Oh, you lucky Brits! The Royal Mail has just unleashed a new set of "Gloriumptiously collectable" stamps in honor of Roald Dahl. Matilda, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, James and the Giant Peach, the Fantastic Mr. Fox, and the Witches have each been designated with their very own stamp, leaving me to ask one question: how on earth could the BFG could have been snubbed?
So many things to show you today, and the amazing NEW In Colours! I love them all, so much so that I've decided to help you all get hold of them, so I'm running 2 In Colour clubs this year.
Girl at the Mirror oil painting Post Cover 3/6/1954 And now a bit more from my Favorite Artist Norman Rockwell. I wanted to stick within a theme of "childhood". First one up is Girl at the Mirror 1954. Since my own daughter is about the same age as the girl in the painting it moves me. She is looking at her own beautiful face thinking "when will I look more grown up?" She is holding a magazine ( how many times did we do this as teens?) On the floor tossed to the side is her doll. At her feet is her brush and comb and a lipstick. Kind of caught between two worlds. Bittersweet for me right now as I look at my own daughter. Home From Camp Top Value Enterprises,Inc Stamps Cover, 1968 The next is called Home from Camp 1968. Here we see the little boy back from his adventure away at summer camp. The door is left a bit opened because in their joy no one thought to close it and what kid has ever closed a door without being told to anyway right? Look at the way Rockwell captures the pride in the Dad's face. Look at Mom. she is just so happy her baby is home. It seems that she is saying "Oh, let me just look at you!!!!" Her face says it all. She sees a difference in her child and wants to soak it in. The boy is proud and so happy to be missed and loved. Look at the birdhouse he made just for mom. and he even sports what seems like a tiny band-aid on his finger. Even their dog is happy to have his buddy back. Breaking Home Ties Oil painting Post cover 9/25/1954 This one is called Breaking Home Ties 1954. This one makes me a bit sad. Father and son are waiting. For a bus? Train? the son sits straight and seems ready for the world in his brand new suit and tie. He has his books and even a sticker of the school he is about to call home for the next four years. He is eagerly looking forward to his future and the start of his life. Dad on the other hand looks to the past it seems. His hands are that of a working man's hands. His clothes are old. He's here to see his son off. My guess is that he has worked hard all his life to provide a better life for his son, but this day the day he has worked for now brings him alot of sadness too. The dog feeling that he is about to lose his best friend lovingly rests his head on the the young man's lap. I love this painting it's one of my absolute favorites. I hope you enjoyed these. Have a great day. Blessings, Joanne

Since there were lots of little scraps of carving block littering the table, I made them useful and carved symbols for map-making. Thinking about land and grids it was a natural progression to arrive at maps don't you think? Well, it doesn't end here. More coming.

Not all inks are created equal! There are a variety of different types of stamping inks to choose from, depending on the task at hand. Take a look at our guide for a rundown on which rubber stamp ink you should grab for your next project.Dye InkDye ink is a fast-drying ink with a water-like consistency. This thinner ink is ideal for stamping on regular paper surfaces. It's also the ink used in most self-inking stamp pads. Dye ink will absorb into the paper for very slight bleeding. This water-based ink tends to come on a felt pad and can be used with alcohol-based coloring mediums.Pigment InkPigment ink is a viscous, water-based ink that typically comes on a spongy foam pad, creates vibrant colors and is fade-resistant. Its thicker, slow-drying nature makes it ideal for embossing, and it may be heat set for fabrics, wood, clay and more. Pigment ink may be used with alcohol-based coloring mediums.Shop Dye InkShop Pigment InkWatermark / Embossing Ink Embossing ink, or watermark ink, is a slow-drying, thick clear ink typically used for heat embossing. Embossing ink acts like a glue for rubber stamps, allowing the colored embossing powder to stick to the stamped impression before using a heat tool. The stamp impression will then be the color of the embossing powder. Read more on how to heat emboss here.Solvent InkSolvent ink is a quick-drying, permanent ink made for semi- to nonporous surfaces, including plastic, metal, glass, ceramic, laminated paper, coated paper and leather (but not recommended for fabric). Solvent ink does not clean off with soap and water, so you'll need a solvent-based cleaner to remove it. This ink evaporates very quickly, so most pads will need — or even come with — a re-inker. Solvent ink can use with any water-based coloring mediums.Shop Embossing InkShop Solvent InkInkless Thumbprint PadAn inkless thumbprint pad is a type of ink pad that contains a special inking solution that wipes away clean just by rubbing your fingers together. Thumbprint pads are an easy and inexpensive way to provide extra security and prevent check and identity fraud.Skin-Safe InkWhen using ink on skin, it's always important to make sure it's non-toxic before use. Especially when using ink with or on children, look for the words

There are lots of ink pads for stamps but do you know which is best to use? The differences? Is StazOn waterproof? Here’s your guide!
Hello friends! Deepti here and welcome to a spotlight feature. Today again, I am playing with the newest stamp club set Bloom Doodles and for this one I decided to add color to my design a bit differently for a modern and trendy look. Looking at these beautiful images, the obvious choice is to color them but I decided to challenge myself and get creative. I was looking into some distress mini ink cubes to decide for my color scheme, when this idea hit me :) Let me show you... Step 1 So for this one I took a white panel and used the mini ink cubes as stamp to stamp those solid colors. They don't stamp perfectly solid which is even better as it gives a grungy look. I stamped the first and then I matched the black edge of the cube with the already stamped color square to get the perfect placement. Step 2 Next I stamped the floral images to build little clusters. Step 3 Once I was satisfied with how the images were stamped, I usually follow the odd number in stamping, like 3 flowers, 5 leaves etc... I added the sentiment. I took the floral dies and die cut three flowers from the panel Step 4 I also die cut these from black foam sheet and layered the floral diecuts on them. I then fixed them back on the panel for inlaid look. For my color scheme, I follow the primary colors... blue pink and yellow. So you can pick any shade of these. They usually work great :) Here is a look at the card one more time: I used Bloom Doodles, Hello You, and Trendy Spring Bloom dies. That finishes my spotlight feature :) I hope you enjoyed it and will give this a try. Happy paper crafting!
*** Stampscape is a fascinating way to make landscape cards, and StampARTic is so happy to have two very talented ladies to show us how this done in a tutorial. Many already know Birgit and Anne Kristin, two great card makers, that have a real passion for Stampscape. And their passion really show, cause the cards they make is just magic. “Difficult”, you may think, but Birgit and Anne Kristin say it`s not. And I guess that is true, cause I have seen beginners join their class, and they come back a few hours later with the most beautiful Stampscape cards. Here you will first get some smart tips, and then you will get to see how these beautiful cards are made. *** We have tried (and failed) a lot with different kind of paper, and the paper we like the most is “Glossy paper” from Claes Olson, “omslagsark”. You can use other Glossy paper as well, it just might cost a little extra. It is a good idea to practise a little on cheap paper in the beginning. Many of the Stampscape detail stamps are very small, and a good tip is to stamp them on acetat/overlay. Then you can put it over your landscape and easily see what works. That way you won`t ruin your work by adding details with the wrong size. *** We use big sponges on the large areas, and small makeup pads on smaller areas. Q-tips is a must for small details. To stamp the motifs we use “Memento tuxedo black, dye ink”. For colouring we use all of Tim Holtz Distress Ink, and also Adirondack have a lot of great coloures with dye pads. It is wise to start with just a few coloures in different shades. Leave some white areas, and make the edges darker, this will bring life to your work. You can use a white gel pen for extra details, but don`t overdo it. You can also use LePlum markers directly on your stamp, and stamp over, F ex to make your threes green. Just remember to let the ink dry in between, it is great to use a heat tool for this. It is Easy to get finger prints on the glossy paper, so try not to touch your work too much. It is a good idea to use a clean sponge to hold and turn around your paper when you work with it. To keep the coloures last longer, it is wise to use some fix when you are done. ________________________ Stemplene som er blitt brukt her heter: The stamps used are: Crooked path 146F, Tree cluster 244E, Lakeside cabin 147F, Rockey peaks 188F, Fence, Reeds 067B Foruten Mementos sin sorte har jeg brukt følgende farger av Tim Holtz sine Distress puter: I have used ”Memento, black”, and these Distress coloures: Stormy Sky, Faded Jeans, Chipped Sapphire, Rusty Hidge, Wild Honey, Vintage Photo, Forest Moss, Peeled Paint. *** I start by stamping the river. *** I fill in more on both sides. It doesn`t have to be perfect, it will still look great in the end. Nå stempler jeg trærne. *** Now I add the trees Jeg maskerer trærne når jeg stempler hytten. *** I make a mask for the trees when I stamp the cottage. Here I just used ink on the upper part of the stamp, I didn`t want the tree mirror in the water. *** Keep the mask on the trees, and stamp the mountains. Now stamp the mountains two times, so it fills your paper. You don`t have to mask the cottage, the mountains will fit right in. I halso add a fence down to the left. Masker fjellene, og stryk på ”Stormy Sky” i striper over himmelen. La det være igjen noen hvite felt. *** Make a mask for the mountains, and use ”Stormy Sky” in stripes as the sky. Leave some white areas. *** Now I make shadows with”Faded Jeans”. *** Now I add thin stripes of ”Chiped Sapphire”in the sky, and also in the corners to make depth. I colour the cottage with Faded Jeans” and “Vintage Photo”. I have used the same blue coloures on the river. On the mountains I have used “Rusty Hidge”, and for the stones and the grass I have used “Vintage Photo”. *** Here I have added some ”Wild Honey” to the mountains, ”Forrest Moss” to the grass and for the trees I have used ”Peeled Paint” and ”Pine Needles”. Fjellet har her fått litt ”Vintage Photo”. *** Some ”Vintage Photo” for the mountains. *** In the end I add some details. Some branches in the corners, straws in the front, and some extra “Vintage Photo” in the lower corners. I have used a circle mask and a little “Stormy Sky” to make a moon. In the cottages windows I have used yellow Promarker. Here is the card all finished. *** This I have made the same way, but I have also used my white gel roller. That is what so fascinating with Stampscape, how many different scenes you can make from the same stamps. _______________________________________ Her har jeg laget striper over arket med ”Tumbled Glass”. *** Here I have made some stripes on the paper with “Tumbled Glass”. *** New stripes with”Faded Jeans”, a little bit smaller than the first ones. Og til slutt ”Chipped Sapphire”. *** And then some”Chipped Sapphire”. *** I stamp the motif, and use the darkest blue around the whole paper. *** I add the rest of the stamps. Montert, og ferdig:) *** In the end I use”Vintage Photo” on the rocks by the trees, and in the front. Mount the card, and you are done:) Her har jeg brukt de samme stemplene som over, men svampet med ”Milled Lavender” og ”Dusty Concord”. *** Here I have used the same stamps, but with different coloures, “Milled Lavender”, and “Dusty Concord”. The moon is made with a circle mask.
