Dear friends, As many of you already know, I currently have the opportunity to publish my photos in an art book! It's something I have dreamed about for over a decade and today I would like to ask for your support. To finish and publish them, I need at least 25 pre-orders for a small market test, so that my publisher can see that there is an actual sales potential, and he can take the risk of publishing this book. If you enjoy my work and want to support the project, then pre-orders will open on the 6th of May.

If you have an attic, a closet, or even a junk drawer, I guarantee you can create a unique background for your close-up photos! My favorite thing about macro photography is that you can work on the tiniest sets; and tiny sets don’t need too much of any one material to fill your frame. You could create a stunning scene in a shoebox if you tried. I’m sure you have a ton of odds and ends that would make excellent backgrounds in your macro photography, so get digging! Here are a few ideas to get you started.

About The Artwork My creative interest responds to unconventional gazes and I look for answers to my concerns regarding the relationship with objects in everyday life, for this reason in this work that I call Urban Goblins, I use as a reference the Japanese concept of wabi-sabi that focuses on appreciating the beauty of imperfect, modest and humble things. The inventory and the union of objects in their apparent insignificance lead me to meet my references in Hilla and Bern Becher for their joint construction of silos as objects in the German landscape and I manifest it from color as from my reality in the hydrant as a recurring object in the memory of the urban individual. In this photographic project, my vision is contrasted with the characteristic beauty of the modernist image of the 70's. This is my way of representing the vestiges of the arrival of organized urbanism and progress in the cities of Margarita Island. In current times, fire hydrants have become urban goblins, and they are only seen by those who open their eyes to the unusual. What do you see when looking at an unused fork, a screw, a car part, and other scraps? Most of us see something that belongs in a dump, except for Brian Mock, a sculptor and a metal revolutionist who is bringing reclaimed materials back to life in a form of spectacular sculpture art.
Edition 4/200 Signed, dated and numbered. Harold Feinstein was born in Coney Island, New York, in 1931. He began photographing in 1946 at the age of 15 and joined the Photo League at age 17. By the time Feinstein was 19, Edward Steichen of the Museum of Modern Art had purchased Feinstein photographs for the museum’s permanent collection. Former New York Times photography critic, A. D. Coleman notes that Feinstein “was considered by the photo world as something of a child prodigy.” His work helped define what became known as the “New York School” of photography. In 1957, when Feinstein was only 26, New York Times photocritic Jacob Deschin declared Feinstein’s work “the new pictorialism, the refinement of the craft as technically perfected language.” In 1958, H. M. Kinzer, editor of Photography Annual, added: “At the age of 26, Harold Feinstein has reached the point in his photographic career when the word ‘master’ is being applied to his prints by some ordinarily cautious critics.” in the 1950’s Feinstein was introduced to W. Eugene Smith, the two worked closely together on the lay-out for Smith’s Pittsburgh Essay. Feinstein’s photography was chosen to help launch the first issue of the avante garde literary magazine Evergreen Review, which featured Jean-Paul Sartre and debuted works of Samuel Beckett. His close friend David Dellinger who was one of the most influential pacifists of the 20th century, asked Feinstein to be the primary photographer for Liberation magazine in the 50’s and 60’s. Feinstein’s six-decade photography career encompasses styles from small camera documentary black and white work to large format digital color. His photographs have been widely exhibited and are represented in the permanent collections of major museums including New York’s Museum of Modern Art, the International Center of Photography, the Museum of Photographic Arts, The Jewish Museum, The Brooklyn Museum, The Center for Creative Photography, and the Museum for the City of New York. His portfolios, photo essays, and articles have been published in major periodicals around the world including, LIFE, Aperture, Black & White, Popular Photography, O Magazine, Art Business Today, US Camera, Photo Electronic Imaging, Professional Photographer, and Audubon. LIFE published numerous Feinstein photo essays and featured his work in a short film entitled “Photographer for LIFE”. His black and white work includes the largest collection of photographs of Coney Island by any photographer. As a Coney Islander by birth, Feinstein began photographing his favorite place in 1946, when he was 15 and continued until 2000. This body of work has been hailed as a “modern day classic,”and celebrated by ABC’s Nightline feature story on Coney Island in 1995.

Two Assemblage Canvases... together they form one piece of art. Hung side by side, where one leaves off, the second continues the design. You can space these just an inch apart (pictured) or separate the two more - it's what looks best to you. On gallery wrapped canvases, I alternately blended a lighter gray with slate and white for the background. The background texture is a mix of paper and modeling paste that is finished off with a number of paints, spritzes, and metallic waxes. Tyvek has also been used in the background for a truly unique touch. Embellishments are adhered to the canvas to form a three-dimensional design. Look closer and see a piece of stained glass, a bell that still rings, a very unusual knob, and a milk bottle cap now filled with an old medal that says "C.M. & L.. Co. 70 West Helena." You'll find over 240 embellishments in this pair of Assemblage Collages. Approximately two-thirds are vintage found objects which includes: knob, fan blade, broken resin pieces, coaster, tiles, pearl purse bits, bobbin, bobbin casing, brooch, brass buttons, clockworks, steel round, bottle glass, bell, spindles, stained glass, buttons, various mechanical bits, brass rounds, sections from several belts, pieces of necklaces and bracelets, jumbo buttons, leaf, chain, plaster flower, icing tips, pendant, rose frame bits, wood flower, brass weight, milk cap, old medal, and toy piece. Newer elements include: buckle, belt section, arrow pouch, wings, metal embellishments, tiles, buttons, clock face, leaves, cabochons, tyvek, beads, gears, filigreed pieces, bracelet and necklace pieces, sun, and polymer clay decorative pieces (fashioned by yours truly). Each canvas measures 24.0" x 12.0" giving the set total dimensions (with a 1" space between the two) of 25.0" by 24.0" with a depth of 3.0". Hanging wire is attached to each piece. These gallery wrapped assemblage canvases usually remain unframed as the sides of the canvas are finished as well. Dimensions when hung together as suggested: 24.0" x 25.0" Depth 3.0″ This artwork will be shipped in two boxes to protect the three-dimensional elements. Therefore, the Handling Fee of $35.00 is the actually the shipping fee on the second box. No returns are allowed. I ship only to the United States. All art sold at Art Creations by Vicky is the work of artist Vicky Hensley and one of a kind. You can find more about my creative process at http://artcreationsbyvicky.com.
