It's Group Post Day #2 for the November Papertrey Ink release. And we are featuring a great set of get well sentiments today. An absolute must have. We are heading into cold and flu season and you know what means (besides the fact I need to get my flu shot and buy the economy sized box of Boogie Wipes for the kids ASAP)...it is inevitable that you and your loved ones are going to be down for the count for a day or two between now and spring time. Grrrrrr. I've been making it a personal goal lately to send more "get well" cards. They should be right up there with "thank you" and "happy birthday" missives being popped in the mail. And since you rarely have any warning as to when you need one, it's best to has a little cache of them already made up. So easy to do with Inside & Out Well Wishes. I've got two cards today that are joining the pile. As I mentioned yesterday, we're focusing a bit this month on pairing the new sets up with some of our old favorites. I busted out Home Made and On My Couch (these were released before I was on the design team...long time ago) to create this little scene. When I'm sick, I pretty much plant my butt on the couch and watch hours of television. It's really the only positive of the whole situation. I wanted to recreate that thought. To do so, I die cut the retro television from Polka Dot Parade #3 in Smokey Shadow cardstock. I wanted it to look like the back of the television, since it would be facing the couch, so I embossed a lined stamp from Grunge Me to look like the vents you find there. Here is the sentiment I used from Inside & Out Well Wishes. It's actually abbreviated from the full version. I did some masking to match up with my scene. It works really well as this two line message. If you would like to use the full message (Comfy pajamas, cozy bed, big soft pillow for your head. Worry not, the world can wait, take your time and recuperate) you can do that too. Isn't it just a lovely thought? And nice that you have two options with it. Notice the little cord on the television? I thought it added a realistic touch:). Just the edge of one of the light string stamps from Come All Ye Faithful Additions. Next up, I have this clever little number. This particular sentiment comes in two parts. There's the "Take What You Need" part which I have stamped on a Mat Stack 1 cut and stamped with the Mat Stack 1 Collection. And then there is the list of words that can be used along with it. The idea is that it can look like one of those flyers you find on bulletin boards. Usually you are ripping phone number contact information off. In this case, you take the words of encouragement. Clever, no? It prompted me to use Lemon Tart cardstock for the "flyer" (just like a notepad) and attach it to my card base with staples. Here's a close up. I ripped a few of the words off to give it some interest. And you can see Dawn's new BB: Needlepoint stamped in True Black on a Smokey Shadow card base behind. It is my understanding that these two sentiments are a perfect match for the Spiral Notebook Paper die. The width of the words matches up with the width of the die cut. I wanted to go a little wider, so I stamped the words one and a half times and then trimmed my panel. Again, just another look. I hope you love these sentiments as much as I do. I'm happy I can send out some love in the mail when people need it the most. This stamp set and all the other November products can be purchased tomorrow night at 10 PM at www.papertreyink.com. The Papertrey Ink October Countdown is about to come to an end and I'm here to share my final projects with you today. But, before I do, let me remind you that everything you've seen peeks of will be available for purchase through Papertrey Ink beginning 10 pm EST tonight. Now, let me get started!... Winter Hills by Nichole Heady... I stuck with a gray color palette for this card. I started by watercoloring an ombre look to the cardstock panel which I then stamped with the wintry scene. Using Studio Calico pinstripe color mist. A Background Basics: Striped Sweater pattern was embossed onto the bottom panel. Heart-2-Heart #9, by Melissa Bickford, combined with Over Under Easy, by Nichole Heady, to create a beautiful wedding one layer card. A touch of glitter to finish it off perfectly. Over Under Easy and Background Basics: Super Stripes, both by Nichole Heady, was used for this little birthday number. Stamped the colorful stripes and then layered a black sentiment and black flourish. Finished the card off with a button. Layered Postmarks: Holiday by Heather Nichols. Stamped the sentiment onto a white card base. Heat embossed a few holly leaves and attached them to the card along with a few red buttons. Used Beautiful Blessings: Holiday, by Nichole Heady, for the sentiment. Stamped and heat embossed, in gold, a few stripes across the card. Menorah Medley designed by Nichole. I die cut the Star of David from three shades of blue cardstocks. And then reassembled onto a white card base, with dimensional adhesive. Peaceful Pinecones designed by Dawn McVey, used to create one final single layer card. Stamped a Think Big Favorites #21 sentiment and the pinecones, masked them off and then stamped the stripes. Well, that's all of them! Be sure to check out the rest of the Design Teams fabulous projects as well... The Papertrey Ink November Countdown is about to come to an end and I'm here to share my final projects with you today. But, before I do, let me remind you that everything you've seen peeks of will be available for purchase through Papertrey Ink beginning 10 pm EST tonight. Now, let me get started!... Comfort Food, by Lexi Daly. Truly a heartwarming set. I stamped four panels using images from this set. For a bit more dimension, I popped a few of the die cut spoons using some dimensional adhesive. Party Poppers, by Erin Lincoln. Using the rectangular chevron popper images, I stamped a border strip in a number of fun colors. Created a matching popper and filled it with confetti, glitter and a sentiment. Framed Out #10 and Sentiment Signs, by Heather Nichols. I stamped the frame in a trio of colors onto a white card base. Stamped and trimmed up the sentiment sign and attached randomly using dimensional adhesive. Finished the card off with a few black rhinestones. This card... defininetly one of my faves from this months release. Heart-2-Heart #10 and Background Basics: Inspiration, by Melissa Bickford. Stamped a trio of butterflies in a pretty color combo and layered the background font in light gray ink. Trimmed the panel into two pieces and attached to the card base with dimensional ahesive. Finished it off with a couple sentiment banners and rhinestones. Another card fave from this month. Hanging By A Thread, by Nichole Heady. I stamped a colorful border of vintage thread cards along the bottom edge of the card base. Then, finished the card off with a Purls of Wisdom sentiment. Well, that's all of them! Be sure to check out the rest of the Design Teams fabulous projects as well... We've made it to the finish line for the November 2014 Papertrey Ink Release! Thanks for joining in the fun and excitement all week long. Before we wrap it up completely, I'm popping in here to share the rest of my projects with you. A Cheerful Heart: My use of the envelope and letter from Niblet Notes was entirely inspired by this particular sentiment in A Cheerful Heart. Tone on tone Copic coloring on the envelopes give them some dimension. The postage line stamp from Postmarks was stamped on the edges in Soft Stone Ink. Fair Isle Motifs and Birthday Classics December: Two tones of embossing powder brings out the wonderful details of the Fair Isle Motifs. Colors are very subtle otherwise, with the use of Ocean Tides, Smokey Shadow, Aqua Mist, and Pinefeather. Perfect to reflect for cool undertones that come with the winter season. Pom Pom Pals and Holiday Thank You: These two sets are a perfect match together! I added just bits and pieces of color against a largely white background. Don't feel like coloring in the whole image from Pom Pom Pals? The perfect solution is to just color a little. By coloring the background space around Rudolph grey, the almost all white reindeer really stands out. Instead of going with a pom pom, I used my Copics to color the nose. I added the Wink of Stella Pen and then a dome of Glossy Accents to give it that shine that you'd expect from this little guy. Mat Stack 7 Basics and Floral Flap Dies: These look so good together. All those angles really work to make a dynamic card with little effort. Happy New Year: It was fun to layer all these elements with Just Smile and Framed Out #3 frames. All stamping, no extra bling. Nice to do that every now and again. Keep It Simple: Happy New Years: The inside of the Happy New Year Card has the same sentiment stamped repeatedly in the same colors used on the front. Type Strips: There is a lot to love in the November release, but the Type Strips get my vote for most favorite. So very clever how they work. There are a ton of sentiments in the PTI collection that are multi-step. Use the Type Strips to add some color to one of the steps in those particular sets, like I did in a sentiment from Building Blocks. You can even change it up a bit. This sentiment is supposed to say, "A party without cake is just a meeting". I changed the "cake" to "cupcake" match my theme. Phrase Play #7: This particular phrase play really begs to be colored and blended with Copics. And that's a wrap! All these products and more will be available tonight at 10 PM EST at www.papertreyink.com. Serendipity Stamps Challenge Blog Hello! The challenge for you still remains…. a window card. The design team was asked to make an accordion window card. Lot of photos for this accordion card. Inside front I came up with an easy shaker card: I just filled the Clear Envelopes (I normally place my card in.) with sequins, cut it down a bit and sealed it with washi tape, then placed my oval overlay on top. So Easy! Not as firm as the other way but much faster and it still shakes and nothing sticks. Yesterday I mentioned that I recieved some fun new supplies from Stampin' Up! and Papertrey Ink. I had some fun getting everything put away and ready to use. Once I spied the new Candy Lane DSP, I had to use it. I paired it with "Heart Prints" , "Heart Prints Sentiments" and "Mixed Messages" all from Papertrey Ink. I thought the flowers in the paper looked similar to the flowers in one of the large hearts. I also made this design using the Mojo Monday sketch 69 which you can see here: https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhi5huEu1KS-Ny6Xa-c0-mF7Eg-M2CpK25KHB9_Uq5JJjEwutlHP58qQoVee0SunqINHOojkS3XLm02ESuN_ZJynTAqmDfOBBQsNEhTYCLVsJL85HaqrKg0tqLbPK9VM-SQPISFvnMx38dm/s1600-h/Mojo69Sketch.gif I had a lot of fun using last week's sketch 68. I was so excited to find out that my card was one of the two winning designs! How exciting! I can't wait for my new Verve stamps to arrive. Not only did I win some sets, but they were all so cute I had to purchase a few more! A girl can never have to many stamps, right? Now that I am so organized, I feel like I have lots more room for lots more stamps! LOL! I didn't have a circle that I wanted to use for the main panel, so I opted to use some of my new Nestabilites I purchased from Treehouse Stamps! Ashley was so cute and threw in a fun fishy stamp set that I can't wait to play with! You can find Treehouse Stamps here: http://www.treehousestamps.com/ I turned the oval on it's side so that it could house two hearts nicely. I also added a fun little sentiment to combine the two hearts. Because this isn't a Valentine's card necessarily, I chose the "Embrace Happiness" sentiment that I thought worked well with the saying on the bottom. Everything is sponged with Vintage Photo Distress Ink by Ranger. The ribbon is some of the fun satin ribbon I picked up at Target. It is part of their "Club Wed" line and can be found on the Wedding Aisle. I purchased every color they have available, so I will be trying to find ways to work them into my designs. It shouldn't be hard since they are so fab! The one thing that I should probably stop buying is ribbon! It is such a weakness for me. I also had to added a "cross my heart" threaded button like I did on last Friday's post. Again, I had a lot of fun making this design. This will also be going into the stash for my friend. That is one reason why I steered away from a true Valentine design, so she could use it for anything. I stopped by the post office to pick up some postage stamps for her also. I will include all of the extra postage it requires to send these bulky cards. Her box is getting quite full and I am excited to give them to her. I have a few fun projects I will be sharing in the next few days. Thanks for fluttering by! Good morning, friends, and welcome back for a fourth day of Papertrey Ink May release inspiration! I have two projects to share with you featuring sets designed by Nichole Heady. The first is Sun & Moon, an intricately drawn celestial set that's absolutely gorgeous. The second is the newest installment in the Quoted series. Quoted: Dream Big is wonderful for encouraging anyone that needs an extra boost, but I can imagine it being especially great for grads. All that said, let's get on to the projects! Like I said, the first set I'm showcasing is Sun & Moon. The set includes a handful of useful and beautiful sentiments. I chose to make a birthday card. I began by taking a panel of watercolor paper and giving it a colorful wash. I used watercolors for this, but you may be able to get a similar look with reinkers if you prefer those. I allowed the background to dry and then I speckled it with clean water to reactivate small spots of color. Then I used a paper towel to remove that color and give a bit of a mottled look to the background. Next, I splattered small speckles of gold paint onto the paper and left it alone to dry. Once it was completely dry (truly and completely), I heat embossed the sun onto the watercolor panel using gold detail powder. I adhered the watercolor panel to a white card base using strong adhesive (to help it lay nice and flat). Then, I die cut a sentiment panel using the Sentiment Splits: Curve Horizontal Die. I trimmed it down to the size I wanted and heat embossed my sentiment, again with gold powder. The sentiment I used was originally straight, so I curved it on my block to match the curve of the panel before I did my stamping. I finished up by adhering the sentiment panel to the card front with foam tape. To start this card I cut strips of white cardstock and sponged each with a different ink color (in rainbow order). Then, I stamped the portions of the sentiment onto each strip using a darker hue of the same color. I used a panel of self-adhesive paper to assemble the strips more easily. Next, I die cut the Mix & Mat: Scallops rectangle from self-adhesive paper. I trimmed off the long edges, adhering them to the top and bottom of the sentiment panel, sticky side up. Then I sprinkled crystal glitter onto the adhesive surface, pressing and burnishing a bit to make sure I got good contact. I brushed off the excess glitter and adhered the sentiment panel to a white card base with foam tape. I love that bright spectrum of color, don't you? It's time to wrap up the Papertrey Ink January Release...so many sweet new stamp sets and products are available. This first shaped card uses the new Layered Banner Banter stamp set and coordinating Layered Banner die. I LOOOOOVE this die!...
I can't believe it's already the 3rd day of the Papertrey Ink March release countdown! I'm sharing two cards today and up first is this floral card featuring the newest Feathered Friend! This particular bird has stolen my heart; I just think it's sweet as can be! My sweet sister sent me a digital card that featured a blue bird with a pink/blush tummy, so that was the inspiration for today's bird! Once the bird was complete, I set it aside and used the new Berry Branch stencils to create this background panel. I added the Picket Fence that is die cut from white cardstock using foam squares to give it some dimension. I die cut the flowers and leaves using a selection from the Into the Blooms II dies and colored them with Distress Oxide inks. I arranged them around the fence and then added the bird perched on upper flower. The sentiment, which is from the new Inside Greetings: Quoted stamp set, is heat embossed in white onto a piece of vellum. I strategically added liquid glue to the back of the white letters and then adhered it to the flowers. The small yellow flower in the upper left corner is a left over from my next card. I thought it balanced out the yellow of the larger flowers and created a visual triangle. My second card for today uses the new Posies and Sprigs stamp set paired with the new lace edge dies. This is a pair of dies that allows you to create these fun lacy corners. There are quite a few possibilities, but I just opted for a very straightforward approach. As you can see, I'm really loving this particular sentiment; maybe it's because I feel so flawed lately! ha ha! I added glitter and sequins, of course, to finish off this floral design! Join me again tomorrow for the 4th and final day of the countdown! Thanks for fluttering by!
Hello, friends! Glad you could join me today for a new challenge at the ColourQ! I can't wait to see your creations with this color combo: I had a few too many things on my mind when making my card, so I'm not totally happy with the way it turned out, but sometimes that's just how it goes. The teacups seem to be floating in space and need something to ground them, but my brain was not working well enough to find a solution, so this is how it will stay for now! I stamped the teacups in Real Red, Old Olive, and More Mustard on a kraft card base that is only 3 3/4 inches wide. I stamped the bottom using PTI's Background Basics: Tin Types, then stamped a sentiment from Tea for Two on a white strip of cardstock. To finish the card, I added some white dots to the cups with a gel pen, scored a frame around the edge, and tied some olive floss around the card front. I suggest cutting a small notch in the edge of the card to keep your floss in place, as you can see in the photo below. Good morning, friends! Welcome back for Day 5 of the Papertrey Ink March new release countdown! I have a few final projects to share with you today featuring the Retro Style Graduation, Retro Style Birthday Sentiments, and Text Block: You Did It die. Let's get to it, shall we? My first project today is a birthday card that highlights the year the recipient was born. This is particularly great for milestone birthdays. I began by die cutting the sign from Aqua Mist cardstock and stamping it with Tropical Teal and white heat embossing. Then, I traced the arrow with a glue pen sprinkled on a bit of glitter. I then die cut the rectangle from white cardstock and stamped it with the pinstripe using Lemon Tart ink and the winged circle with Summer Sunrise. I stamped a 3/4" white circle with the birthday sentiment using Hibiscus Burst ink and mounted it in the center of the winged image with foam tape. The "it's your" shape was cut from Tropical Teal cardstock and heat embossed with white powder. I mounted the rectangle to the larger sign shape with foam tape and added the sentiment shape with flat adhesive. Next, I die cut the Skyscapes sun burst shape from Hibiscus Burst cardstock and mounted it to a Xyroned white scalloped layer. I sprinkled glitter onto the exposed adhesive to make the negative space shimmer and added my sign with foam tape. I mounted that whole focal piece to a card front layered with polka dotted Summer Sunrise cardstock. It's nice and bright and cheerful. After all, you're only as old as you feel and sunshine and perky colors are sure to add a little skip to anyone's day. This next one is a graduation card using the multi-directional arrow from Retro Style Graduation. I began by stamping and trimming the arrows image from white cardstock. I stamped the same image onto polka dotted Aqua Mist patterned paper and mounted the arrows into place with foam tape. Then, I die cut a New Leaf hill using the In The Meadow dies and stamped it with Background Basics: Woodgrain for some grassy texture. I then heat embossed the sentiment with white detail powder and mounted the hill to the Aqua Mist piece with foam tape. I textured a piece of white cardstock with the Sunshine impression plate and adhered it to an Aqua Mist card base. I tied waxed white twine around the base and mounted my focal point with foam tape. Simple. I like simple. Speaking of simple...it doesn't get much simpler than this last card, but I love it! I began by stamping a white card base with rainbow stripes using the Background Basics: Super Stripes set. Then I die cut the Text Block: You Did It shape from a piece of Luxe Gold Adhesive sheet that I'd stuck down to a piece of white cardstock (for stability). I mounted the Text Block shape to the card front with foam tape. So easy, but the metallic gold against the rainbow stripes makes me very happy. Alright, friends. That's all for me today. It's another group post day, so make sure to check in with Nichole, Amy, Ashley, Betsy, Danielle, Dawn, Heather, Laura, Laurie, Maile, and Melissa for even more inspiration. I'll see you again soon! Hi there! Welcome to day two of the April Papertrey Ink countdown. I'm here today to share a few samples using one of this months new sets and its coordinating die... Modern Cross Quilt and Cover Plate Die (designed by Lexi Daly). This stylish mini set features a trendy shape in a fun assortment of patterns. It's a wonderful set and die combo to play around with! Keep in mind that this set will be available for purchase beginning April 15th at Papertrey Ink. Plus, more info and a detail look at these items can be found on Nichole Heady blog today. So, let me get right to today's projects... This stamp and die duo is truly a versatile one, it can lend itself to a modern clean look or more of a retro vintage feel. My first project has a bit of both. I like to refer to it as a cool mid-century modern vibe. I'm liking it a lot... Modern and clean, with a touch of retro. The focus of both the stamp set and die is of course the modern cross, I chose to look past the cross and focus on the squares by popping them off of a color-blocked background. Then finished the card off with a diagonal sentiment panel, stamped with a sentiment from the Doodlie-Do stamp set. After being inspired by this photo here I came up with this design. Again playing with a diagonal layout, I impressed (used the die as an impression plate vs. its more traditional use as a die) the cover plate onto the card front and stamped the different patterns in black. After stamping each cross I precisely placed a die cut panel on top with dimensional adhesive. Then finished the card off with a birthday tag, stamped using a frame and sentiment from the new and soon to be released Initial Thoughts stamp set. Stapled into place using my well loved Tiny Attacher. This simple one-layer card was inspired by a Pinterest link I found here. I randomly stamped a grouping in a color combo of pure poppy, canyon clay, orange zest, summer sunrise and harvest gold. Then finished the card off with a sentiment from the Bigger Blooms stamp set. Well, that concludes today's look at Modern Cross Quilt and Cover Plate Die. Just remember... this set will be available for purchase through Papertrey Ink, beginning April 15th. Now, be sure to visit Nichole Heady and Lexi Daly for even more peeks at this stamp set and cover plate. Also, Heather Nichols, Dawn McVey, Melissa Bickford, Erin Lincoln and Lizzie Jones have peeks to share with you of their newest sets and dies for the month. Hey! Are you still there? Because I"m still here! It's been a while since I posted, obviously. So much has been going in our little corner of the world. Some days, it's hard to keep up! I just go with the flow of it. Our oldest daughter got her driver's license today! And we recently leased a 2016 Toyota Corolla for her (shout out to Holman Toyota - great job, guys!), to get her safely to and from college as a commuter this fall. She is SERIOUSLY excited. :-D And now, we enter a new phase of life, with a child who drives. I already had the worries creep into me this afternoon, as both of my girls went together alone to the mall for dinner, the eldest one testing out that brand new license. I keep reminding myself that we are not to worry in this life, and instead give it all to the One who watches over our every move. Breathe in, breathe out, breathe in, breathe out.... P.S. - Supplies for today's card include an Altenew sentiment, heart die from MFT, paper by Stampin' Up!, sequins from Pretty Pink Posh, and a frame from Papertrey Ink.
Quick post tonight about a quick set of thank-you cards. These simple single-panel note cards are incredibly useful. As you can see, the note cards showcase Kaleidacolor ink pads in a bold and bright design: high impact and super simple. The bottom line (ahem) matches the last color on the pad, as if the color is wrapping around the back of the card at the end of the thanks and returning for a hug. Love that! Love, peace, hope, and joy, Susan Supplies stamps: Papertrey Wet Paint and Faux Ribbon paper: Papertrey white ink: Kaleidacolor pads accessories: none...and that's the bottom line!
I promised the other day that I had lots of Chicken Scratch cards coming your way. Today's the day for that. Hope you enjoy what I have to show you. To recap...I had four products released in March at Papertrey Ink. They are all designed to work individually and together to create the vintage Chicken Scratch embroidery look. There is the original Chicken Scratch Stamp Set, the Super Gingham Stamp Set, the Chicken Scratch Cover Plate, and the Chicken Scratch Gingham Paper Pad. So much play in these four items. I am overflowing with ideas from the simplistic to the complex. Whatever mood or card-making energy level you are in, they can be adapted to your needs. So tickled it all worked out like this! First up, something insanely simple. I just took some of the Chicken Scratch Paper Pad and cut it down into panel and took some of the stamps from Chicken Scratch and made this pattern with Ocean Tides, Orange Zest, and Canyon Clay ink. This took mere minutes. Some of the Chicken Scratch inspiration I found on Pinterest paired up the embroidery technique with rick rack trim. So I just took the XL Rick Rack Border Die and added a paper version here out of Canyon Clay. This card is sized to an A2 height when you included the Limitless Layers 2.5" Circle Dies that I have popping up over the edge. The large daisy plus the end stitches from the Chicken Scratch Stamp Set fit very nicely on this die set. I think all the Button Stack Dies are a nice companion to this collection as well and used them here as my flower center. I took the Super Gingham Stamp Set and stamped borders on the edges of the card and added detail stitches from Chicken Scratch. Speaking of Limitless Layers, I took the Limitless Layers 1.5" Squares and die cut the shape out of paper previous cut with the Chicken Scratch Cover Plate. You can see the holes. The holes from the cover plate allowed me to use the bits and pieces of gingham pattern from Chicken Scratch Stamp Set to add this design. It's medallion-like, with a vintage flair. And placement is so easy with those holes! The smaller scaled gingham pattern from Super Gingham was stamped on either side of the split in Maile's Angle Vertical Die. The word "Love" is from the Stitched Holiday Words Collection. I wanted to show here how you could use both the large and small scaled gingham patterns from Super Gingham together on the same card. I stamped the large gingham in Melon Berry ink on Soft Blush cardstock cut with the Chicken Scratch Cover Plate and also the small gingham in Berry Sorbet ink on Melon Berry cardstock. I really am pleased with how much interest and detail the holes from the cover plate add to the design. They are super functional with helping you line up the stitches and the gingham, but add a surprising decorative element too. More Limitless Layers 1.5" Squares here. I just used the square die to cut patterns from the Chicken Scratch Gingham Paper Pad and added detail with black ink using just two stamps from Chicken Scratch Stamp Set. Fantastic look. And the bold black of the pinked square mats really pops against the white cardstock. This was a very easy card to put together. My mind bounces around all over the place when I think of new ways to use these products. This is the result of just wanting to play with the Chicken Scratch Cover Plate. A rainbow of floss cross stitches adds the rainbow element to my feel better card. The Super Gingham Stamp Set is really nice for laying down a gingham pattern on large surfaces, but I like to turn to the bits and pieces of gingham pattern on the Chicken Scratch Stamp Set to make smaller patches of it. Using the Chicken Scratch Cover Plate, it was very easy to line up those little pieces to create a custom stamped mat for my flowers and sentiment. You can make a gingham mat for any dimension this way. Fun possibilities here. I'd like to mention that the Chicken Scratch is a beautiful backdrop for all your floral images. They seem to go hand-in-hand. Here Rosie Posie and Rosie Posie 2 Step come out to play. And lastly, I used some of the sketches I made available back in the countdown to make this card. First I used Super Gingham on the Chicken Scratch Cover Plate to lay down a quick background. Then I used two stamps from the Chicken Scratch Stamp Set to build these corners to frame the Mat Stack Mat 5 Die. The strawberries from Strawberry Patch seemed to go with the vintage vibe. To more things I'd like to point out with this card. First, the tied string element. In using the Chicken Scratch Cover Plate this was so easy to do. I have holes everywhere, just had to pick two. And secondly, this background would have looked a little flat with the two colors of green (Simply Chartreuse and Ripe Avocado) on a lighter green cardstock (Spring Moss). With the white of my card base peeking through those holes, it adds an extra dimension and ties it together with the color of the Mat Stack 5 Mat. Reminds me a lot of all the peekaboo eyelet we are seeing in spring fashion right now. OK. I'm so not done playing with these items yet. I have too many ideas. More to come over the upcoming weeks. Thanks for stopping by. If you are interesting in creating with these four products yourself, they are available now at www.papertreyink.com. Happy stamping! Day 15, Tracey took us on a STAMPloration! I really loved Monika Skinner's tag with its sentiment stamped in a tone on tone then a highlight ink, ribbon wrap, and sweet tree! I used Papertrey Ink's Quotes: Favorite Things stamp set with this sweet lyric from The Sound of Music! Stamped the first part in kraft ink, and stamped the twine bow and rest of the sentiment in Versamark, then heat embossed with white powder. Had to add a bit of greenery, so stamped the teeny tiny holly leaf and berries included in the set!
More projects today using the new June stamps and dies from Papertrey Ink! Today's featured sets are Quoted: True Friends and the Herb Garden mini kit. First I'll share a project using the Quoted: True Friends set. This simple card...
The Papertrey Ink team has another group blog post for you today! We are featuring a new set of dies and stamps called Simply Jane. These will be available on the 15th. I chose to work with the "love" quote in this stamp set. You could certainly make a card with it, but I decided to try something different and turn it into a little message journal. Most of us are so busy these days, so I thought of a little journal that you could leave on the table to jot notes in to each other. Who doesn't appreciate a little love note once in awhile? I started out by making a card with kraft cardstock and stamping the flowers in the background with Fresh Snow ink. After the white flowers were dry, I stamped the sentiment over the top. Then I die cut the frame and people with 2 of the dies from this set (there are more dies that come with the set, however I didn't use them on my journal). I stamped the frame and brushed Chamomile ink over the top to distress it a bit. The center is backed with some My Mind's Eye houndstooth paper. I punched a little notch to hold the twine with a circle punch. On the inside, I stitched in a felt page, which you could use to pin a little note. I also added some papers from the Pacific Vineyard paper collection. They are loose inside. I was going to stitch them in, but I thought if I kept them loose, I could always add more papers in later when these are gone. On the top of the frame I added a little leafy stamp. Love You Message Center: Stamps: Simply Jane Ink: Fresh Snow, True Black, Chamomile Paper: Kraft cardstock, creme, Canyon Clay by PTI, Text Style Pacific Vineyard by PTI, houndstooth by My Mind's Eye Dies: Simply Jane Other: Rustic Twine, heart punch, kraft button, circle punch, kraft felt. ---------------- Please visit the other team members to see what they've done with Simply Jane! I've got one last project (for now) using my new Bibliophile stamps and various dies from Papertrey Ink. Thanks so much for all the wonderful comments over the last few days both here on this blog and on Nichole's. I think there is quite a few of us stampers/readers out there. I feel in great company. For me, this is a stamp set that really speaks my own heart. I'm so happy it speaks to yours. This is not the first time we've had a book-themed set from Papertrey Ink. Each has their own unique spin. What is fabulous about them all is that you can find ways to make them work together. I'm just scratching the surface today. Look for more in the future. Dawn released Book Club last fall. It is a stamp set using various quotes from classic literature to represent various card giving occasions. Works great with Bibliophile. And then we have Simply Jane, featuring all things Jane Austen. I added both sets to this card. I thought it would be fun to have the book with the Jane Austen silhouette on it be to be the one that is "speaking" the quotation using the large speech bubble from the Figure of Speech Frame Die. You could probably do this for several of the quotations from Book Club and have it work well. All the book spine elements were embossed in gold, to give the look of fancy books. Which gave me a thought to maybe try Perfect Pearls down the line. I bet that would be pretty too. The word "Obsessed" on the Soft Blush spine I felt was super appropriate. It seems that people who love Jane Austen, really LOVE Jane Austen. It is actually just a book title I made up to go along with the Annie Dillard quote in Bibliophile. Describes a lot of us bibliophiles. Before I close the book on the month (pun intended), I thought I'd put this out there for you. It's all the book quotations included in Bibliophile. Generally speaking, the quotation stamps and the author stamps are separate. And because I used just about every square millimeter available to me on the $24 set, I had to get creative with placing the stamps on the sheet. That means you get lots of stamps, but things might not be grouped on your physical set in the most logical of manners. I figured you were all OK with as many stamps as possible, right? :) Refer back to this to see who said what. This is also included in the pull out sheet that comes with your stamp set, so if you decided to make Bibliophile part of your collection, you'll have a hard copy too. OK. Off to start my day. Thanks again and happy stamping. Bibliophile and the dies will be available tomorrow night at 10 PM EST at Papertrey Ink. Looking forward to seeing your creations. Yep, the Papertrey Ink November release has now come to an end. But a few of us design team members still have a couple more projects up our sleeves. As previously mentioned, Dawn McVey, Danielle Flanders and I received a portion of our release products a little late in the game. So we were unable to participate in last Tuesday's Stitched Sentiments group challenge. But we are back today to share... First up, a simple yet lovely design that utilized the hoop image. The hoop was die cut from kraft cardstock and stamped with the coordinating image in Versamark ink. The center circle was stamped with "may" and then impressed using the Adia impression plate. I then weaved the sentiment banner under and over the hoop. Finished the card off with a few buttons and hand trimmed leaves. Next... another simple design, but with more of a modern look (which I think is a bit unexpected). I couldn't be more please with the way this card duo turned out. I stamped the wreath and sentiment directly onto a white card base with gray ink. Then popped up a few colorful greetings strips using dimensional adhesive. Well, there you have it. I hope you've enjoyed! Remember... everything you've seen today is now available at Papertrey Ink. Now, be sure to see what the other two lovely Ladies have in store for you today... Good morning my friends! Today we are off on our vacation across the pond to see my family in England. To say the excitement is high at our house would be an understatement! This truly is once in a lifetime to take all of our boys over to see my nana, aunts/uncles and cousins. We can't wait! But...I do have a few cards to share with you. I ordered the Meadow Greens set from PTI's release last month and was anxious to ink it up! The first card above is a one layer card that was tucked in my Auntie Anne's set of cards as a thank you for our visit. The bottom two cards are using other PTI sets and the color combos in the blog hop. Hope you have a great time hopping along the PTI Blog Hop! We're off to double check that we have everything we need for our trip.
