When in Positano, which is located along the Amalfi Coast of Italy, you will be very tempted to spend your entire time meandering along the beach, the storefronts and restaurants. And why not, it is such a beautiful town that you just can’t get enough of it. While I do agree and can confirm that we did spend plenty of time in the core of the town, I wanted to see more and from a different perspective, I wanted to go high up. With our hiking boots on, we began our trek to get to top of the mountain range that cradles the town. The hike took a while but the visuals along the hike were fantastic. With every new elevation and turn, there was a new vista to enjoy. When we reached about halfway up the mountain, we came upon this location from where I witnessed this view, it was very special. It was also time to rest and breathe in this beautiful scene. The striking clear blue water is mesmerizing. The color is so vibrant, and it is something that is hard to see when you are closer to the water level. The colorful buildings seem to flow down the cliffs towards the sea and it’s a wonderous view. As you look along the cliffside out toward the sea, in the distance near the top of the image is the island of Capri. This image was challenging to find, and it took a lot of energy and some luck. I am so glad that we decided to make the hike up the mountain, to try and capture a unique view of the town of Positano, which seems so far below us. I am really happy with the result. Should you get to Positano, make sure you bring your hiking shoes, and treat yourself by taking a day to hike up to a higher elevation, and see Positano from a different perspective.
