Here are a couple of printable posters I will use on the walls and for visuals: Saul vs. Paul Luke Light Roman Citizen Old/New Law Christian The Church Baptism Baptism Felix Festus King Agrippa Leaving Jerusalem This sign can be used for any Bible lesson, especially for travelers and the different places. Really, it can be used any number of ways. This has been discontinued by Carson Dellosa. I use this train for our study in Acts. Each car has a short title to tell the kids what questions are inside. We use them for review, and I let them take turns putting the laminated papers back in the cars, which they think is great! This did get published in the very last issue, of the very last page of Ideashop by Gospel Advocate! Here is a closer look at a car: Here are what they basically look like. A question, a picture or clipart, and Lift-the-Flap answer. Everything is laminated. I used cardstock on the backs of the cars to make a pocket. Make sure the cardstock fits on the back and doesn't show on the front. It needs to be big enough to hold the question sheets. I glued around three edges of each piece of cardstock, bottom and the two sides, and used my Aleene's Tacky Glue to attach the cardstock to the back of the cars. Mine looks like this: Just to give you an idea, my train cars are labeled with: Acts, Light, Basket, Lydia, Paul & Silas, Aquila & Priscilla, Eutychus, Jerusalem, "Trials", Malta, Rome. Also, when I staple them to the wall, I line them up, and staple the pocket in the middle to the wall, then staple the sides of the car to the wall. That makes it a lot easier to put the worksheets back in the pockets. You can find more about the train and download the posters here. (This is copied from an earlier post) This is not a great picture, but I have this on the wall with Bible Facts as the title (top right). We use this for review about basic Bible knowledge (grades 1 & 2) when I have extra time. The questions are on the labels with a clue picture, and the answer is inside on the letters. What are the 2 parts of the Bible? How many books/letters are in the Bible? How many books are in the Old Testament? How many books/letters are in the New Testament? How many letters do we have from Paul? What is the first book of the Bible? What does the first book start with? (creation) What is the first verse of the Bible? Who wrote the first 5 books? (Say them) What is the first book of the New Testament? What does the first book (Matthew) tell us? (Birth of Jesus) What is the last book of the Bible? Revelation (no s) The mailbox can be found here. Right next to the mailbox, I have these numbers for the letters we have from Paul. These should be cut out and laminated before attaching to the wall: Click here to print the 13 in green, pink, and blue. On a wall right next to the mailbox, for further discussion, I have the numbers 39 with a plus sign and 27 with an equal sign with 66. Also 13 for the letters we have from Paul. You can purchase them here. (Different website) Here are some older bulletin boards for Acts, if you are interested. You might get an idea! You could use any mailbox. You could use real envelopes and write on the outside. Or, print envelope or postcards on clipart. Here what mine have printed on them: From: Paul in Corinth To: The Saints in Rome (Romans 1:7) From: Paul in Rome To: The Saints in Philippi (Phil. 1:1) From: Paul in Rome To: Timothy (2 Timothy 1:4) From: Paul in Rome To: The Saints of Ephesus (Eph. 1:1) From: Paul in Ephesus To: The Church at Corinth (1 Cor.) This week we studied Paul and Silas. This is a really fun lesson! We also learn about Paul being a Roman citizen and how important that was in Paul's time. Last week we talked about Paul going to Philippi in Macedonia and he was talking to Lydia. She made purple cloth and sold it. It was very hard to make, and it was worth a lot of money. Her whole household believed in Jesus and were baptized. Silas, Timothy and Luke were also with Paul. Lydia begged them to stay at her house after she was baptized. Today our lesson is found in Acts 16:16-40. Paul and Silas, Timothy & Luke (Luke states "US") were walking through the streets of Philippi in Macedonia on their way to pray. They saw a servant girl acting strange. The men that owned her made a lot of money from her because she did fortunetelling. The girl followed Paul shouting out that “These men are servants of the Most High God and they can tell us the way of salvation!” She did this for days and one day Paul was very irritated. Paul turned around and told the spirit that was in her to come out. The evil spirit in her went out, but her owners didn’t like it because now she wouldn’t be making all that money for them. They dragged Paul and Silas into the marketplace to the authorities. They told the judges that Paul and Silas had brought a lot of trouble to the city. They claimed that Paul and Silas were teaching customs that were against their laws. The crowd of people were angry and the judges tore off Silas and Paul's coats and commanded that they be beaten. After the people beat Paul and Silas, they were thrown in prison. The jailer was told to keep them securely locked. He was to make sure they couldn't escape, so the jailer put them in an inner prison and put their feet in stocks. But at midnight, Paul and Silas were praying and singing to God. The other prisoners were listening to them. Can you imagine being beaten, thrown in prison and then singing? Suddenly, there was a great earthquake! The foundation of the prison shook and all the doors opened and the chains were free from everyone. The prison guard woke up and saw that the doors of the prison were opened up and he drew his sword and was going to kill himself. (Acts 16:26) But Paul shouted, "Don't do that!" because everything was Ok, everyone was still there. The guard called for a light and ran to Paul and Silas and asked: “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” They told him that first, he had to believe in Jesus. Paul and Silas told the guard and his household about Jesus and within an hour that night, the household washed the stripes from the beating off of Paul and Silas and immediately the guard and ALL his family were baptized. They went back to the guard’s house and ate while the guard rejoiced because his whole family believed in God. Click here to download the Roman Citizen posters. The next day the judges came to the jailers house to tell Paul and Silas they were free to leave, but Paul said "We are Romans, and we were beaten in public and thrown in prison, and now the judges want us to leave secretly? Absolutely Not!" (Because it looked like Paul and Silas had done something wrong.) Paul said to let them come and apologize in person. When the officers heard that they were Romans, they were scared. They went to Paul and Silas and pleaded with them and asked them to leave the city. Paul and Silas left the prison and went back to Lydia’s house. They stayed there for many days, worshipping with the other Christians. Paul and Silas left Philippi, but Luke stayed longer. The wording in Acts changed from Luke saying 'we' to 'them'. We are not sure where Timothy went, but he is not mentioned being with Paul & Silas in the next chapter. Updated file! I added this Foldable later. I really wanted some type of Q&A worksheet, but fun, interesting, since I have mostly boys. So, this includes the color and black & white. You can also just use the inside if you prefer. The answers are on the last page. Click here to download an updated file. I created these chains for Paul and Silas because the kids loved the Samson ones so much! It is such a basic project... and they really loved it! They are black and white only so you can print on any color paper. You can use for review or have the students put them together as you discuss the lesson. I added numbers to this set, because it is easier since they really wanted to make the chain in order. There is a space on the right side to tuck under and staple the rings together. Click here to print the chains. The students are adding something each week to their IFA bags. You can see them here. This week we added handcuffs for Paul & Silas being in prison purchased here. Click here to print the worksheet. You can find all the Acts worksheets here. This is a fun way to review Paul about his life in the book of Acts. *Everything has been updated with new files!* Includes labels for Paul's Life in Acts Fact Sack! Write the Room: Once you print one set of visuals and laminate (if you decide to), hang the visuals around the room at eye level for the students in random order. I put #1 on one wall, then went to opposite wall for #2, then #3 on another wall, etc. so they had fun looking for them. Print an answer sheet for each student. I attached each student answer sheet to a clipboard. I did not put the numbers on the updated visuals so you can easily delete any you didn't teach or need to skip. We walked around the room and the students wrote something about each event in Paul's life in the correct section on their worksheet as we discussed each visual. Option: **This can be used as a standard lesson without walking around the room. The options depend on what you like to do, how many students you have and how your students act in the classroom. It can be divided into more than one lesson also if you prefer to review more in-depth. I began the lesson with Stephen. Read Acts 6:8. When was the first time we learned about Paul? Read Acts 7:57-60 What name did he use then? Is the book of Acts in the Old or New Testament? Who wrote it? What else did Luke write? We opened to Acts 8:3-4 and read it and briefly discussed it. Then I had the students find the first visual. We walked to it and discussed what they remembered and I added what they didn't. I had help for this lesson and while I was doing the visuals with the students, my assistant was showing and adding review items to a bag for them to take home. For a larger class, I suggest having everything ready to take home and show each item as you teach. If they take these items out of the bag, they should be able to remember the lesson for each item. Here is the list of items (the underlined is a clickable link to help you. You can also download it and the printables below.): Intro: Stephen Smooth rocks 1. Saul Blinded by Light Light 2. The Event Cards are smaller visuals that can be used like trading cards. They can be shuffled and put in order. Students can write something about each event on the back. The lesson is included in this file. Depending on time and the students, the Event Cards can be used during the lesson to write a key fact on the back and they can be added to their Fact Sack. The Event Cards can be glued to pages in a notebook and students can add scriptures, Bible verses and notes about each event.

The final lesson in our study of the book of Acts! Although, I have a review about Paul and then Peter. Review: We’ve been studying about Paul’s life. The last couple of weeks we talked about Paul being put on a ship and taken to Rome, but on the way, there was a storm and their boat hit a sandbar. They swam to the Island of Malta. Remember that a poisonous snake bit Paul when he was putting sticks onto a fire, but nothing happened to him. Paul healed the Island Governor's father and people came to him to be healed after they saw what Paul could do. The people on the island gave Paul and his companions everything they needed to continue their travel. They left the island after being there for three months. Lesson: Today's lesson is found in Acts 28:11-31. They stopped a couple of places on the way to Rome and they followed the south winds and landed in Puteoli. (Acts 28:13) They found the Christians there and stayed for seven days. They traveled and stopped two more places and when Paul saw the Christians from these other places, Paul was thankful to God, and it made him stronger to know that there were more Christians. When they arrived in Rome, the prisoners were handed over to the captain of the guard. Paul was allowed to stay by himself with a soldier to guard him. After three days, Paul called the chief of the Jews together. He explained what had happened to him, why he was a prisoner and how they should have let him go but didn’t. (Acts 28:18) He said they had examined him, they wanted to let him go because there wasn’t a reason to put him to death. Paul told them that he had appealed to Caesar. And now Paul has called for the Jews. He wanted to tell them why he was there and ask for help. They told Paul that they hadn’t received any letters about him, and they hadn’t heard anything bad about him either. They told Paul that they wanted to hear what he thought. They set up a day for the people to go to where Paul was staying. Paul talked about Moses and the old law and the Old Testament prophets. Paul explained to them about Jesus. A lot of people came to see Paul to hear what he had to say. Some of them believed and some did not. (Acts 28:24) After Paul talked to them, the Jews left and had great discussions about what Paul had told them. (Acts 28:29) Paul lived in a house that he rented for two years. Paul saw anyone who came to see him. He was vigilant teaching everyone he could about Jesus. (Acts 28:30-31) Paul stayed a prisoner in Rome for two more years and Paul hasn't even been charged with a crime! For two years, Paul lived in his own house, he was allowed to hire people and to live with him, but he was still a prisoner. He probably had help from his Roman friends at this point. People came to his house to listen to his instruction about Jesus. (Acts 28:30-31) And anyone who came to see Paul, Paul talked to about Jesus. (Paul's letters visual) Paul wrote the Books of Colossians, Philemon, Ephesians, and Philippians while he was a prisoner in Rome. These letters were written around A.D. 60 to 61. Today's project is another of my really different, really fun, and really old ideas that I have done for years. I have updated it for you, though. Before class prep: Cut out all the parts, glue the envelopes together and put each person's items in the envelope for easier handout. Including the 13 stamps. Kid's Project: Fold each 'letter from Paul' as I tell them something about each one. It might be a lesson we have coming up from that letter, where Paul was, who it is to, etc. You can see from the next photo; they will fold up the bottom (where it says from: Paul) and tuck it into the top flap. Once they have folded it, they put a stamp on the front and use the stampers I have and postmark them. Then they will put them all in their envelopes to take home. We will also talk about how Paul had to write the letters and have them delivered. I purchased stamps from the Post Office for them to use. (I usually buy 1 cent stamps, but they didn't have 200 of them, so I bought half 2 cent stamps/half 1 cent. Really cheap for a project, though... and it is sooo much fun for them!) The postmark wood stamper above is by All Night Media and is called Wish Postmark # 554E. I don't think it is produced anymore, but I purchase them on eBay. Click here to print today's project which includes the envelope for the '13 letters'. Click here to print. You can find all the Acts worksheets here. Click here to download updated visuals. Between Monday and today I have opened our first art center of the year. The first center to be opened is the drawing center. In this center the students get to use various drawing materials from pencils to colored pastels to ink and calligraphy pens. I spent the first day of the drawing center opening explaining to the students what materials were there, what they can be used for and the rules for clean up. Since we are a 1:1 iPad 2 school, once the kids receive theirs there will be qr codes also on the board that will lead the students to various google docs and youtube videos that will help them or inspire them with their artwork. Below are some of the posters that I have on display for the students in this particular center. This poster I created to show the students what the materials look like on paper and I even blended some of them to show the students what the materials can do. One thing my students love the create are 3D letters. Linear Perspective is something that my students have trouble with but they love the outcomes once they are finished with their artwork. This particular poster was created by the art teacher that was here before me but I really like it so I had to keep it. The students always want to draw people but tend to always draw stick figures and that is one of my NO NO Rules. This is my NO NO Board. These are all the drawing and painting techniques that the students tend to do however they are very elementary and since we are middle school art students, these are not allowed in my room. We spend about 10 minutes going over this so that the students really understand what I am expecting of them. This year I had to add the No Tracing rule to my board since students tend to do this more then anything. I hope you enjoyed our little journey through this years Drawing Center.
