Shakti is dynamic. The power, or active aspect, of the immanent God is Shakti. Shakti is the embodiment of power. Shiva and Shakti are related as Prakasa and Vimarsa. Vimarsa gives rise to the world of distinctions. In other words, Shakti is the very possibility of the Absolute’s appearing as many, of God’s causing this universe. There is no difference between God and His Shakti, just as there is no difference between fire and its burning power. Shakti is inherent in God. Just as you cannot separate heat from fire, so also you cannot separate Shakti from God, the possessor of Shakti. Shakti is Brahman Itself. Shiva and Shakti are one. They are inseparable. Yantras are visual picture tools (mandalas) that serve as symbolic compositions of the energy pattern of a deity. They have been passed down by the ancient rishis who have seen these patterns in their exalted consciousness. They can be used to focus upon and attract the benign influences that flow from the representative deity. Scientifically every atom has an electromagnetic resonance, and many different patterned signatures depending on its interaction with other forces. So it is with the representative qualities of different deities that represent the one God, Goddess or Creative Cosmic Intelligence. A yantra is a visual pattern of resonance that is effectuated by the respect and attention of the practitioner. This "shape energy" or "form energy" emits a very specific frequency or energy pattern. The rishis devised mantras that when properly intoned activate these creative forces to produce the desired result. This is best done with the interiorization of the mind. The worshipper’s consciousness, sincerity, and concentration can attract the blessings of intermediary angels, saints, or deities that assist God by helping to amplify their inner communion. However such practices though aiding to the adherent are not as rapid a path to the infinite as the daily practice of a meditation technique that has been passed on from a self-realized Guru. There is a crucial aspect of feminine wisdom that has largely been lost in today's world—a “sacred feminine” which, if reclaimed, could help relieve a tremendous amount of conflict and suffering all across the planet. In this 13-part Goddess Returns series, acclaimed teachers Sally Kempton and Ken Wilber discuss one of the most powerful ways we can reconnect with this divine feminine: by invoking and internalizing the energetic qualities of eleven different Hindu goddesses.
