What’s your favorite kind of ice cream?? McKenna and I both love chocolate mint, but I also adore coffee and Ben and Jerry’s dairy free Chunky Monkey (banana, chocolate, and walnuts). I could definitely go for a scoop right now...and guess what? It’s supposed to be sunny for the next week! So perhaps ice cream will be necessary.... • McKenna’s darling dress was designed and sewn by @libertyjaneclothing 🍦

If you grew up in the 1960s, it's likely that you would have watched an animated television program called the Flintstones. A playful take on entertainer Jackie Gleason's "The Honeymooners" series, it broadcast the exploits of a "modern Stone-Age family." This pattern, by Forever 18 Inches, is a nod to that show and those times, and a great choice for a 1960s or modern-day costume for 18" dolls. The tunic has three main pattern pieces and is designed for use with non-fraying fabrics to eliminate hemming. This quick and easy-level sewing project is a great choice for craft-show sellers, Etsy vendors, and would also be a perfect mother-daughter project for cold winter months. Non-fraying costume suede, faux suede, or a cotton quilter's fabric backed with lightweight iron-on interfacing can be used to create the dress. Instructions for the fashionable Stone Age accessories are also included. This pattern was sized to fit snugly, and accurate seams are important to achieve a good fit. This pattern was sized on a recently purchased American Girl Doll (Chest: 11”, Waist: 10 1/2”, Hips: 12-1/4”). If your doll is smaller/larger, you may need to make adjustments to the pattern for an optimal fit. The most critical measurement is the hip size. Recommended Fabrics: Non-fraying fabrics such as costume suede, faux suede, medium-weight stable knits, OR quilter's cottons backed with very lightweight iron-on interfacing Supplies Needed: Fabric Requirements for Tunic: - Option 1: 1/3 yd. of non-fraying fabric such as Costume Suede, Faux Suede, or Quilter's Cotton backed with very lightweight iron-on interfacing Notions: 1. Matching thread 2. One pair of small, very sharp scissors to trim seam allowances 3. If using woven fabric: ¼ yd. very lightweight iron-on interfacing 4. Optional: Fray Check 5. Five medium-large snaps OR approximately 8" of thin-style Hook-and-Loop (1/4" - 3/8" wide) Option 2 Accessories: 1. Club: One wooden Shish-k-bob skewer, I piece of tissue wrapping paper, 1" wide masking tape, brown and black acrylic paint, paintbrush 2. "Bone" Hair Ornament: white Fimo or other moldable polymer clay, optional brown soft pastels* for shading the "bone" 3. "Tooth" Necklace: 1/3 yd. of 1/8" round elastic cord, beads with at least a 1/8" opening (I used four wooden beads), white Fimo or other moldable polymer clay, optional brown soft artist's pastels* for shading the "bones" Skill Level: Easy What You Get: One 26 page sewing pattern that you digitally download as a PDF file so you can start your project immediately!
