My Pyrex Obsession...
Oh, The Pinkness!
I'm late posting these as I visted in October.
Happy 100th birthday, Pyrex! This clear glass cookware — classic Americana — has a very colorful history. Its genesis came in 1913 from Bessie Littleton, whose husband Jesse worked at Corning Glass Works. Bessie was frustrated when her stoneware casserole broke apart in the oven, so she asked her husband if the Glass Works had a suitable substitute. Up until then, it seems,…
How fun are these ads? (I have those primary color bowls, bee-tee-dub, and I do cherish them.) Look familiar? And those prices! Methink...
i tried to hug the postman but he ran away! LOL! Unmarked but i know they are agee.
I have been so busy being out of the country and whatnot I haven't had a chance to post my latest Pyrex acquisitions. I didn't get these all at once. These are about eight months of collecting. People ask me how I get such great pieces. It's my mom! She is so good at spotting them at yard sales and auctions. She rocks. Of course she would pass out if she saw I was actually using some of these. I broke a pitcher this week! :( These are some of my favorites here. Basically, I love turquoise and anything with a carrier. The cream of the crop is the Corning Glass Works casserole from Greencastle, PA which is very close to my hometown.
Since my last share about my pyrex collection I have been doing more research and have found that pyrex collecting is a HUGE phenomena! A lot of people are crazy for it. I can understand why. There are so many lovely colours and patterns and it can also be useful. If you are a serious collector and still use your collection for cooking and serving you must treat it with great care for it to remain in good condition. NEVER put it in the dishwasher and be very mindful of scratching the surface inside and out. I recommend not using metal utensils. I finally found a cabinet to house my collection that keeps it all enclosed and dust free but still showcases it nicely. I don't think I can stop now. I can't resist looking at thrift & antique shops. Vintage Pyrex Collection Happy Hunting!

I had the super good fortune to find the bottom Starburst space saver with lid and warmer for $25 in an antique mall. The top was an inexpensive Etsy purchase from a few weeks ago.

I don't collect vintage Pyrex - but I do love it! I simply can't collect everything. (Though some would beg to differ.) And yet, truly, how ...
If you dropped by unexpected for coffee (no one ever does), this is what you would find: minions, hot wheels, discarded socks, books, ABCs, blue couch. Plus a mountain of clean tupperware that refuses to dry itself.

Vintage pyrex collection When I shared a picture I liked of pink pyrex on Pinterest there seemed to be a lot of interest in the subject. I decided I would showcase my own vintage pink and aqua pyrex collection which was greatly enhanced by a trip to the Brimfield Antique Show this past fall. Most of these are from the late 50's to the very early sixties. I really like so much of the 50's style. Aqua and Pink Vintage Pyrex Vintage Aqua Pyrex Vintage Pink Pyrex What do you like to collect?
It's too small and I am still trying to figure out what I like. I really want a unit that can house everything. Almost all the bowl sets are complete, just haven't raised them up. I have other some other collections in my photostream. Pinks, Butterprints, Snowflakes, and my Black & Whites
I don't collect Pyrex but when I came across two little vintage Amish Butterprint Dishes it was love at first sight. What's great about collecting vintage Pyrex is that it displays well as a collection and is also very functional. The two little containers perched above the larger one is what I found today at The Goodwill. image via here via my blessed life via here Years ago I found a Canadian made Pyrex Corning dish in the Spring Blossom pattern in a content sale. It was in it's original green packaging complete with instructions (similar to the one shown below). I have yet to use it... via here
Just a blog about the things i love, all things kitsch! If it's tacky, ugly, campy, cutesy, quirky or wonderful, you'll find it here. You'll also find some vintage and retro things as well. What is Kitsch? Kitsch is pleasingly distasteful. It's melodramatic, overdone, gaudy and tacky or sentimental and folksy. It's so bad that it's cool. Kitsch is either cutsey fun or hideous ugliness, depending on the viewer's opinion. Enjoy the kitsch!
