Made these for 3 very awesome Flickr friends....long overdue thank-you's. I accidentally cut the cardboard the wrong size, so I cheated and backed the ATC's with transparency film to make them 3.5x2.5. Had fun with Melody Ross Papers, Tim Holtz Tissue Tape, Glitz Distress Stamps, Nunn Designs and Jewelry Shoppe Embellishments. Only 2 1/2 more weeks of this college semester (it is kicking my booty), then a small break during the Christmas Holidays before I start the next one. Off to study for an exam, as I had to work all day yesterday.... Hope you all have a Happy, love-filled Thanksgiving. I am certainly thankful for all of you. Thanks so much for looking, friends. :)

I LOVE TULIPS Yesterday, I made these cards using the Brusho technique.
Look as this yummy texture achieved by using Kosher Salt. The size of the salt crystals are just perfect for layouts and/or your mixed media art. The supplies shown in the picture are all you need to achieve this salt texture. I'm only showing one color of Glimmer Mist in the photo, but I actually used a Lindy's Stamp Gang Moonshadow Mist (Smoky Sapphire) color as well. Kosher Salt is often used in watercolor paintings. When you saturate a section of watercolor paper with watercolor paint, and you pour some Kosher Salt on top of the paint and let it dry thoroughly, the salt absorbs all the color and you can then flick off the salt and it leaves a really cool effect. I would often use this technique on some of my watercolor art and thought why couldn't this work on a layout as well, so I set out to see if I could make it work. In this case, I saturated some sections of corrugated paper with various colors of Glimmer Mist and Lindy's Stamp Gang Moonshadow Mist and poured some salt on the pools of color and let it dry with the help of a heat gun, but not too close as you don’t want the salt to fly off the paper. I would suggest you let the pooled colors with salt dry naturally. Once it was dried, I really liked the texture it revealed and decided to keep it as it was by applying a light mist of Elmer’s Graft Bond Spray Adhesive. If you don’t apply the bond spray adhesive, the salt will eventually fall off the paper. Unfortunately, that strip is a piece I had to cut off to make this creation fit on my layout that I was working on, but you can see all the cool texture effect the salt produced. I sincerely hope you give it a try and let me know what you do with it.

Hi everyone and welcome! It's Kathy Clements' turn to host the latest challenge over on the Frilly and Funkie Challenge blog, and she's called it 'In The Good Old Summertime'; "it's time for those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer. Whether you vacation at the beach, in the mountains, or enjoy a relaxing "Staycation" in your own back yard, your challenge is to create a vintage or shabby chic project that shows what you love best about summer. Use summer colors in your project. Be sure to tell us in your post what you love about summer, and how you've represented that in your project." The team will choose their top four picks with the winner being invited to join us in a Guest DT spot at Frilly and Funkie and the next three will receive badges to display on their blogs. Everyone who enters and follows the rules will be entered into the draw to have the chance to win a $25 spending spree at The Funkie Junkie Boutique, so there are plenty of reasons for joining in the fun. I love the long, light Summer evenings spent sitting in our garden at home (when the weather is warm enough). It is a little piece of paradise, full of mature shrubs, trees and climbers, and there's nothing better than catching heady wafts of summer jasmine in the air. What better than to capture some of that magic of a Summer garden in Junk Journal format! I used a whole host of orange, yellow and contrasting aqua shades of Distress Paint to colour the Eileen Hull Designs Journal cover before stamping over with, amongst others, Wendy Vecchi's 'Spring Bouquet' design repeatedly. Applying Transparent Paste through Tim Holtz Roses Stencil and a Prima IOD clay mould decorated with Remnant Rubs and die cut lettering completed the look. Inside lots of 'junk' pages were unified with Memoranda paper and lots of stamping using a whole host of Wendy Vecchi stamp sets. To give you a better idea here's my video walkthough; And as promised in the video here are some photo highlights; That's it for my DT project for the current Frilly and Funkie challenge 'In The Good Old Summertime' I hope you've enjoyed today's post and hope you take the chance to watch the accompanying video walkthrough. Do make sure you hop on over to see what my talented team mates have been inspired to create for this Summer themed challenge, and remember to link your own shabby chic or vintage Summertime projects, to be in with a chance of winning one of the fabulous prizes. Have a fantastic end to your week, take care of yourselves and get creative! Jenny xxx

I am loving the new scalloped tulle trim from the 2012 Stampin' Up Holiday Catalog, which comes in three gorgeous colors and is taking embellishing to a whole new level. This morning I came up with a fun technique totally on accident while I was working on something else, and I put together a quick mini-tutorial for you. You'll need your "tool" and your "tulle"--the heat tool and the scalloped tulle--and that's it! Tulle is synthetic, so unlike natural fibers, it melts--and in this case, that's a good thing! Cut off twice as much tulle as you think you're going...
