About An incredible pair of hand-crafted Scandinavian Modernist / Art Deco club lounge chairs in solid wenge wood, circa 1920s. Unknown designer / manufacturer, possibly one of a kind! Minimalist and modern in design, these unique chairs feature an angular frame in solid wood construction and a pillowed chevron design on the side panels. Striking beautiful grain patterning. Framed back panel is upholstered and seat has loose cushion with new foam. Newly upholstered in a Rogers & Goffigon slubbed natural fiber woven fabric with subtle and overscaled geometric pattern. The fabric is in natural tones, gray and tan. A fabric swatch is available upon request. The original cushions were wire coil and horsehair filled with an extremely early Dux mattress label from the 1920s (photo upon request) "Madrass Fabriken - Dux - Malmo". These chairs would fit well into a minimalist modern rustic interior. Part of the Scandinavian design movement Sportstugemöbler - ‘furniture for holiday houses.’ These chairs are in good vintage condition with general wear, embossing to wood arms, and separation in the wood from age. A rustic quality yet Modern in design. Structurally sound and substantial in weight. A full condition report is available upon request. We expect these chairs to be from Sweden, due to the Dux label.. however, the form is similar to Art Deco furniture from the Hauge School (Hendrik Wouda), Amsterdam Modernism and other Scandinavian designers from the 1920s / 1930s (Axel Einer Hjorth). We would be happy to provide additional photos / videos! Fabric: Rogers & Goffigon Cubist 92536-01 / Compost 50% Linen 39% Cotton 8% Acrylic 3% Polyester

If I had to describe this Scandinavian home than it would be as cozy! Everywhere in the home there are cozy sitting nooks.
An early 20th century European Art Deco rug, the camel field with polychrome curving branches surrounded by enlarged geometric motifs and linear patterns in red, brown and sand. Art Deco owes its name to the first major exhibition of decorative arts to be held after the First World War: L'Exposition Internationale des Arts Decoratifs et Industriels Modernes held in Paris in 1925. The supreme elegance of the custom made interiors at the event set an example for interior designers the world over. Inspired by these innovative aesthetic ideas, artists, designers, craftsmen and manufacturers from across Europe and America produced a wide range of modern pioneering patterns that delivered a dramatic change of style to furnishings in general, and early 20th century and carpets in particular. Decorative arts of this period, sometimes known as the Machine Age, are characterized by a streamlined appearance. Art Deco and carpets woven from the mid-1920s through the 1930s reflect this style.
