A curious look on his face!
This adult male Harp seal was the second Harp to come ashore on a beach in Allenhurst, N.J. during the last two days. Harp seals are rare in our area. They should be on the ice fields off Newfoundland and Greenland. One theory is that due to the shrinking ice in the Arctic, some seals have been forced to expand their range. Both Harps were rescued by the Marine Mammal Stranding Center. I am a first responder volunteer for the org.
