Parę lat temu, kiedy przeglądałam listę uprawianych irysów SDB dotarło do mnie że ja nie mam w ogóle żadnego z kwiatem typu plicata. Zero absolutne, null! Obudziło się we mnie kolekcjonerstwo, najgorszy doradca ogrodowy ( ogrody kolekcjonerów rzadko czarują pięknem rabat, najczęściej to tzw. zbiór roślin ). W ramach pomocy natychmiastowej ( Pogotowie Irysowe ) udałam się do Babyewy i wylazłam z jej ogrodu z trzema plicatami. Dopiero w domu zastanowiłam się czy ja koniecznie muszę uprawiać wykropkowane irysy, przecież to nie jest mój ulubiony typ kwiatu. Nie było co dywagować, kłączka czekały na posadzenie. Chyba wyczuły że miałam co do nich mieszane uczucia bo złośliwie pauzowały przez jeden sezon. Kiedy jednak zakwitły okazały się naprawdę miłymi roślinami, irysami pełnymi wdzięku o kwiatach które nie sprawiały wrażenia "mocno graficznych". 'Firestorm' zakwitł jako pierwsza z tzw. ciepłych plicat. Tę odmianę zarejestrował w 1992 roku Marky Smith. Odmianami rodzicielskimi są 'Rusty Dusty' i 'Tender Tears'. Niekiedy brzydkim rodzicom trafia się piękne dziecko, odmianę ' Firestorm' najprawdopodobniej przyniósł bocian. Rodzice nie tacy znów tragiczni, co to to nie ( w końcu z dobrych domów ) ale wybitni też nie byli. Natomiast ten irysek jest sympatyczny ( sympatyczna plicata to u mnie niemal to samo co powalający blend ). Rośnie dobrze, wzrostu średniego jak na SDB, całkiem miło falują mu płatki. Nagród nie ma ale ogrodnicy go lubią.

Falls with straw yellow patch barely showing in center, where it is dotted and threaded with red purple. Wide port margins solid and velvety on distal edge, plus central stripe.
