Introducing the NEW Prairie Wind Spinner for 2024. It features a traditional Windmill design and a fantail that allows the Prairie to pivot in the direction of the wind. With the vintage galvanized style, the multi-colored blades reflect in the sun. Add a breeze, and the UV-protected Prairie adds that rustic farmhouse touch to any yard or garden. Designed to work well with strong winds or a gentle breeze, the Prairie will not disappoint. It stands 83” in height with a 22" blade and 29" from blade the fantail, with powder-coated paint, a sealed ball bearing, and a thick pole gauge, so no bending in the wind. It also features four 11" step-in prongs for lasting stability in the ground, even in the heaviest of winds. It’s a perfect gift for any occasion or just a gift for yourself. This spinner will add beauty and elegance to your yard for many years to come.
USDA Hardiness Zones 3-9 Height 3-3.5 Feet Tall Spread 20-24 Inches Wide Light Requirement is Full Sun The thin, upright blades of Prairie Winds Blue Paradise Little Bluestem don't reveal just how tough this ornamental grass can be in the landscape. The cultivar of Schizachyrium scoparium is native to North America prairies and roadsides, and survives most any condition it faces. This is a pretty ornamental grass to use in containers, borders or as part of a mass planting. That's largely because the silver-blue stems give rise to deep wine-colored flowers by fall. With a height of more than 3 feet and an upright growth of no more than 2 feet, Prairie Winds Blue Paradise Little Bluestem is one of the most versatile grasses you can grow. The effect of a mass or row of the plants is ordered and natural at the same time. In containers, your bluestem grass is perfect for height in the middle or back of the design. Grow Blue Paradise in full sun in most soil types from zones 3 through 9. Prairie Winds Blue Paradise Little Bluestem Grass Care Even though it is drought tolerant, Prairie Winds Blue Paradise Little Bluestem needs some regular watering the first year. After that, it should thrive on rainwater and survive brief periods of drought. Leave the flowers to dry in winter for birds and deep purple color. In late winter or early spring, cut the entire clump to ground level and it will grow back into its broom-like shape by summer. That's all you need to do. Prairie Winds Blue Paradise Little Bluestem Grass Spacing Prairie Winds Blue Paradise Little Bluestem is a great filler plant for containers or areas of the garden needing height or fall color. As a mass planting, the grass blades will sway in the breeze like fields of wine-colored grain. Something a bit different today! While storm chasing in Wyoming this summer I came across this abandoned home in the middle of nowhere. I wanted to capture the beautiful green fields around the house but I also wanted to show the motion caused by the wind of the storm. I slowed down my shutter to give a slight blur on the wheat. Can you feel the wind?

Prairies are ecosystems considered part of the temperate grasslands, savannas, and shrublands biome by ecologists, based on similar temperate climates, moderate rainfall, and a composition of grasses, herbs, and shrubs, rather than trees, as the dominant vegetation type. Temperate grassland regions include the Pampas of Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay, and the steppe of Ukraine, Russia and Kazakhstan. Lands typically referred to as "prairie" tend to be in North America. The term encompasses the area referred to as the Interior Lowlands of Canada, the United States, and Mexico, which includes all of the Great Plains as well as the wetter, hillier land to the east.
Wakaw Lake, Saskatchewan Prairie plants have adapted to the rigours of drought and wind, and flourish in the bountiful moisture of spring. Lush fields of crocuses announce spring's arrival. I go annually with my family to a specific pasture near the creek at Wakaw Lake to view this spectacular sight. This photograph gives a different perspective, up close and personal. Note the fine hairs on the stem of the crocus plant. This is an adaptation which helps protect the plant from the drying winds on the prairies.

View On Black Went to Wolf Road Prairie after work tonight. I was concentrating on macro shots of wildflowers as the sun was setting. The light was beautifuI and the wind was calm, and I had a long lens on. I heard a noise behind me and turned around to see these two coming toward me. I was already set up perfectly to shoot them. How often does that happen?!? Even after they saw me, they continued working their way closer and closer. If you look closely, you can see the fawn just to the right of the doe.

There is a point along the Trans-Canada highway in Saskatchewan where you can see for miles in the distance. To me the meeting of land and the vast skies is the most fantastic artistry because it really appears alive. That's why I call it "Prairie Dance". You can feel both the grasses and the clouds dancing with the unseen wind. And the cattle get to feed and rest in it all. This 10” x 10” oil painting is on a cradled panel with 1-1/2” depth. The edges are painted black and it comes ready to hang. FREE Shipping to Canada & the U.S.
on to world domination, apparently! Not my normal shot, but I was attracted by the waves of flowing grasses matched by the alternating bands of sunlight and shadow. The flare in the upper left is from shooting into the sun with a 24mm lens, but seems to fit well with the image.
Just north of bustling Madison, there’s a quiet and tranquil monastery that’s surrounded by trails and nature.
