The Macclesfield Canal runs 27 miles between Marple and Hall Green, near Kidsgrove, mostly avoiding built-up areas. The route takes the canal through High Lane, Higher Poynton, Wood Lanes, Bollington, Bollington (south end), Hurdsfield, Macclesfield, Gurnett, Sutton, Lyme Green, Bosley, Congleton, Hightown, Kent Green, Scholar Green, Hall Green and Red Bull. | The Macclesfield Canal provides the most elevated and, some would say, most beautiful part of the Cheshire Canal Ring. The canal has just two levels divided by 12 stone locks in 1¼ miles at Bosley as well as the lock at Hall Green. This allows boaters to enjoy several hours of lock-free cruising either side of the flight. The top level is, at 518 feet above sea level, one of the highest navigable levels in the country. The canal also forms part of the Cheshire Ring Canal Walk, a 97-mile walk linking six historic canals, including the Macclesfield, Peak Forest and Trent & Mersey

The shores of Lake Wanaka in particular, especially near Roys Bay, are dotted by yellow poplars in autumn. And a drive down the Cardrona Valley will also reveal some patches of poplars here and there. Yellow poplars in autumn in the Cardrona Valley near Wanaka, New Zealand Yellow poplars in autumn in the Cardrona Valley Poplars are not native to New Zealand. Like many of the trees that display red, orange, or yellow colors in autumn, they were brought into New Zealand and planted either as decoration, for shelter, or for controlling erosion. You can also find a good amount of yellow trees around Glendhu Bay and along the Matukituki River.
