MINOAN POTTERY AMPHORA Condition: New, Handmade in Greece. Height: 16 cm - 6.3 inches Width: 14 cm - 5.5 inches Weight: 500g From around 2700 to 1450 BC, the Minoan civilization flourished as a seafaring and mercantile culture. This vibrant culture was centred around the island of Crete and eventually dominated the Aegean region. The Egyptians called the Minoans “the Sea Peoples” and had a fond appreciation for Minoan pottery and ceramics, prized for their innovative shapes and sea-inspired designs. Their vases and jugs were made in fine clay with thin walls and was an outstanding achievement at this time. Historians have learned everything there is to know about the Minoan people through their artwork. Artwork such as paintings, pottery, sculptures, and architectural designs were important to the people of the Minoan civilization in Crete. Our clay items are Hand painted and not fastly made, nor are they cheaply made of substitute materials such as resin. We stick to the materials and methods used by ancient Greeks and use only top quality ceramics and paints. Do not expect "perfection" as if these clay vessels was not mass produced from a machine like many are, but by hand. (103/36)

About Rustic water vessel made in natural clay from the Mixe Region in Mexico. In the heart of the Sierra Norte Mountains in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico, the settlers found that this "cold place" gave them a very special gift, clay, with which they could use to create their household goods. One of the most renowned artisans of this region is Silvia Martínez Díaz, who keeps this tradition alive and converts objects of common use, that date back to the Pre-Columbian times, into artistic pieces, very representative of her work. Using ancient techniques and materials such as her home-made oven, clay from the region, and her own hands, she is able to create this beautiful pieces which carry the traditions of indigenous settlers in the region.
