Create your blocks, following the same procedure as last week. If you need help making your blocks, please see this post. You should end up with 16 2.5" squares. Ready to lay out your block? Here we go! ROW 1 ROW 2 ROW 3 ROW 4 After you have sewn your squares into rows, press your seams. I like to press odd numbered rows to the left, and even to the right. It helps to use a small piece of paper to number your rows. I like the tiny post-it notes. After pressing, you are ready to sew your rows together! Pin, if necessary, but I find that these short rows don't require pinning. Press one final time, and voila! Another finished block! Only 42 to go! Pat yourself on the back! Remember to add your blocks to our flickr group!

PATTERN is now available in my shop here. I started this quilt (and a few others) before the long stay in the hospital. I have been spending as much time as I can trying to get caught up on my quilts before baby Emma comes home. Love this pattern, but the solid colors made it a little plain. So I picked out a variegated purple thread to quilt it. It wasn't the exact shading that I wanted because it never went to white. You can hardly tell that it changes colors. Hmmm....it would be easier to see on a dark quilt. I was hoping that the curves in the quilting would soften the straight lines of the quilt. I'll see it better once it's washed!
This is a made to order quilt, not a finished product. There are 2 choices for you to make regarding color, but please leave a note during checkout if you want more than 2 colors used. Measurements of this quilt are 68"W X 95"L, enough for a 15-inch drape over the sides and foot of a TwinXL mattress. This size is usually best for hospital beds and college dorms. If you need a slightly different measurement, please contact me and we can work with that. It will take approximately 3-4 weeks to finish this quilt once purchase is made and colors & size have been confirmed. Domestic shipping is FREE!!! Contact me if you have any questions.

This computer-illustrated L-Block quilt was completed on Electric Quilt software. I haven't made this arrangement into an actual quilt yet. This is an "original" arrangement, meaning I came up with it without seeing anyone else's similar design, but it is so simple that I'm sure hundreds of others have come up with a similar design. Feel free to copy this one, just don't sell the pattern. I make a lot of charity quilts from L-block designs, as they are so quick and simple to do. This one requires 48 L-blocks, half with the square being light and the two rectangles dark. The remaining 24 blocks have these colors reversed. Add borders as desired; I liked the contrasting mitered borders with this off-center design. Here are some other L-block arrangements (some actual quilt tops, others just computer illustrations): www.flickr.com/search/?q=allthatpatchwork+L-block

At some point in my adult years I came to understand the truth of the statement "The obstacles in my path ARE my path." Periodically throughout my life I've been faced with obstacles and challenges that seemed to be diverting me from the path I wanted to follow. As I faced these challenges and found my way through the obstacles, they changed the me who I am... and became an integral part of my journey. This lesson was on my mind when I created the grey-blue version of this quilt, and that quilt serves as a constant reminder to me that obstacles and challenges are to be welcomed -- they bring with them personal growth opportunities and new perspectives for me. I'm sure that reading this you will be recalling your own challenges and how they have shaped who you have become. What a gift it is to arrive at that understanding! I was so pleased with that quilt that I was inspired to see how it would translate in a different colour combination. I was delighted with the result! So many quilters requested a queen size version of this quilt that I finally turned the layout I had created for them into a proper pattern. The quilt in this Queen version of the pattern finishes at 95" x 105". The layout is shown in the photos. If you would like a kit for this quilt, check out my regular online store: www.quiltersdreamfabrics.com.
