A most unique and unusual piece of wall art by the well known Swedish Lisa Larson for Gustavsberg, 1970s. There are 3 individually tiles plaques. Each patterned tile is a work of art in itself. Each tile is individually hand painted. Size each tile: 22.5 cm x 22.5 cm / 8.9'' x 8.9''3.9 inches (22 cm) x Depth: 0.47 inches (1.2 cm) thick. Condition Very nice, no chips or cracks. These are a unique and beautiful set of tiles. These tiles would be charming displayed on easels, framed or incorporated into a custom tile design. Inga Lisa Larson, born Alhage on 9 September 1931 in Härlunda, is a Swedish ceramicist. Between 1954 and 1980 she was active at Gustavsberg where she worked with Stig Lindberg. Larson has become known for her many characters depicting animals and people. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no official proof of authenticity, however it is well documented in design history. There is another listing for these but these are the new updated color patterns all glazed. These small too medium tiles are representative of the natural flow and movement in driftwood. The color patterns on these are pinks, and greens and grays primarily . There is some cool interactions in the form of textural bubbles here and there, Thanks for looking. Process: Each tile is handmade here at Stardust Clayworks. First a piece of clay is rolled out into a slab from which I trim out the initial outer tiles dimensions. The cut out tile shape is then set aside to stiffen up . Once it has dried a bit the design is traced or drawn onto the clays surface. The design is then sculpted into the face of the tile. The sculpting usually takes a couple days to complete in between working on other tile designs simultaneously. A plaster mold is then made of this original tile so that duplicates can produced. After a tile comes out of the mold it is stamped on the reverse with our logo and a hanging notch is carved as well. The tile is then set aside to dry completely. Once dry ,color is hand painted using terra sigillatta infused with mason stains. At this point the tile will get a first of two firings. After the first firing , stain and additional surface treatment is applied. The second firing sets the stains and the tile can now be hand buffed using a blend of coconut oil and bees wax.
