Karla Ortiz has completed some amazing oil paintings and graphite drawings for her current solo show at Spoke Art gallery. Her debut solo show "Chimerical" finds figures mysteriously draped with robes, hidden beneath veils and shrouded by layers enveloping their stories.
Another artist with a great style and a captivating way of presenting his drawings. Russian artist Rim Umyarov wears many hats, this is a list of what he does: Teaches art, artist, designer, architect, art author, graffiti artist, airbrush artist, international tattoo artist. What attracted my attention are his drawings, almost realistic, with a how to draw in the margin; showing a couple of steps to demonstrate the progression. Sketches of everyday objects made very charming thanks to the arrangement of the drawings and the tone of the paper, which helps give it that lovely vintage look. Ps. I gave the images some titles. Milan-based artist Marco Mazzoni works almost exclusively with colored pencils to create intricate drawings that depict the cycles of nature and worlds based heavily in Italian folklore. One of his most frequent subjects are drawings of flora and fauna who seem to be consuming or living on top of the face of a woman whose eyes we never see. The artist says he consciously does not depict the eyes so the viewer doesn’t consider the artwork a portrait, but instead a still life where all elements have equal importance. More

A collection of charcoal drawings spanning various subjects. The artist goes by the name huihuabiji. The only thing we know is that huihuabiji, Graduated from the Central Academy of Fine Arts. The social media site that houses this artist's work, only has a few drawings. Quantity is not all, as you are going to be able to see in this post. Lovely techniques, utilised to create beautiful effects. Like the sculptor and the city at dawn, just to name two. Minimalism and subtle detailing, are adopted through out to purposely give an incomplete picture that the viewer can fill in mentally, or leave as it is. I really like the dreamlike feeling you get from them. I hope you enjoy these drawings and the start to a brand-new week. Ps. I gave the images some titles. A sculptor in her studio. The heads atop each of these surreal graphite portraits seem to act as a canvas in and of themselves, as entire scenes and landscapes spill forth from each oversized face. Drawn by Austrian artist Stefan Zsaitsits (previously), each piece seems to depict an individual who is literally or figuratively encumbered by animals, objects, or metaphorical thoughts. The works here are just sampling of new pieces created for a show at Galerie Lang Wien in Vienna and for Art Austria 2014. More
