I crafted and dedicated this quilt to my beloved Grandpa back in 2019 when he was diagnosed with Leukemia. Living five hours away meant we couldn't visit as often as we wanted, but I yearned to express my love and support for him every day. That's why I decided to create this quilt - a tangible reminder that I was there for him, wrapping him in warmth and affection from afar. Grandpa cherished this quilt until he passed away on April 5, 2021. His love for me and for this gift fills my heart with gratitude. I feel incredibly blessed to have been enriched by his love and wisdom throughout my life. ❤️ For those interested in making a similar quilt, rest assured, this project is perfect for beginner to intermediate quilters. The instructions cover piecing and quilting the top, and while you may need a little extra guidance from YouTube on "Quilting Sandwiches" and "Binding," if you can sew squares together and maintain a 1/4" seam allowance, you're all set. Plus, it's entirely feasible to quilt this on a regular sewing machine - just follow those straight lines! * This pattern suggests using 21 fat quarters for piecing, along with handy measurements for backing, batting, and binding. It's perfect for turning scraps into a beautiful quilt or creating a cherished memory piece. *Just a heads up: this is a PDF download, so there's no need to wait for snail mail! *Dive into the pattern with a black and white page layout, ready for your own splash of color! *You'll find color photos sprinkled throughout the pattern for easy visual guidance. *The finished quilt measures around 52"x62", but you can easily tweak the size by adding or subtracting rows. Over the weekend I got to do two things I enjoy! Mr E took me adventuring again (will share photos later this week), and another border sewn around the Mini Medallion quilt. It's looking really nice... The best thing about the fabrics I'm using is that they are mostly orphan fat quarters that I love but haven't found a use for, but now the quilt measures 22 1/2" inches square so I'll have to sort through orphan lengths of yardage for the next border. Hopefully I can carve out an afternoon this week to sew the next round and stay up to date. If you missed the link to this free quilt it's over HERE at Clover & Violet, and is being shared by their guest blogger Chrissy of Sew Lux. We're up to Block 15 of the Lord's Prayer this week! The time is rolling along quickly, and I'm still only four blocks ahead with my quilt so I better buckle down and finish them all so I can have it quilted before the big reveal on week 26. Block 15, "those who", can be downloaded free HERE in the shop. When I shared the 1st block back in June I also wrote about the A21 Campaign and asked that you consider making a donation. Here is a recap of that appeal - Donating to A21 along the way... The complete 26 week Stitch-along will remain free, but I am hoping that as you gather the blocks each week and stitch them that you pray for the A21 Campaign (I shared about it here), and also that you would consider making a donation to it. Even a dollar or two, when added together by many donating the same, becomes large. Let's be part of the 'large' and support those who are working tirelessly to free slaves from human trafficking across the globe. Donate to A21 and read more about it HERE. I take my freedom for granted, I admit it, but countless others do not have my freedom (or yours)...let's be a part of the keys needed to unshackle them from slavery, even if it can only be through a financial donation or a quilt design and an earnest prayer...just doing what we can really does have an effect. Bless ya heaps!

Pocket Prayer Shawls may be small, but their message is mighty. We heard about their pocket-sized companions, we were delighted by their simplicity.
I didn't realize I had started so much “New” stuff in May until I looked back over my posts – Wow!!! For someone trying to finish stuff up, I really filled up some new project boxes!!! But that is almost always the case when I take classes, and remember Edyta Sitar visited our Music City Quilt Guild this month! I started two quilt projects in classes with her, and although I often abandon projects after a class for one reason or another, I've decided that I really like these two and will finish them up into quilts. They are.... My Eldon block from Edyta Sitar's class Two of my spool blocks from Spools by Edyta Then I designed and finished this sweet table topper Sonshine for my Mom for Mother’s Day…. And last but not least, I started my June Calendar Quilt. It’s one of my favorites from Kim Schaeffer’s Calendar Quilts book! The top is finished, and all I have left is to sandwich, quilt and bind – yoohoo!!! You can read all about the process of working on these projects by looking back at my May posts. How did you do on your NewFO’s? Start anything new? Share it with us at Cat Patches!!! And while you’re there, wish Barbara Bon Voyage… she’s off to Ireland, the lucky girl =^..^= Hugs & Blessings, Teresa =^..^=
Prayer squares are 5-inch squares, knitted or crocheted, that can function as a small version of prayer shawl--made in prayer, with prayer, for prayer.
PURPLE is our color for April's Rainbow Scrap Challenge ... and of course I'm delighted! It's one of those really delicious jewel colors that just trips my trigger! =^..^= And I think it makes a really delicious Soul Searching block too, don't you???? From the deep dark PURPLES..... To the more red VIOLETS...... They are all yummy to me! And I especially like them all mixed up scrappy-style to add sparkle! Auditioning for the Soul Searching block :) My task of washing up my stash for the RSC color was made much easier this month because I had already washed many of my PURPLE fabrics for the recent Diamonds are Forever workshop at Guild - I sewed up a few of these fun blocks last night just because I love seeing these colors play together so much!!! What a lovely potpourri of strips!!!! And while I had all the PURPLES out, I chose my fabrics for this month's Hootie block.... I'll let him shine in next week's RSC report :*) And can it be a coincidence that my current socks project is PURPLE? I think Angela is reading my mind! *grin* Are you playing in PURPLES too? Please share at SoScrappy's RSC linky party HERE! Or are you just enjoying some of the lovely PURPLE blooms that are bursting forth this spring? Courtesy of Found and Sewn Wishing you all a perfectly PURPLE kind of Sunday!!! Hugs & Blessings! Teresa =^..^=

I love participating in the quarterly Finish-A-Long challenges each year! I don't always (um, make that never) finish all my projects, but it really helps keep me focused on the ones that need my attention. Like many of my fellow quilters, I'm a card-carrying squirrel-chaser and distraction is my middle name. Whenever I begin to feel like I've wandered off and fallen down the rabbit hole, I can always turn to my planning wall to see what is next on my Finish-A-Long list :*) This list obviously wasn't quite finished LOL!!! Don't get me wrong - I love chasing squirrels with happy abandon! Some of my favorite quilts have come from that instinctive latching onto the shiny new thing. And sometimes it's a really fun surprise to find a project long forgotten at the bottom of a pile - often it just needs enough love to finish the borders or a binding. It's good to sometimes step back from a current project and just work on something mindless and fun. I find that I usually come back to it re-energized and stoked with new ideas. But I am by nature a methodical girl. I love a Plan! And the only thing I love more than a Plan is working the Plan :*) The more organized something is, the better chance it has of actually getting done in my universe. Procrastination is my nemesis, and lack of focus my deadly enemy! Preparation is the key for me to be successful in getting my quilts to the finish line, and the quarterly Finish-A-Long challenges fit into my planning goals perfectly. What I love most about the Finish-A-Long is that it works in quarters, so I can plan my projects more long term than right now, or this week, or this month. Even though I may be hot and heavy into En Provence or I Believe right now, with the Q1 list in front of me, I am also planning for the next couple of months. I know to be looking for more blue and orange fabrics to go with the ones I have pulled for Hudson's Dreaming of Planes quilt the next time I'm in a fabric shop. One quick glance reminds me to get the back stitched together for Soul Searching so that will be ready when my friend Joanne has a day open to let me come quilt it on her longarm. And when I finish a project, I never have to ask myself "what's next?" - I just go to the next one on the list! So without further ado - here's a list of my projects for the Q1 Finish-A-Long challenge this year, in no particular order. Can you spot them in the collage at the top of the post? Dreaming of Planes - this is a cuddle quilt for grandson Hudson. I've made him a couple of small baby quilts, but he has informed me that now he is FIVE, his "baby" quilt is no longer long enough to cover his toes. Can you tell that his favorite color is ORANGE? Yes, the brighter and bolder the better, just like him. The white polka dot orange in the background is a Minkee for a cuddly, snugly backing :*) I Believe Sampler - this is my Christmas UFO for January and I've posted several times about it recently. You can click on the name to see these posts. En Provence - this is self-explanatory of course! Bonnie's quilt is a beauty this year and we are seeing pictures of it all over the Blogaverse. I'm making the small version with the hope of finishing it quickly. All of my pieces are made and I'm assembling blocks now :*) Bind Amish Beauties, Strip Stax, and Happy - these are long finished quilts that have languished on the Binding shelf! It's time for me to get 'em done!!! Cool Diehl - this quilt is my homage quilt to Kim Diehl. I love her quilts and, even though I am not a fan of reproduction fabrics, her fabrics are definitely the exception. I love the light and joy in her fabrics and this quilt has been a joy to do! It's a small one - only 28 inches square :*) Soul Searching - one of my favorite Rainbow Scrap Challenge quilts from a few years ago. It's number has come up on my guild's UFO Challenge, so it will be quilted and bound this month. Talkin' Turkey - one of Bonnie Hunter's patterns that I've been making with friends. Working on the pieced borders! Christmas Tree Mugrugs - I have three to finish - two are ready to quilt! Pattern is from Kevin the Quilter if you want to make a few yourself :*) Sassy Circles - my improv circle project from a class taken with Jane Sassaman last summer Rami Kim Bag - a bag project from a class taken with Rami Kim last year at Quiltfest. She will be there again this year, so I'd love to have this done to show her :*) I would absolutely love to finish all of these in the next 3 months!!! It would be a miracle of course LOL :*) But I am shooting for at least half of them, and I think I can get more than that done. Wish me luck! There are several sites you can choose to go to enjoy the Q1 Finish-A-Long projects being shared this year - it is now global!!! I'm sharing at Leanne's at She Can Quilt - hope you will join me there! Hugs & Blessings! Teresa =^..^=
I'm still in love with the Patchwork of the Crosses blocks! Add caption I just realized this morning that I had never posted the completed picture of this block! It's definitely my favorite so far! This one is ready for the last layer - dark green to pull out that color from the center :) It's already beautiful, don't you think? That bold pink is amazing!!! When it's finished, there will be four POTC blocks on the finished pile - woohoo!!! Today is going to be a very busy day for me, so I doubt I'll get around to much Slow Stitching with Kathy and the girls, but if I want to do any stitching next week, I'd better take time to get a few more blocks prepped. Here are some fabrics I've pulled to see how they will work as POTC blocks.... Picked this one up in Indiana last week - that's a gorgeous deep orange! Same pattern in two colorways - red and white Stripe border print for the above two poinsettia prints One of my favorite fabrics EVER!!! But it might be tricky to get a clean design..... I seem to be liking deep pinks quite a lot lately, don't I? I always enjoy having a slow stitching project at hand, ready to pick up whenever I sit to watch TV or go away for a few days. But I've found that the key to my success and happiness with any hand project is PREPARATION! I have to take the time to prepare or that project will end up languishing. Believe me, I have several who have already met that fate, so I know! Are you taking it slow today? Join us at Kathy's Quilts! Hugs & Blessings! Teresa =^..^=

Or shall I call them "Silent Prayers To-Go", or "Quiet Prayers"... Not sure what to call them, but these are our latest creations. I kept trying to figure out what we could give to those who wouldn't have a need (or who we can't provide for) a small/med/large quilt. I came up with one you can put in your pocket (or purse) and take it with you when you visit someone ill, or in caring for someone in need, when (really) the one who needs the comfort is YOU. Here are a few mini quilt blocks (5" square or so...) that I threw together today. I actually have several 5"-6" squares that I make from the scraps of my quilts. I throw them in a drawer in the hopes of putting together a quilt that makes me think of every quilt I've made in the past. Here are a few made with selvedges and fancy stitches. I think I ended up with nine of them.... Of course, you knew they couldn't stay organized... Then you get to see each one of them. All they need is a tie in the center. Okay..... I now have them tied and here is how I'll display them. This is the cute little sign in the basket.
On my third trip walking through the exhibit at Festival , I took pictures of some of the quilts that really grabbed me. It's a pretty ecle...
This week we are creating a slow stitching panel, taking time to enjoy the process and decide just what this beautiful piece might become...
Last week there was a lot of noise outdoors : it turned out to be the noise of a chainsaw (which makes me nervous most of the time) Some man were busy on the little island right on the other side of the water next to our garden. I looked in terror : Would they really ? ........ Noooo ! the gorgeous weeping willows In a devastating trapeze act the man were decimating the two trees untill ... there were only two pitiful remnants instead of two majestic trees ( "it will be for the best" the Parks Department will probably say ... yuk !) This tiny creature gave me more fun : Lissotriton vulgaris (a newt) he (or she) was hiding with another sibling and mum under the geraniums (but the picture of the three of them wasn't sharp enough) * And indoors the stitching on the sunny heart piece went on and on ... After all the "sun rays" were there (in rainbow colours) the magic thread was stitched in place. Which left me only with the invisible basting of the backside which I did today ! "A warm heart" will be send of to France tomorrow to a very dear friend (and namesake)
