Forty five years is probably a bit old to be playing horsey, reading storybooks or having fun with cardboard boxes and milk cartons – but ABC’s Play School is proud to be doing so as it reaches its 45th anniversary this week. The Australian series of Play School launched at 10.05am on Monday, 18 July ...

Twenty years after retiring from the popular programme, Play School’s Humpty Dumpty is to go under the hammer for £1,200 later this month.
Love this... I had one before but I ruined by using Mr. Clean Eraser (before I knew NOT to use it on any kind of plastic). This one is in great shape.
How many of these did you play with?

Mike Kane once got the following headline in Cranked Up mag - THE MOST HATED MAN IN DUNDEE - and it went on to state - "Vex has elicited more horror, disgust and outrage than any other musician of his time". The piece was written by Fabian Bell aka Craig Methven and it continued with an interview which contained this classic opening line - "Mike, I know a lot of people who want to punch you in the mouth..."!! Vex did get a few pages of coverage in Cranked Up but his band didn't exactly get the C.U. thumbs up, and so Vex decided to print up their own literature, putting the band's point of view across, in music as well as politically. These publications were given out free at gigs. A couple of examples are shown above, from the 1981/82 period. The top cover has printed on it - VEX (veks) annoy, irritate, make unhappy. The 2nd cover has printed on it - LECTURES SET TO NOISE. The bottom snippet comes from the Lectures mag and has Vex laying it on the line with a mini manifesto describing their declaration of intent.

When I was a young girl bath crystals (above) and bath beads (below) were popular birthday party gifts. Bath crystals came in pretty glass containers - often with a stopper that reminded me of Jeannie's bottle on I Dream of Jeannie. Bath beads were about the size of marbles, and they were filled with scented oil that made the bath tub slippery! They were very pretty, though. Ironically, as an adult I use only unscented, sensitive skin products and prefer natural if at all possible ... but I still have fond memories of these bath products from my childhood years. Do you remember these bath products or other similar products from retro years? I'd love to hear from you in the comments, below.
Not Hirst's 22ft version, but one of the originals. I think it's probably a rarity now: it's years since I've seen one actually deployed as a collection box. This one is in aid of Vranch House, a school in Exeter catering for the needs of children with physical disabilities. The school is owned and maintained by the Devon and Exeter Spastics Society; and the collection box was a model originally used by what was then known as the Spastics Society (now Scope) from the 1960s.
