Get students out of their seats and engaged in calculating slope problems! Students can work with a partner, small group, or individually to solve the eleven problems on slope, including calculating slope from ordered pairs and graphs. Post the cards around the room and have student rotate to each “station” to solve one problem and write the clue word on their paper. Students can work in whatever order they want, so it is easy to spread them out across the room. Each card is numbered in the upper left star. Posting one or two of the cards in unusual places also adds to the excitement as they search for the hidden station. Two versions of the activity are included to help make printing easier for you. The first has a color background along with the color stars and boxes. The second has a plain white background with the color stars and boxes. If “no color” ink is needed, just print the second set in grayscale or pure black & white. Half sheet student answer sheets are also included to help save on paper and copying costs. Printing each question on cardstock and laminating each will keep copy costs down and preserve the activity for years to come. Using color cardstock keeps printing costs down while adding a visual appeal for students. I hope you and your students enjoy this activity as much as mine do!
