'French Poodle - Thundercloud 9' is a colorful riso print of a grumpy poodle on a pink cloud from our series Angry Animals. Risography is a technique where you use a duplicating machine to print colors separately, layer by layer. The result is somewhat reminiscent of screen printing. Risography uses semi-transparent inks based on vegetable oil (soy or rice). Due to the technology, each print is slightly different, which makes each print unique. Designed and printed by us in our studio in Utrecht. Ink colors: neon pink and blue. Paper: 160 grams Biotop, A4 sized (21 x 29.7 cm) The print is sent without a frame. Tea Spirit Japanese Riso Print in A4 3 colour Riso-Print on Cream 260gsm on recycled card Each print is signed by me. Unframed* RISO prints are considered to be the most eco-friendly with a unique and vibrant aesthetic. Risograph printers employ a process similar to screen-printing with stencils and layers of ink. The inks are made from vegetable oils, not hydrocarbons, and therefore are healthier for environment. I only use 100% recycled paper made from post-consumer waste paper and card. This means less trees are felled, and less paper-waste is sent to landfill. Deforestation is a huge problem in many parts of the world. It harms local people and wildlife, and often brings soil erosion and increased flooding later.
