Quinn's 7th (!!!) birthday was back in November (!!!). She had her heart set on a party + sleepover with her two best friends, specifically a reptile-themed party, so we made it happen. She's been fascinated with reptiles for months & would check out books about snakes from the school library every week. We signed her up for a membership to our local nature conservation lab for reptiles & amphibians, which she visits frequently. I shouldn't have been surprised when she requested a reptile-themed birthday. Me: "How about mermaids?" Quinn: "Reptiles." Me: "Unicorns? Llamas?" Quinn: "REPTILES." Me: "Good talk." So we set about gathering ideas for a reptile party. I didn't stress about the details being Pinterest-worthy or Pinterest fails 😅 Quinn was the mastermind of this party, taking part in everything from DIY to decorating to the food prep to figuring out the party favors. I was her willing minion who operated the hot glue gun & gently nixed ideas that were too grand ("Let's give live lizards as party favors!") She & her friends had a total blast, stayed up way too late, woke up way too early, & dived into donuts for breakfast. How sweet is this age?! The sweetest. The balloon garland snake ended up looking like a bunch of green grapes with eyes & we laughed so hard. ↓ in progress ↓ This age & how they form friendship bonds make my heart explode with little heart emojis 💞 Crafts & jammies time. The girls painted & decorated wooden wiggle snakes...... ....and each created a reptile "habitat". There was also a dance party, movie & popcorn time, & a stealthy balloon attack (thanks, girls). The girls went home with favor bags that resembled those live cargo shipping crates. Quinn filled each of the bags with sequin-changing slap bracelets (they remind her of reptile "scales"), gummy snakes (ok, worms), plastic lizards, & ombre clip-on mermaid hair (because why not). Party pieces I used: plastic "habitat" jars | faux palm stems | fruit tape "snakes" We gave Quinn a leopard gecko for her birthday & she's been taking great care of Ray the Gecko.😀 Happy Sssseventh Birthday to our darling & daring girl! This is one of my favorite cakes of all time. Since my boys are afraid of bugs and snakes, I knew that this might be my only chance to make a bug and reptile cake. Everything on the cake is edible. Lizard Wizard was there and brought along 25 creepy crawly creatures. These are some of the critters that they brought to the party. It was a FABULOUS party and we had an awesome time!!!

When our son turned 6, we had a reptile birthday party for him. It was probably one of the funnest ones we’ve done. I spent most of the budget to hire a professional “reptiler” (I don’t really know what they’re called). This woman does parties and events. She brings her reptiles with her. It was […]
