With the delightful warm weather finally arriving here in Minnesota my mind has shifted towards all things gardening. I'm itch'in to get my hands dirty and plant seedlings. Sadly, I'll have to wait at least a month before planting time. In the meantime, I'll be spending my time searching for inspiration and planning ahead as much as possible. Here are a few images that caught my eye that I'm hoping to incorporate into my garden. I thought this mass planting of simple white Impatiens is pure genius. What a wonderful way to brighten up a shady spot in the garden. Source I love this mix of various Hosta's and decorative grasses in island beds. Although I don't have any island beds in my yard, I do have a Hosta bed that I think could be greatly improved with the addition of some decorative grass. Source Look how gorgeous this row of Knock Out Roses look against the wood fence. I have the start of something like this in my backyard garden. I currently have three Knock Out Roses that I love but maybe if I expand it a little I can have this look towards the middle of my large garden and than fan out into other plants on either side. Source You all know how much I love my Zinnia's. This year I'm going to have to give this version a try again. Queen Red Lime Zinnia's - gorgeous aren't they. I tried them a few years back, but unfortunately the year was not a good one, my whole garden struggled with the cool summer. Maybe this year will be better. Source I say this every year, but I really would love to add a pretty birdhouse with vines growing up the post somewhere in my backyard. Source This isn't really a garden accessory, but for some reason they seem to go hand in hand. I really need to convince hubby a laundry line would be a great thing - - especially if it looks like this. Source I should really make one of these since I have everything it required. Such a nice way to spruce up a garden necessity. Source This would be a quick and easy project to give my patio a little character. Source I love planting in buckets. Aren't these fun! I would think they would be very easy to do also. Source So there you go, now you know where I'm heading with my garden this year. How about you, any big plans? bye now Robin
