A unique small Oak sideboard with two drawers and two doors. The interior has one shelf which can be removed. A very well constructed, quality piece with dovetailed joints and brass hinges. Originally, the sideboard was a very dark Oak which made it look heavy and very dated. I decided to give it a drastic facelift and began by cleaning the entire piece with sugar soap and warm soapy water. Next I sanded back to the bare wood to reveal a beautiful grain that had been previously hidden under the dark wood stain. The panels to the sides and doors were then painted in Liquorice black by Shabby Chic Paint and given two coats. I wanted to create a rustic/boho look and chose an Aztec style stencil for the side panels and used Antique White by Shabby Chic. For the door panels, I chose a stencil by Redesign with Prima and again applied the design with the Antique white. Next, I sealed and nourished the bare Oak with Fusion Hemp Oil including the interior wood. Finally, I painted the drawer fronts in Liquorice and sealed with Hemp oil and hung handmade jute drawer tassel. A really striking piece with rustic charm in abundance!
