Limited edition Risograph Print. 1 of only 10. Each print will be signed, dated and numbered. Risograph printing is a blend of screen printing and photocopying, resulting in an image which is vibrant, textured and one of a kind. The Risograph process cannot be perfectly replicated from image to image so each print is slightly different and totally unique. Please be aware that the print you receive may vary very slightly to the image seen here. Each image is printed using soy-based and non-toxic inks on FSC certified 100gsm paper (similar to newsprint). Riso Inks are translucent and can be overlaid at different transparencies to achieve various colour combinations. The Banana Leaf print has a background image of yellow ink, overlaid with a darker blue ink. The printed image measures 275mm x 387mm centred on A3 paper, giving it a slight border. All prints are unframed and sent in an A3 cardboard envelope.

Original four-layer risograph print created for my BFA thesis project. Full bleed, printed on 67 lb. white paper. Open edition. Risograph machines print soy-based transparent ink one color at a time, with each new color layer requiring the user to switch out the ink drums and burn a new "master" (kind of like a negative in screen printing, but positive instead?) onto the drum which can then be used to print unlimited amounts of that specific design in that specific color. This method of printing can achieve tones not possible through standard CMYK printing, like fluorescent/neon colors. FRAMING: If you're interested in ordering any of my prints framed, I am 100% down to help you with that. Please message me via Etsy or Instagram (@salamisandals) and we can talk about a custom framing order! Pricing these out beforehand is complicated due to each person's individual preferences, so they're best handled on a case-by-case basis. HANDLING AND CARE: Riso ink is NON-ARCHIVAL, meaning it will fade if exposed to direct sunlight over a long period of time. I recommend not displaying art on walls that get a lot of direct sunlight, or alternatively framing the work with UV protective glass. That being said, not many things last forever, so if you don't mind your piece fading, then do whatever you want :) This ink also remains slightly tacky even after drying, so handle your print like a photo for best results (i.e. don't put your hands directly on the ink, it will smudge). If you do get the ink somewhere it isn't supposed to be, a *WHITE* eraser (not a pink one!!!) will remove errant inky fingerprints.

An A4 size screen-print entitled 'Magic Donkey No.3'. This is one of a continuing series of prints that I have made focussed on donkeys and their adventures in a strange and abstracted place. This print featured a magic donkey, perhaps a strange donkey dream, and lots of helping hands. What is happening? Only the donkeys know... The prints started as a way to celebrate donkeys, as I feel they are somewhat undervalued in art and society, and as time has gone on the compositions have become more and more surreal! Blue and red System 3 inks on Antique White Seawhite 280gsm acid-free paper. From an edition of 17, signed, stamped, titled and numbered. The print image measures H15.5xW15.5cm. The paper measures H29.7xW21cm. Printed by myself at Hunk Print, Sheffield, UK. Each one is slightly different, as is the nature with screen-prints. It has companion prints entitled 'Magic Donkey No.1' and 'Magic Donkey No.2' found at: https://folksy.com/items/7596485-Magic-Donkey-No-1-A3-2-colour-screen-print https://folksy.com/items/7596490-Magic-Donkey-No-2-A3-2-colour-screen-print All prints will be posted securely in a sturdy card-backed envelope and sent by first-class post (UK) or Airmail (rest of the world). Forget the latest desktop printer from HP or Epson, what you need is a new miniature printing press designed by the traveling open source design studio Letterproeftuin out of the Netherlands. Created for the International Poster and Graphic Design Festival Chaumont earlier this year, the miniature screen and letter printing presses were created so that Letterproeftuin could create smaller prints while on location at printing shows. While it doesn’t look like they have any plans to mass produce the presses I imagine such a thing could be extremely popular these days. More
