A place to look out for breaching fins and blows in the sea. Have a look at the walking route. This is one of the best places imaginable for watching the sunset. But not today as it began to rain when we reached the lighthouse. There was a stormy wind. This spectacular headland is a good place for bird, dolphins and whale-watchers. We saw the beautiful Gannets flying. The Northern Gannet is a seabird and is the largest member of the gannet family. Adults are 90-100 cm long and have a 170-180 cm wingspan. The head and neck are brushed in a delicate yellow and quite easy to recognize. Their breeding range is the North Atlantic. They normally nest on cliffs overlooking the ocean or on small rocky islands like here on the Isle of Skye. Photo of the Northern Gannets at point Neist most Western point of the Isle of Skye. At the lighthouse we saw waves of 10 meters high smashing the coastline. The stormy wind up here almost blew my camera from my neck!!!

More silk-sea and long-exposure experiments. I went down to the docks, trying to get some minimal landscape photos. But unfortunately, and strangely the Icelandic winter darkness was to bright for a decent long exposure, even with my -2 stop polarizing filter. So instead of giving in and go home, I decided to point the camera downwards, at the waves braking on the rocks. This one, captured in 4 seconds, shows quite well the transition of the sea, crawling through the stones in a misty form, I think. I've posted way to few pictures recently. But don't worry, I got a few that are ready to go online.
Pareidolia is not just a simple mind trick making you see funny faces on things when there actually are none. It's no sign of psychosis coming your way either, but rather a quite complex, pre-historical self-defense mechanism. Yes, it's true, seeing unlikely faces helped our ancestors survive; if you presumed that the rustling bush has a saber-toothed tigers' face hidden behind the leaves, chances are you'd run and save yourself if there actually was a beast lurking in the greenery.

As they are ambush predators, their bodies are dark black, and even their stomachs are coated with black tissue to block out any light that might be produced by bioluminescent (light producing) animals that they eat. Along their dark bodies, Pacific blackdragons have several rows of specialized light cells, called photophores that are probably used to ... Read more

Man in SeaStorm is insprired from my days at sea. We wanted to create an image that encorporated the rough seas we used to experience when we were at sea a long time. Rather than us create an image of a cruise ship, and to avoid a titanic feeling, we decided to create this as a little boat way in the sea facing an unsubmountable challenge to get through the storm. Animated style is our go to at the minute. Picture size fits 12x12 sqaure frame. Print & delivery only. No digital copies sent. Delivery 1-2 business days 1st with Royal Mail.
