter Pals. Most of them were personal swaps as I've had to cut way back on group swaps. This is a busy time of the year and it's about to get crazier so I'll be taking the month of June off entirely. I'm busy making my May pl's to send out mid-month right now. ;) The above pl was created for my pal, Donna, in Indiana. We decided on a black and white theme with a pop of color. She loves deep vibrant purple hence the purple paper flowers added in random areas. Let me show you a few close ups of her pl which I love because I have a soft spot for this combo. :) The dress die cut was from my pal, Deb, and I thought it made a nice addition to this pl. The open pearl hearts were also from her. The bows on the 3rd pocket are by Heidi Swapp and the clock ephemera and paper in the middle pocket are by Kaisercraft. Another pal, Tasha, from England sent me a pl wrapped with pretty paper and this "beautiful" title she printed out so I used it and attached it with black gems that Deb had gifted me in her pl. The "hello" is a piece of chipboard by American Crafts. I used more of the Kaisercraft paper on the outer pockets and layered a piece of ephemera on the middle pocket to a black base paper. The chess chipboard piece is actually from a Twilight chipboard collection my daughter bought years ago on clearance. We're not fans of the movie series but there's some awesome chipboard in there. When I went rummaging for black and white stuff I came across it and thought it would work next to the playing card. I added a square resin frame to the outside of the middle pocket and framed one end of this beautiful lady. Donna can pop it off and use it for future pl's or crafty projects is she wants to. The paper butterflies are by Recollections and the "friendship" word is by Tim Holtz and was altered with silver acrylic paint. I added a dimensional hashtag in front of the word friendship on the left pocket as well. Donna likes to fish so I cut out paper from the Timeless collection by Kaisercraft with a fish image and added one of Tim's alpha cards. I decided to spell her name with alpha brads that were in my stash and then glued the card to the paper. For the outer pockets I created themes and added embellishments (the resin camera is by Wendy Vecchi). I'm really happy that she loves her pl! We have another swap set up for July when things are calmer for both of us. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Next up is a series of spring themed pl's and the first one went to my pal, Jennifer, in Minnesota. I used one of my fave paper collections by Pink Paislee - Spring Jubilee - and I love the way it turned out. So happy she did too! I used paper from the collection for the base of each pocket (including the upper left where I tucked in a tag pocket). I added 3 resin birdhouses in keeping with my spring theme and fussy cut flowers, butterflies, and birds also from the collection. Let's look at some close ups. I found these tag pockets at Tuesday Morning recently and thought it would be neat to use one to spell out her name and include her letter in it. On the outside of the pocket I added a Pink Paislee flair button which she can remove if she wants to. Chipboard butterflies from the Spring Jubilee collection were used on several of the pockets on this letter as well as the pretty Petaloo orange flowers and leaves. On the far right pocket I cut a Webster's Pages vellum designer paper and added it over the base paper. I fussy cut a large butterfly on this label from the paper collection, added some fussy cut cherry blossoms, rub-ons, more flowers, another birdhouse and chipboard butterfly. I added a birdhouse charm to the ribbon bow on the spine. Another birdhouse, more Petaloo blooms, chipboard butterflies and I spelled out "Spring has Sprung" with Recollections glitter alphas in teal. The pretty pink buttons (on the spine) are by The Girls Paperie and I've been hoarding those for years. It was time to pass them on to someone else to enjoy lol. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ My pal, Aparna, lives in India and we swap on a regular basis. This time we wanted to exchange spring pl's and she just messaged me this morning that it arrived. Yay! I used Bo Bunny's Country Garden to create her pl, it's another collection I love and that I've hoarded for a while lol. In addition I also had the rub-ons, ephemera and cardstock stickers so those made an appearance as well. Clear stickers (birdhouse, watering case with flowers and vase with tulips) were in my stash and I added those to. You can see it better in the close ups below. The middle and far right pockets both have rub-ons and I stamped on the middle pocket. On the outside I added this "bloom where your are planted" cardstock sticker. The text flowers are part of the design on this dp from the collection and I love them. I simply added some ephemera and to the middle pocket I added two of the clear floral stickers in my stash. I spelled out "spring" in alphas also from the cardstock sticker sheet belonging to the Country Garden collection. This row I added another rub-on to the middle pocket, with ephemera from the collection, more ephemera on the left pocket and a clear sticker with a chipboard butterfly on the far right pocket. When I am shipping internationally I tend to keep the front less dimensional so I can fold my pocket letter in thirds and mail out. It seems to help with them arriving in better condition than when mailing flat although I confess I like adding dimension to the front. Oh well, so happy that Aparna likes her pl! ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ The last spring pl went to my pal, Yamil, in Puerto Rico. We're members of a private group over at PLP's and it was the first swap of the group. The theme was Creator's Choice which I have to admit left me a bit perplexed. When I went looking in her profile I realized how much she loves bright colors and fun graphics. I don't know that I nailed her style but I'm happy to report that she loves her pl which makes me a happy girl. You might want to put your sunshades on, just sayin'! ;) Told you it was bright lol! Wish I could remember what paper collection I used. I cut up ATC sections months ago and placed them in a kit I created for quick pl's and forgot to record the paper line. :( Sorry about that! On the first row I added several chipboard pieces (btw postage to PR is not expensive bc it's a US territory) and some ephemera (39 cents ea) from a Pink Paislee collection. The metal charm on the middle pocket can be removed and she can add it to a bracelet, necklace or use it for crafting. Because this paper is so bright I toned the outer pockets down with a sheet of lime green vellum over the dp. If you click on the photo you can see on the left pocket that there's a piece of ephemera where she can add a photo if she wants. I added a strip of washi tape to the bottom and stamped a fun saying in Archival's aquamarine blue ink on white cardstock. The camera is a piece of ephemera by Amy Tangerine for American Crafts and the rest is chipboard except the die cut sunglasses by Taylored Expressions. On this row I spelled out her name on cute bunting chipboard from American Crafts. All of the pieces are chipboard with the exception of the skunk magnetic bookmark (which she can remove and use) and bright foam alpha's that spell out the word "fun". Oh I did add border punched grass (MS) to the bottom of each pocket. Even though she likes bright colors I confess I was nervous about sending this pl. So glad she lkes it. :) ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ The last one is a vintage style pl and it was for a personal swap with my pal, Mimi, from Rhode Island. I used another collection - Pink Paislee Vogue - that's been in my stash for a while because I've been hoarding it. At least I am now using these papers and sharing them so I feel better. ;) It was fun to create this pl with ephemera and chipboard pieces from the collection. I did some stamping on the top row and bottom row - I love Vintage and Girl's Night Out - with a My Favorite Things sentiment set. To the spine I added three simple bows and pink striped washi tape. Here's a close up of the cute pieces in this collection. So happy Mimi likes her pl and I'm looking forward to our next swap! Thanks for looking today! I'll be back on Monday with my Incoming Pocket Letters from my pals so be sure to drop by and check out their creativity. Have a great weekend, wherever you are! Lisa xx

Compendium of Curiosities 3 Challenge #26 - Smudge Stamping Believe it or not, I'm linking this tag up before the final day of the challenge. Yay! I can do it!! This challenge focuses on a technique - Smudge Stamping - that can be found on pg. 42 of Tim's third book in the Compendium of Curiosities series. I have thoroughly enjoyed all of the challenges! It's never too late to get your own autographed copy right here. {These make great gifts too!} I used images from Tim's The Impossible stamp set on my tag and used the Smudge Stamping technique. I tried to incorporate a few colors that I don't use much, why I don't know??? Peacock Feathers, Scattered Straw and Tea Dye along with old regulars like Walnut Stain and Black Soot. The background was filled in with two of my favorite Idea-ology products-Remnant Rubs and Tissue Tape. It was fun altering the crinkle ribbon with Tea Dye distress ink and grunging up an Adage Ticket with distress inks, a little water and a good scrunching. I couldn't resist using this trio of Remnant Rub gentlemen on my tag...seems they pop up everywhere in blog land lol. To make them stand out I glued an Idea-ology Monocle over them with Ranger's Glossy Accents. I like the old time feel of this hot air balloon so I decided (in my mind) that it was part of a hot air balloon exhibition in France circa 1896 and used Tim's Label Letters and an Index Label to record that on my tag. Using another fave product of mine I trimmed a border from the Frames and Trims Industrial Stickers sheet and added it to the stamped balloon image. That's my tag, hope you like it! This challenge is sponsored by The Funkie Junkie and Linda has a wonderful prize for one lucky CC3C'er! Prize is a $25 gift certificate to the online store. I'm off now to finish packing, my hubby and I are off to see our college girl later today. In the next week we'll be attending two award ceremonies for additional scholarships she has earned. We are SO proud of her, for SO many reasons especially the way she has conducted herself as a young, college woman on her own. She has studied hard and and in two weeks she's out for the summer. YAHOO! This mama can't wait to spend some serious quality time together. :-) Have a wonderful weekend everyone! Lisa xx
Lisa xx
